Taos is a beautiful city however the hotel selection for mid priced hotels is crummy. Next time we shall drive to Santa Fe for a place to room. Make sure when your in Taos to visit the Taos Pueblo. A exceptional piece of history.

Very quite rooms. Clean and adequate. Fair breakfast with fruit. Hot tub was clean. good value.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was newly decorated although the carpet needed shampooing amd the room smelled musty prior to running the fan. More attention to room cleaning is needed by housekeeping as we found a dirty towel behind the bathroom door, open beverages in the refrigerator and debris on the floor near the edge of the bed.

I stayed one night at this hotel; the staff were very friendly however there was not basic stuff in the room like shampoo, soap, tissue paper, etc. The lady at the front desk delivered it because of my request. The room had old dry wall holes that were not plastered over. Which I found to be creepy. The carpet looked old and dirty. There was an old plackers behind the night stand from a previous customer. I found a buger on the wall opposing the toilet. The peep hole had some white substand in it. You could not see through the peep hole. The draperies were […] not hung appropriately. They needed to be rehung with the proper hooks. The flap lock was missing the bottom screw. Which made it so it would not help as room protection. The continental breakfast only had carbohydrates with no protein for a sustainable breakfast. There was only pastries, oatmeal, waffles, and dry cereal. The room was actually really nice. Clean, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. The bathroom was a bit small, but really not a big deal. Location is good, but not quite close enough to the plaza to get there on foot. The biggest flaw with this place was there service. I just had the feeling that they really didn't care about you staying there or […] not. Check-in was awkward, they just handed me my stuff and went back to what they were doing. No information was given regarding checkout times, or even room location without me asking. Maybe I am being overly critical, but I have never stayed anywhere that the service staff did not offer even this basic information automatically. I was also turned off by the pool. There appeared to be a birthday party going on, and I am positive it was locals. They took over the entire pool, leaving us unable to use it. I felt that the hotel shouldn't have allowed that, only those paying to stay should be able to use the pool. Overall, if you don't care too much about service, then the hotel is nice. Perfect location to walk to the plaza, shops, the park - everything! We just needed a place to sleep so didn't have a chance to use the pool or hot tub but they looked very inviting! Look forward to staying again, next trip up.

This place would be okay for a family on a budget. Three problems. First, the place is in serious need for repair and upgrade. Second, the breakfast is just a cup of coffee and a danish. We rolled in late after a concert that was occupying most of the hotel rooms in Taos. It wasn't clear if the hotel staff/hotels.com had misplaced our reservation or just resold our room. We were rebooked into a smoking room, which smelled pretty bad. The staff provided some new pillows, which helped a bit. The front of the hotel and lobby were clean and well maintained. The inside pool did not appear as clean. The front desk staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room had a musty smell and the outside of the rooms and doors were shabby and unkept. It is right next to an empty lot which did not add to its appeal.

Won't go back -- the room just felt "dirty" and there was dirt on the bathroom floor. The breakfast was a joke. The pool was the only good part of the inn but there was no laundry facilities to dry the swimsuits so we had to dry them with the hair dryer.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Whitten Inn in Santa Fe, NM. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and courteous. I will definitely stay there again.

I was disappointed in the fact that they did not provide a decent breakfast. continental breakfast was a banana, sweet roll, coffee and cheerios, not quite a continental breakfast in my opinion. A variety of fruit at the very least would have been nice. The other guests that I talked to were displeased as well.

Hotel is in need of updating. The room looked like it had recently been repainted, but furniture was old and dirty. To me it looked like this was previously a smoking room, then converted to non-smoking, but nothing was replaced. So there was an stale odor to room, pillows and bedding. Staff was very friendly and lobby decent. Rooms are older but kept up as well as could be expected without actually remodeling. All in all, a fine hotel for a night or two if you want to stay in the area to ski. Not the best price but not too bad for the area.

