First time to Hawaii....loved this location. Loved snorkeling right there at the beach. Took a snorkeling excursion and it was disappointing...perfect at black rock and it's free. Make sure to rent your snorkeling gear for the week not the day rentals. Loved Whalers Village so close & great prices on food. Loved Hula Grill. The shuttle was so great […] to get you where you needed to go. Would recommend getting a car and doing road to Hana...it's a slow miserable road, make sure to take the map that Sheridan gives you in your room telling you where to stop. We had a garden room which was great for the 3 & 8 year-old kids to run around on. The beach and pool were fantastic. Staff was friendly and helpful. The beach was so fun and the snorkeling was very memorable as we saw sea turtles and lots of colorful fish.

We upgraded to the Ohana suite upon arrival and felt so comfy and pampered throughout the whole week. A few tips though. Wouldn't recommend the room service (low quality food) or the luau (cheesy compared to the Old Lahaina Luau). If you want to sunbathe by the pool, get a seat early. Accessibilty to anything was bad. Your drop off point when arriving and leaving :is in the dark. Very hazardous unsafe condition. Access ability topublic restrooms is poor. Gratuities on every slip was an insult. If I want to tip a service, I don't need to be told every time. Thiss was a disappointing experience!

Overall the location is tough to beat, which is the main reason we stayed there. You are on best part of Kaanapali with access to beach and snorkel, or other water activities. Property is a bit dated, but not terrible. Staff generally are committed to taking care of guests. We did have an issue first night as we arrived late due to airlines and all […] rooms of type we reserved had already been allocated, so were given what we were told was an upgraded room, but with two double beds (we asked for King). Staff was apologetic and we were able to switch rooms to the one we actually reserved the next day. The property is nice but very spread out. Food and drink on property, consistent with just about every resort I have ever been, are terribly overpriced. Worst offender is the breakfast. There really are not good options close to go for breakfast. They generally push you to the breakfast buffet, which costs $29 / person. If you think you will do better ordering from the menu, think again. Individual menu items seemed to be priced such that you could hardly make sense of ordering from the menu instead of getting the buffet - you will end up paying just as much in the end. Overall we will go back and stay at the same property. I will figure out how to avoid food or beverage on campus. I personally have a very hard time paying more for something than it is worth. This is a great hotel in a great location. In addition to the expected amenities of a large chain hotel, there is great snorkeling from the beach the hotel was built on, and the site is excellent for humpback whale watching in the winter months (no need to take a boat ride). Fantastic location and beach. Poolside chairs are comfortable. Breakfast buffets were mediocre and, in general, restaurants were overpriced. great access to everything beach wise and activity wise. Great view of whales jumping around during our early February visit.

Sheraton locates on a beautiful beach. Black rock is a fabulous place for snorkel. Staff there are friendly and helpful. But the decoration of the room is very old, especially the bathroom. If you don't care about the room and just want to enjoy the beach and sunshine, Sheraton is a good place to stay.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. The view was amazing and it was a beautiful hotel in a great spot at black rock which is fantastic for snorkeling on Kaanapali beach. It is also in close proximity to the Whalers Village for great food and shopping. We found the breakfast was way overpriced and unreasonabel and cost us $70.00 for an omellette(greasy), […] and pancakes with coffee. We chose to buy our breakfast at the grocery store and never ate at the resort again. I guess if you are a Starwood Preferred guest it might be different or have money to burn. We would however stay here again and enjoyed the experience knowing we would rather eat at the Hula Grill & Dukes Beachhouse down the beach instead of eating at the resort. Läs mer

Upon check-in, we had the opportunity to upgrade to the Moana building, for a mere $25/night. If you ever get the chance to stay in the Moana building, take it, especially in "whale" season. Each room overlooks the channel between Maui, Lanai, and Molokai. We spent a lot of time just looking out from our lanai and watching the whales, boats, snorkelers, […] fishermen, etc. Very relaxing. Excellent place for families - just returned 1/20/13 from 7 days with a 7 year old and 5 year old. But be prepared to pay serious $$ for food, extra bed ($30/day), resort fee ($30/day) and lots of other costs. Overall, excellent place, beautiful beach, great food/drinks, pool rocks!

