Nice Clean hotel with the best possible location in Madrid. First we got a small, dark room (707) facing a wall but after calling the reception they moved us to a nice room facing the street (601) with a balcony. The service was at it´s best 3 star since it was hard even getting a smile from the staff. The breakfast was bad, you can eat much better […] outside the hotel for half the price. The hotels best feature, and the only reason for why we chose it, was the roof top pool. The hotel should have the pool heated and cleaned. I only used the shower by the pool for cooling down since I didn´t feel comfortable going into a dirty and cold water. Go to the market at plaza san Miguel, have a gazpacho at plaza mayor and go on a tour with the hop on hop off bus. Good tapas at one of the museo de jamon stores. Läs mer

Great value! Best things: Rooftop pool with a magnificent view overlooking the entire town. The kindness to thank the guest for their reservation by sending up a bottle of chilled cava the first evening. Good breakfast - a little pricy though. Not so good: Having to pay for wifi. A bit aged.

Hotellets läge på Gran Via mkt centralt och utmärkt. Service var OK men inte mer. Vårt dubbelrum kallades för standard men var både extremt litet, mkt lyhört och kändes tyvärr lite sunkigt (heltäckningsmatta) Att hotellet har fyra stjärnor känns tveksamt. Måste ha funnits andra mer prisvärda hotell.

This hotel is slap bang in the theatre district and less than a 5 minute walk from a fantastic shopping area. The plaza espania is less than 5 minutes away and you can walk to the palacio real in under 15 minutes. Taxi's are reasonable and the hotel is located right next to the subway station, which is the easiest way to negotiate the city. Just stayed for one night in Madrid and this hotel suited our needs. We were able to walk to all the main attractions easily.

This hotel was only OK. It has a great location if you want to be in the heart of the action as it's right off the main drag. I didnt really care for the hotel service aside from the bartender who was great. Keep looking you can find a better hotel for teh money.

Right next to the metro station, across the street from a Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. Close to all the shopping and center of the city. Walked to the palace which took <15 minutes.

The hotel is very central and convenient for shops with a Metro station and bus stops just outside the door. Some traffic noise could be heard, but not overly intrusive, and you can't have it both ways. There is a cost to convenience. The bedroom was adequate in terms of it's size rather than generous, but was decorated to a good standard and was clean. […] Bathroom was a good size and very clean. Lots of marble. One of the large floor tiles was badly cracked and in need of replacement. Main gripe was that the air conditioning did not work and on the first night it was uncomfortably hot. (Opening the window produced traffic noise.) However, the weather cooled considerably and it was no longer an issue, so we did not report it. I suspect that it may not be switched on until later in the season. We were there in March. Breakfast consisted of the usual hams and cheeses, tomatoes, pastries, fruit juices coffee or tea. There was a cooked breakfast available at extra cost we believe. Whilst there was absolutely nothing wrong with the breakfast with which we were provided, I have had better. To summarize, the hotel is competent in what it does, but for us lacked the wow factor. I should add that as we were there early in the season the roof garden and pool had yet to open, and maybe that would provide the missing ingredient. This hotel is located on Gran Via which is right in the heart of Madrid. The convenience of walking everyone is unbeatable. You can walk pretty much anywhere from this location. Puerta Del Sol and Plaza Mayor is right around the corner. Service is really good and the rooms are very spacious and nicely maintained.

As best man I booked the Emperador for my brothers stag party. Now this is a classy hotel, so don't get the wrong idea, though we were attracted by its location and value for what it offered. It lived up to all expectations. Nice rooms, good showers, late check out. The location was perfect to reach the trendy Malasan area (like soho), which has great […] bars and clubs. Also very close to the central areas, for the relaxing tourist wanders when you're recovering from a 6am hangover. The only appointment's was that the pool on the roof doesn't open until May! Excellent location. Could not want better. Very nice service and nice room with excellent bathroom. Highly recommend.

Only location is good. Easy to access everything. But the shower water is so bad. Everything is out of date but if you like old style that will be good.

