Very friendly exklusive hotel, fun for kids. Stupid and outdated that it has no fre wi-fi, you have to pay an extra $ 14.95 for it!

We stayed here for two weeks. We fell in love with the area and the staff was so kind. A park close to the hotel where you can work out, lay in the sun or just walk around. Plenty of shopping can be made because there is a nice outdoor "mall" (The Grove) close to the hotel. A beutiful place. I recommend this hotel.

Good enough for my purposes. Not the nicest or newest place, but that wasn't important to me. A little bar connected to the hotel was a big plus, and the little restaurant next door (Uncle John's), was actually pretty great! "concert getaway"
Was a very nice hotel, liked the fact that it was walking distance to event, grocery store and bank. The receptionist was very helpful. "Decent for price and location"
It's an old hotel, out dated furniture, there's nothing glamourous about this hotel for sure, but based on price and location you can't beat it. Beds were surprisingly really comfy and linens were clean and soft. Bathroom was decently clean. Comes with fridge that was actually cold when we arrived. Ok customer service, no complaints. Location is great for my needs. There is no parking available. They consider themselves to be a budget hotel and they have that right. The location of this hotel is great if you need to be in downtown LA on a budget. Water pressure is also excellent and there was a big empty fridge. However the rating is justified. my first impression of the hotel was "oh no what have i done" , but the staff was fantastic , the room was very clean as were the lobby and hallways (very old decore though), we had clean towels every day and a fridge in the room , that was very handy!! we were on the 10th floor so noise was not an issue , the staples center and convention center are […] a 10 minute walk or about a $5.00 cab ride , all in all a most unexpected nice stay for the price (that was the best part!!!) I read so much BS about condition and the neighborhood and blah blah blah. 1. You are in the downtown area of a major city and they are in full swing working to develop it a la NYC. 2. Keep your lips closed unless you want to drop 150.00+ Great location. "Not Bad for Hooligans"
I stayed the night with my four buddies after driving to LA to see Swedish House Mafia play. We got a corner room on the tenth floor which was pretty ideal. The location wasn't bad and I feel as if I payed very little for booking. "Clean and Simple"
This was a one night stay for me and my friends before our hotel for a conference. It was clean and comfortable. The man at the front desk was very helpful- from towels to food recommendations. We picked it because of its location and were pleased overall. It was clean and priced well. This is not for those who want luxury. So I read the reviews of this hotel, and many people didnt like the hotel due to it being older, a little out-datted, etc. Well what I can say is.. those people are ridiculous. "Give this place a break!"
We expected to be underwhelmed by the hotel based on most of the reviews we read. That being said, we also needed to go as low ball as we dared on price for a room as this was an out of town splurge to see The Who and we wanted to be near the Staples center for the concert. So, when we checked in we expected the very dated decor, sort of questionable […] elevator (which worked, a plus since we were on the 10th floor!) and ambience of our room. But all things considered, it was fine. Everything worked, it was clean and the bed was really comfortable. We had a good night's sleep and in my life paying 100 bucks to sleep anywhere is more then I want to pay but I doubt any other options that would have cost far more would have had me saying, Oh, so glad I paid more for this! The Stillwell was just fine for our needs and I'd go there again. Maybe not if I won the lottery, but for what I feel willing to spend on a night away from home, this place works just fine. "Probably awesome in the 50's"
We arrived around 4 to check in. The bar downstairs was extremely loud, but I was happy I was able to get a drink before we left for the show. I went up to the room and when I walked in I contemplated walking downstairs and saying no thanks. It was pretty rough. The smell of old bum was strong in the room. Old and extremely outdated. Stopped into the […] bar to have a drink on my way out. Locals were scary and mean, bartender sucked and ignored me for 10 minutes, then when I asked for service she very short and rude to me. Nice room, lucky enough to get on the 10th floor - we had an amazing view. Kinda shabby elevator and walls, but clean and inviting. "Been around the world and this is the worst place"
I have been all around the world and have stayed in many of places and this by far was the worst place I have ever stayed in. The rooms are tired, old and are dirty. No one came to make up the room or to give clean towels. One good thing, no bed bugs. I did a really good check of the bed and none to be found, so that is one good thing the Stillwell […] has going for it. The staff on late at night was no help and he seemed upset that I bothered him. My advice stay clear of the Stillwell. You might be better off staying with the homeless in the shelter. "Well located and great stuff in a budget hotel."
Although decor was very dated. Location and friendly staff made up it. At first glance I thought it was one of the worse hotels I ever stayed in. But I got over the old TV, ugly furniture, cheap pillows and shampoo. It was nice to have a fridge in the room, the internet connection was fast and free and the staff provided me with a hair dryer. "Inexpensive old hotel close to LA Live/Staples"
This is an old hotel, and some of the floors (not the guest floors, far as I could tell) are occupied by people on housing assistance. So it's kind of an S.R.O. hotel, but there are also lots of travelers including international travelers. There's a funky old bar, a breakfast diner and an Indian restaurant in the lobby. The rooms are small and old fashioned, […] but everything worked and was clean. The price was great, about what you'd pay for a motel in the middle of nowhere, yet this is three blocks from the whole LA Live/Staples complex and only one block from new restaurants, lofts, etc. Parking was not included but just a couple of dollars at one of the lots on either side of the building, so very convenient. WiFi was free and worked fine. When there are lots of conventions and events going on in downtown LA, it can be impossible to find a room that's walking distance to downtown attractions. This fit the bill just fine. And if you've read some John Fante or Charles Bukowski, you'll feel like you're in one of those '40s hotels in the old Los Angeles. Läs merVerifierad gästrecension

"Okay place, evil lady."
Hotel wasn't too bad. Stayed there for a night because of an event my friends an I were attending. I had two visitors over just for about an hour or so and as we went down the elevator into the lobby one of the rudest employees I had probably ever met in my life started to approach us in a manner where she tried to sound nice but wasn't at all. It made […] her have an evil tone. Her sarcasm didn't please me whatsoever. She gave my friends and I a hard time thinking that we would end up with 10 people by the end of the night which was absolutely not the case. She made me feel very unwelcome and ruined my mood. The hotel was old school which I didn't mind at all, the only thing that bothered me so much was this lady who might have been the owner or the manager.