There were only a couple of things that we found unpleasant. The air conditioning in the room was on a motion sensor. Which meant in the middle of the night the room heated up. Which woke us up. We didn't have one night were we slept the whole time. There is a huge blower above the restaurants... which made a constant humming noise. It felt like we […] were next to a freeway at times. One more thing. I know everything in Hawaii is expensive. But to fact that the hotel food was so over the top that we didn't have a chance to eat at the hotel often. The location of this hotel is great, you can just walk to the beach. The pool was not heated so with kids (2 and 4) we spent more time at the beach as it was a little warmer compared to the pool. The breakfast buffet was good, they didnt change the menu at all but then the service was great. The spa service was good and reasonably priced. Our oceanfront […] room looked more like a garden front + ocean view room, so either get the ocean view or be clear with them about the oceanfront view. We stayed at the Marriott@Big Island the following week and we had an oceanfront view room that met our expectations. The beds need improvement, we had 2 twin beds so not sure if those twin beds are the same as king size beds. The beds sucked for sure, didn't get proper sleep (the adults). They had wifi service and it worked great everywhere, the valet service was an additional $5. For vegetarians there are several options. The Pulehi at the Westin was really awesome (except for the overpriced bottle of wine $50 for a $16 bottle that I found the next day at the ABC store). Läs mer

The beach is right on your door step if you want to go for a dip and sun-bake in the sand, or the massive, meandering resort pool is excellent to just cool down and float around in. This is the place to come and just lie by the pool and sip Mai Tai's while working on your tan. If you're after fast paced late night […] drinking and partying - this is not the place for you - got to Waikiki instead! If you are staying for a week or more, the luau at the resort is a must! I only have one complaint about this hotel. The mattress felt like an off the shelf mattress from 1974. For an upscale hotel like this I expected better. I did not get a good night sleep the whole week I was there. It makes it tough to recommend because I would not stay there again. Hotel quality and room quality was good along with restaurant and room service. Biggest issues laid in requests to staff were consistently incorrect during our stay a wake up call was scheduled but after repeating the time three times to reception it still occurred one hour late. Beautiful, meticulously groomed and maintained grounds. Atmosphere is boring and unwelcoming (no soul to the place). Strangely, many of our fellow guests seemed to fit right in with the generally boring self absorbed malaise that hung over the property. By the second day we just slept at the resort. We had budgeted $2k for dining, bar, and entertainment; […] we spent all but $250 elsewhere. Luckily we met a local couple that helped us find more welcoming and fun sights and properties that had some personality and atmosphere. The Hilton restaurants and bars were a lot of fun and the guests seemed to be actually enjoying themselves. By the way, if you plan to sit on your balcony enjoying a $20 cigar with a bottle of fine wine, watching the sunset... Forget about it! WE were ven upgraded from partial ocean view room to ocean front room which meant one could sit on the lanai seeing and hearing the ocean below and enjoying the birds of early morning. So, the pool which is large and not usually crowded was a good substitute. The Whaler's Villange Mall - a five minute walk away had some very good restaurants and shops to browse through. Great location may want to check to see if they are doing any renovations. Need to pay to for a chair on the beach. Since they were going under renovations in the pool area they should have offered free beach chairs. Only one restaurant was open due to renovations. Hotel location is main reason for positive rating. In our stay, we were offered an upgrade for extra $$$ and was a good buy as we were placed center ocean view. Housekeeping was terrible, and in our 5 nights, missed one day completely, needed to be called to clean room another, and one day wanted to clean at 9am, while next was 2pm. Hard to not have […] a good time in Maui, but Hotel did not do anything to accommodate. Other areas, i.e. bar, pool were great. Other than our room not being ready until after 3:00pm, the hotel and services were great. Short walking distance to the Whaler Village provided variety in dining. Beaches were right next to the hotel, easy access, and plenty of beach front. Definitely plan to stay there on our next Maui vacation.

This hotel was great. The bed and en-suite were good. Step in bath/shower. The air-conditioner was a bit noisy. Balcony was small, although the sunset view was beautiful every night. Apart from that the beach was fantastic. Swam with Green Turtles and heaps of fish (take or purchase googles and snorkel approx US$7).