AWESOME! The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are not huge but certainly comfortable and clean. The bathrooms were very nice. Front desk staff polite and curteous. We flew in from Venice on a Saturday on our way back home to Miami. Our flight to Miami left the following day ( Sunday) so since we only had one night in Madrid we wanted to make sure […] we stayed in a hotel that was right in the middle of the action so we could just walk to all the cool places. Well, this hotel did not disappoint. It was right in the middle of everything! Right on the Gran Via which is the main drag on which or off of which all the action is located. We walked to Puerta del Sol, PLaza Mayor, Mercado San Miguel, etc... all the while stopping in at different little places for a drink and whatever little Tapas they had. Btw, Mercado san Miguel is a MUST do if you're in Madrid specially on a weekend night. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and would also recommend it. Läs mer

This hotel is an old one .the pictures are great and entrance is so beautiful ,but when u book online,they give u the worst room and it looks like a 2 star room max.

This hotel is perfectly located in central Madrid - all the key sights are within walking distance. Staff are friendly and helpful. Room was modern, fully air conditioned with good bathroom facilities. The rooftop terrace and pool are a perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing!

A really lovely hotel on the busy Gran Via. Easy walk to all the must see sights. Room was lovely, staff very pleasant and polite. Roof top pool is an added bonus

Have to say pool was the main attraction, is that why we choose this hotel. Its clean, we had a budget small room, breakfast a cross the road in very nice french bakery, where you can fresh OJ and fresh baked bread.

this hotel is an ideal place to stay while in madrid. staff were so helpful . roof garden and pool a real treat .will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is very convenient to all the must see sights in Madrid. There is a subway stop right across the street and it is within walking distance of many of the things you want to see in Madrid. The breakfast buffet is generous with some interesting Spanish things and all the normal breakfast items you are used to. The best part is the swimming pool, […] lounge and bar-cafe on the roof. There is a great view of Madrid from the Emperador's roof and the breeze at that altitude is a great cooling agent. The beach club is an incredible plus for the otherwise ordinary hotel. Läs mer

On arrival at the Hotel Emperador we were shown a room that was a small single at best and not fit for two people, when we asked for a change of room we were given a better one but still not up to the rate charged. The best about this hotel is it's location and roof-top pool and I feel the only reason why it is given 4 stars. Prices in the hotel for […] breakfast. drinks and wi-fi are too high. When we checked in the room we were put in was dreadful. I was incredibly disappointed. This "standard" room is not photographed on the website and i can see why. I have never seen such a poor example of a hotel room especially not in a hotel with 4 stars. The room was tiny, the decorations were old dark and wallpaper coming off the wall. The "view" […] was a window to a wall and nothing else. The beds were tiny single beds and very uncomfortable. The bathroom had a horrific brown suite in it. Overall it was dark depressing and in Major need of a re-vamp. When asked if we could move rooms it was not possible until the 3rd night. When we did move it was like going to another hotel! the room was light, well decorated, spacious and no horrific brown bathroom. The hotel Pool was lovely and I really recommend having a swim, a little cold when you first get in but thats really refreshing. It is in a really good location and you can walk to all the major sites in Madrid, and the area is nice and feels safe even late at night. The staff are friendly and helpful. However please be careful about rooms. we were originally in 640 it really was dreadful... my best suggestion would be to ask for a room with a view of the street they do have "standard" rooms with street views and this will make your stay a lot better. THE SHOWER UNITS IN EACH OF OUR THREE ROOMS WERE OF POOR QUALITY BUT WORKED FINE . THE AREA HAD MANY PICK-POCKETS WITH LITTLE POLICE PRESENCE TO DETER THEM BUT WE WERE OK .

This is a great hotel for the money. The rooms are big when comparing to other other hotels in this price range in Madrid. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was great. When I found out I had to go back to Madrid, I booked Emperador again since it was a no brainer.

