Right at the waterfront, close to wide selection of restaurants and shops. Close to major freeways and to the Washington Park with the Rose Test Garden and Japanese Garden. Only complaint we would have, and minor at that, was the layout of the room with the bathroom very close to the bed and closet.

If you book online, pay for the river view room, otherwise they will stick you in a room by the elevators and you will listen to that all night. The staff seemed very nice, but not very knowledgeable about Portland or the surrounding area. The room was clean. The self parking fee listed on Hotels.com is wrong, it's actually more money so be aware. This is an awesome hotel. Don't let the simple lobby or the exterior architecture fool you. This is definetly a 4 star hotel.The location is absolutely perfect. All the max lines are either right outside the door or a block or two away. Going back for sure.

The location is excellent for business in and around the World Trade Center, just a couple blocks from the hotel. The inter-city bus line runs right by the hotel. I have stay here before. Unfortunately, on this trip I was first given a room that had someone in it, the second room had a nice view of the river, but also faced the traffic and also the […] bus line. Hotel was everything we needed and more until we were pulling back the covers to go to bed. As soon as I pulled back the duvet cover I saw a white "love stained" hand print, and as I pulled back the covers more I saw a larger "love stain". This was disgusting and a utter laziness on behalf of the hotel. Were they trying to be cheap by trying to flip […] the comforter over? I would have given this hotel 5 s on everything if this would not have occurred. If you stay at this hotel beware of its attempt to cut corners in skimping on clean the rooms after each guest stays. I will not be coming back because even after this was brought to the attention of the front desk little was done to make our stay comfortable or to better the situation. I traveled to Portland for a conference, I could not afford the conference hotel so I stayed at hotel 50. It was a clean, well managed, and friendly hotel, answering many of my questions. Location is close to public transportation and the riverfront. I would elect to stay here again and would recommend to friends and family.

The hotel is clean, the rooms are well appointed and it is near the train making travel easy. While desk service was excellent, service in the restaurant during the breakfast was poor - waiters were slow, non attentive and seemed to disappear for long periods two consecutive days.

Really like it and will stay again soon, my only concern was the courtyard view stated was a parking lot so I felt milead and the train rumble a bit of a distraction. All in all no problem.

We have stayed at this hotel before, but I am not sure we will do so again. We could not get the heat to work. They said they had two boilers and you had to turn the thermastat to the left to have it kick on. We have alway come to Portand in July so maybe we just never noticed it before. Also, we have never stayed in a room where there was only a hole […] in the floor for the shower. No enclosure, no curtain. Water everywhere. You had to mop the whole floor and toilet seat, which was two feet from the shower. Also came back at 6:30 p.m. and the room was not made up. Läs mer

For my boyfriends bday, it's now a tradition to go to Portland for the weekend. I decided to try Hotel Fifty out this time around bc hotels.com had a deal on it. I was able to check-in earlier, which was very convenient. The front desk was always helpful when I asked for something ( I felt like I always bothered them, lol). The room was very nice... […] comfy & BIG bed. Nice TV, cute bathroom, etc. My only "complaint" was that my view was the parking lot, but too be honest I am don't care too much. I had a good time around Portland for a Blazers vs. Clippers game, some shopping, and trying downtown restaurants. I definitely would suggest this hotel to my family & friends! Läs mer

Everyone at the hotel was very nice, and upbeat. I didn't really make use of the hotel for more than a place to stay, but the internet service was certainly fast enough to upload a few photos of the trip. Also, when I arrived earlier than normal check-in time, the front desk personnel worked to ensure a room was ready for me to drop my bags in. Not […] only that, he upgraded me to a river view room. (Nice view of the Willamette River from the fifth floor.) One suggestion: When checking in with a prepaid reservation through a service like Expedia, it would be nice if the hotel informed guests that they would still see a hold of $50 per night booked for incidental charges. This is a very lovely hotel although a bit on the pricey side, especially when they charge you twice! I've stayed twice and both times I've been double charged and the manager is never around to help sort out the financial problem! It's nt worth the hassle. I won't be going back here.

Very comfortable beds--firm but not hard, with a duvet, and an afghan for just curling up to read. Four pillows with two different "firmness" so you can choose what suits. Three out of four reception staff were welcoming and informative, the other was informative but a bit abrupt, which was surprising as it wasn't busy. Located conveniently near the […] I5 without the noise, and one block from the MAX transit. Other reviewers mention the noise from the MAX (screeching wheels as it rounds the corner) and from our room it could be heard but not enough to disturb our sleep (courtyard double double) or TV watching (two HBO channels). I was a bit surprised at the cost of the parking ($24 per day) and even if you do have in and out privileges, it seemed expensive given that it was for hotel guests only. This was our first, and last, stay at the Hotel Fifty. There are major issues with the heating in this hotel. You have to turn the heater all the way UP too turn it off. There is no level of temperature comfort in the rooms at the Hotel Fifty; it is either WAY too hot or way too cold. We were particularly disappointed with the "city view" room for […] the price, which overlooked the Max (light rail) track. The train goes by every few minutes, and besides being loud, it makes the entire room shake. The walls are VERY thin here, and we had to listen to obnoxious guests next door having sex and banging against the walls for hours while we were trying to sleep. In addition, the room and bathroom was not particularly clean; there was a rusty, dirty access door underneath the sink counter in the bathroom that covered up who knows what, and all of the walls had black greasy scuffs on them. The glass shower was wide open, and did not have a closable door, so consequently, water leaked all over the floor. The hallway was dark and smelled like old dusty carpeting, and since something in the hotel gave me a major allergy attack right as we entered the hallway, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the musty old carpet. Basically, this place appeared as an old low-end hotel that was reformatted in an attempt to have a younger hipster vibe, without any of the quality I would expect for a hotel of this price or location. Rented a nice room for New Years Eve with a river view to watch the fire works. Spoiler alert: there are no fireworks downtown Portland for New Years. Even that didn't ruin the night. Location is great, view of the river was great, the rooms are small but very nice and staff was great too. Good location if you wish to walk downtown Portland. Powell's Books is twenty minutes away, and Voodoo donuts is about ten minutes. There are also plenty of food carts in the area. This is an older hotel, but the beds are quite nice. Room cleaning was slow. Our room sometime wasn't cleaned by the time we came back from walking around (3:30 pm). Also, […] the self-parking fee is now $24 per night, not the $22 as indicated. The complimentary health club (Bally's) a couple of blocks away is no longer in operation either. Hotel 50 is a tastful bit of a revamped Best Western with a great view. Everything was perfect from service to amenities. The restaurant and staff were pleasant and the portions of food were just the right side. I stayed at the Marriot on Broadway for two of my four night and there I had no cell phone reception in my room and they charged $2.75 per […] hour for wifi. Only negative was the restaurant manager ignored us while we waited in the bar for a drink for over ten minutes. He was talking to an attractive female for several minutes about something business related but never acknowleged us or sent any staff our way. He then got two wine glasses from beside the bar and left never to return, we finally got up and […] left after at least 15 minutes with no service.
