The room was old and musty smelling. No central heating and air conditioning. Carpet seemed dirty old and needs replacing. Bathroom was clean, but in need of a remodel. This hotel does not seem to be in good condition. It looks like someone tried to cover up the funk with some pretty decorations (i.e., nice lobby, new carpet and bedding) but the place smells dingy. first of all i was surprised to see there was a $15 charge for parking. Come on, i paid $195 a night, then i upgraded for $50, at least supply parking.My girlfriend and i went to happy hour at the bar, there was only 1 bartender, and it was difficult to get a drink, then another bartender decided to help out and i gave my credit card. the first bartender […] then came back to us for a few drinks and didnt even know i gave my credit card, she was putting our drinks on another bill. There was chips and salsa on a table all by themselves, no plates no napkins. I stayed on a saturday night, at 5:00 sunday morning the smoke detector in the room was going of every 20 in, we called downstairs and they said they would send someone up, no one came up. i like the view and as a gym owner and personal trainer i liked the fitness gym. This was a wonderful, beautiful hotel. The staff was very nice and attentive. The room was very nice. We had a 1st floor room at which the sliding door faced the bay! We could walk out of that door, cross the street and be at the water. We brought a small dog with us, so it was very convenient to just open the door, and walk her. Its on a island, so […] not much traffic either. The only thing that we didn't care for was the restaurant food. To be fair though, we only got desert and breakfast, not a whole meal. The amenities were wonderful, there was a large pool, beach private beach, large lawn (in the back) for sunbathing or lawn games, and it has it's own private marina too, for those that would like to boat to the hotel. Overall I would have to say Great! The staff was very helpful and friendly. This is a must stay place if you like upscale. The location was great, and no resort fees, but parking is $15. But, if you are willing to walk 1 block, parking is free. I rented the suite,it was wonderful. I will stay there again.

Pool and hot tub are fantastic. Great location and airport shuttle service is a great perk. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Currently under renovation, so much of the outdated room furnishings and such will be improved within the year. Will definitely go again.

There was a musty smell of the room when closed up. Older hotel that needed a little more TLC. Restaurant and bar were disappointing. Our room was located too near the noisey pool maintenance motors. Nice place for a family stay. Fun pool, jacuzzi and outdoor games plus a man-made beach and playground area. We changed our room after the first night due to a funky smell, but the staff was extremely accommodating and moved us just across the hall to a room overlooking the marina. The staff is very friendly and the location is quiet and very close to the airport without being loud. It is an older hotel but it was not as terrible as some reviews said. The place definitely needs a face lift though. The room was a nice size and comfortable with 2 queen beds. The beds were old and a little uncomfortable. If you have a sensitive back they probably would be bad for you. The pillows were terrible and had to ask for additional pillows […] for the next night. My initial room was very small and the comforter had holes in it as feel as the sham and the carpet looked dirty. They did put us in a bigger more cleaner looking room and it was a lot better. Once this resort is updated it will be a very nice resort. The grounds were beautiful and the views were terrific. The hotel had a nice gym that looked out over the marina, which made working out more enjoyable. The room was just ok, as the pillows and mattress were not comfortable. Overall, the room could use updating. The staff was adequate, but missed a requested wake up call.

Restaurant and bar staff provided excellent service and good product. Front desk staff was mediocre at best, i.e., used a smile and pleasant voice while taking no action to actually provide any customer service.

This is a lovely hotel reminiscent of days when life was more peaceful and serene. Would definitely stay there again and again. Staff was so very courteous, rooms were clean, and our little veranda looking out over the Bay was heaven

What a wonderful stay! This resort has a very beautiful and inviting lobby. My wife and I spent 4 days in this resort. We had the choice of an accommodation on either the harbor or bay side. When we ask to accommodate us on the bay side, we got what we asked in a very spacious room, with room to put away our suit cases (like on a cruise ship). Our room […] was on the 2nd floor. The room was very nicely decorated, the walk out balcony view was superb, and the bed was very comfortable. Most of the time, I have difficulty getting a good night's rest at any hotel.This was certainly not the case. I slept well every night! The hotel does not have an elevator to the 2nd floor, and each time that I was taking luggage up or down, I did not have to ask for help. The management helped on both occasions. The attention to customer service by the management and their staff was stellar: from the volunteering of help with luggage all the way to our room and vehicle, to the special delivery of our breakfast vouchers, and to the customizing of our breakfast entree. Our stay included breakfast, which was in their elegant restaurant, with 5 entrees from which to choose. I tried 4, and they were all very good. 3 Other points, we did not use the spa, so we cannot comment. Our booking was done through Hotels.Com, which gave a better rate than any other for this resort. This resort is on an Island peninsula, so anticipate paying additional for parking. All in all, I would highly recommend this resort! Läs mer

Quiet location at the end of the Island is peaceful yet easily accessible to amenities on the rest of Shelter Island. Upgrades are about to begin this week so it will be even nicer soon. We booked a water front view and we received a parking lot, tree filled view. After complaining, the new manager allowed us to choose another room. This one was excellent. Marina view over looking the man made beach. Much better. It was upsetting at the time if arrival when we reminded the front desk worker that we booked a water view and didn't get […] it at first. Location, location, location! Great spot at the end of the pennisula. The hotel has a private beach and the pool overlooks the water. Our balcony looked out on a gorgeous view of the harbour and the boats. If you like to walk, there are miles of walking trails along the waterfront.

The hotel rooms are in need of major updating, dark, shower head needed work, not enough outlets, plug fell out of the outlets that were there. We stayed here 30 years ago and looked as though rooms never renovated. We basically only slept here catching an early flight. Wake up call a half hour late, good thing we set our phones. This was my second stay at the hotel. This time, to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This is an older but well maintained property. Upon check in, I happen to mention it was her birthday. A beautiful property in an oasis location, but one in need of renovation, which, we were told, is about to begin (spring 2013). The beds were too soft, presumably from years of service. The pillows were terrible, but when we complained, the manager not only replaced them with new and better pillows, but also gave us certificates for free breakfasts. […] The airport shuttle drivers, the front desk staff, and the restaurant and bar servers were all top-notch. The place was exactly as the web site said, there was a great salt water pool, large hot tub, on a quite street , not far from great restaurants, lots of boat activity in the harbor , Staff were very helpful. This is a spot I could recommend very quickly. One minor issue, the web site said nothing about the $15.00 a night charge to park in the hotel […] lot.