Wonderful hotel - perfect location. Room was very quiet. English channels include Sky News and CNN. Unusually, we slept in until 11 each morning as the room was so quiet and there was no disturbance from cleaning staff. Pool opens at 11 in the morning. Stunning pool - they supply towels. Though you are not allowed to bring your own food or drinks, we […] brought up bottled water in our bag as it was over 30C and it is senseless to continually buy the water at their prices. A beer by the pool is about 5 euro and a coffee is 4.50. Ok for a treat but when you consider the normal prices in Madrid, it is expensive. There is a VIPS shop a few doors up from the hotel and we bought drinks (including wine) and sandwiches there (as well as croissants for breakfast). A nice brioche for breakfast is about 1 euro 50 and sandwiches were around 3 euro. There is also a supermarket nearby Cortes and we stocked up here also. We managed to fit two bottles of wine in our minibar by re-arranging their items as well as water and juice. Madrid is great - this was our second visit. The only thing good about this hotel is the rooftop pool. The location is great but so is many other hotels. The price we paid was very good but you get what you pay for...a very ugly and outdated room. The carpet was so old and outdated and the bed not too confortable. The hotel is lovely and luxurious - check out the large, roof-top pool with beautiful views. Oddly though, a few things in the room were broken, though they looked serviceable and fine (ie, simple maintenance that had been glossed over). Don't let this bother you though because the staff are wonderful and the location is great.

The Hotel looks impressive as you enter the lobby. When you enter your room you realize that this is a hotel of faded glory, in need of refurbishment. My main complaint about the hotel was the sleeping accomadations. The bed was like sleeping on a slab of rock, it was extremely uncomforatble, and the pillows were small and hard also. The bathroom was […] nice, all marble flooring, except the large tile in front of the sink rocked back and forth while shaving or brushing your teeth. The pool was big, however difficult to get in and out of as there were only ladders, no steps, and small children would have a difficult time as the pool is 4 meters deep or more. They require you only purchase water, soft drinks, or alcoholic beverages from the pool restaraunt, which is a total ripoff. I paid 6 Euro for a 7 oz bottle of Coca-Cola, which barely filled the glass. The staff was amazed when I advised that I would have paid about 75 cents in the US for the same soda. I will stay in another hotel I had looked at the next time I visit Madrid. The internet was also a ripoff, it should be free like most other hotels that consider themselves a four star hotel. A brilliantly located hotel on Gran Via, close to Sol and the surrounding amenities. Probably worth noting that it's next to Metro Santa Domingo and not Metro Gran Via, as per their website map. It's also a two minute walk from Metro Callao so very well situated. Great roof top pool, comfy room and a very swish bathroom. This hotel was a delightful surprise.On arrival I was given " a very big room" (a junior suite) as it was available. Although the decor is very traditional, my room was supremely comfortable, with tea & coffee making facilities and a blissfully large bed.I was sorry that I arrived too late in the evening to use the lovely swimming pool on the roof.The […] reception staff were kind and courteous and the breakfast was delicious. was sorry that I was only staying one night. Shame i can't say the same about the hotel, Lobby was really nice, The room, not so. Brown suite in the bathroom. 'Window' opened in to an ugly shaft. 8 floors down, room, very basic, Go to madrid, Dont stay here!!!

lives up to it's four stars up to date hotel roof top pool amazing, not for children though as too deep.Drinks quiet pricey in hotel. Would definitely stay here again just not purchase drinks here.

good enough and in town. the pool is also good on the roof but don´t order and drinks from there as ridiculously expensive and the room service food sucks but you are in Spain so you can find plenty of places to eat.

Really disappointed with this hotel. It is advertised as a 4* and I can only imagine that is due to the swimming pool on the roof which to be fair is a benefit; however the hotel itself is not up to much. Our room was tiny and when you opened the curtain, you are faced with surrounding walls, there was no natural light at all. The aircon was almost […] non existant. No tea/coffee making facilities, no complimentary water, just an overpriced mini bar. Wouldn't recommend room service, they charge you nearly €5 for a small coke and add on a €3 delivery charge. The hairdryer in the bathroom was archaic and overheated, burning you in the process. We asked to borrow an iron, we simply told no by the staff which are rude at best. When we asked for clarification, we were told for a charge of over €10 + 25% on top they would iron one item for us. The location is good, central and right near a tube and the pool is nice to have - again though the bar is ridiculously over-priced adn naturally, you are not allowed to bring your own drinks.