I recently had a four night stay at the Whitten with my 10 y/o daughter for Spring Break. When comparing the overall value to the hotel amenities and service, I have to give the Whitten a very solid score. The Whitten came under new ownership several years ago and you can tell that they are making an effort to improve the overall condition. The indoor […] pool and hot tub were both double the size of what I would consider normal for this type of property. The pool was heated to the extent that I didn't feel the need to hit the hot tub. It was just that comfortable after a long day of skiing. Since it was Spring Break, the Inn was busy but not so much as to be a detriment to the overall service. The staff was pleasant and the morning breakfast fare was consistent. The staff did a good job of making sure that it was well stocked during the busy periods. Wireless internet is available, while I was kicked off a couple of times, there were several different connections and I was always re-connected in short order. When I hear people complain about internet connections, I would like to remind them that the more expensive the hotel, the more they charge for internet...and here it is free. Finally, for those not wanting to drive up to Ski Valley, the shuttle stops right in front of the hotel and is very convenient. This came in handy when I had a car issue. I would note that the Inn's owner offered to assist my daughter and I by arranging for a ride to the slopes and thereafter we used the shuttle. This was above and beyond the norm in my mind. Läs mer

We stayed there this past weekend and booked it based on location and affordability but NOT WORTH IT. I would ask for my money back!! It was a terrible stay!! I would not recommend it to anyone. It was dirty!! The room we stayed in smelled really bad (a mix of body odor, dirt in the carpet, some residue of smoke in the room), the carpet needs a good […] shampoo, and the shower lining needs a good 2 hour scrub. The air system worked in the room but unfortunately, the windows did not open to air out the odor and had to sleep with the bad circulating air. Our room was nice, clean and very reasonable. Unfortunately, we were there during the first night of spring break, and the large crowd of very loud college students were arriving from Texas and Oklahoma (or coming back from the bars for the early arrivals) until 3AM, making it really difficult to sleep. The best thing about this Hotel is the Indoor Pool and Hot Tub. The pool was kept nice and warm and the hot tub was very hot. Very nice to use after skiing in nearby Taos Ski Valley. Good location. This Motel has some maintenance issues though. The first night we were there the pool was not usable then two nights later the pool was working but the hot […] tub wasn't. The maid forgot to give us towels cups and coffee two of the three nights we stayed there. The staff also forgot to take some of the breakfest items out of the freezer the night before so one morning there was a very limited selection of food items to eat. Taos NM has many spectacular natural things to see within the surrounding areas of the town.. Therefore you wont want to stay in your hotel for the duration of your trip. At the end of the day. This is a cost-effective stay ( esp. for skiers) since it has some rooms with jacuzzi tubs (sep. shower/tub in bathroom). This is a very clean, no frills but roomy "hotel room". The in-room jacuzzi, refrigerator, microwave, cable tv make it a very comfortable stay. That and the fact that this is also a non-smoking hotel, is why we picked it over some […] of the others in the same price category to begin with. However, we will now choose it again in part, because of the friendly, prompt service! The customer before us smoked in the bathroom apparently. When we called the front desk, housekeeping was there immediately to use a machine to take away the smell and change the shower curtain, etc. The entire weekend, all staff was friendly, helpful & had great attitudes. There is also a well-maintained, warm, indoor pool and large hot-tub. Hotel is walking dis. to the "heart" of Taos, but far enough we chose to drive over, park, then walk around. Breakfast is basic waffles, cereal, danish, toasts, bananas, juice & coffee -no protein, yogurts, etc. ( Advice for management: Upkeep of the actual structure would look professional if a little more time/care were taken with details like caulking and wallpaper repair, etc. instead of the obvious quick jobs done currently.) My wife & I enjoyed are stay. We had the King room with fireplace and it was very cozy & clean. Sarah at the front desk greeted us as we entered & was very friendly & helpful with directions around town. The hot tub & pool area was very nice & maintained. This hotel met our needs. It is a simple, motel type feel, that was perfect for our short stay in Taos. Most people who stay there are skiers because it is less than a 15 minutes to the mountain. The Whitten Hotel in Taos was a short driving distance to everything you wanted I see. The rooms had a microwave and refrigerator as well which helps a lot for those of us carrying extra snacks and goodies on a road trip. The room was very spacious and comfortable.
