Hotell Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La - Penang

Very nice property. The surrounding area is not as nice and the beach is not private (was a big feastival when I went so was hard to enjoy the beach, which has jelly fish so you cant swim anyway). But hotel has great services and staff is very nice and helpful. I did an amazing cooking class at the Spice Garden which I highly recommend as well.

The lobby is impressive but not the room. I would stay in another hotel for my next visit. the rooms need to be refurbish escpecially the toilet.

Resort is big, comfortable & service & facilities are good.You can relax by the beach and/or pool & do nothing, or keep busy with lots of activities. Plenty of eateries, small shops & the night market nearby, should you need anything or want to get out of the hotel.

Overall we had a really enjoyable stay. The room is large, bed is comfortable, free wifi in room. The hotel gardens are nicely maintained, with lots of beach lounge chairs and thatched roof tables and chairs for guests. There are 2 large swimming pools and one kid pool. There is a Cool Lounge for Golden Circle members. Hotel location is quite far from the city centre and Gurney Drive. There is a shuttle bus service that takes guests to the Traders Hotel, another Shangri- La group hotel in town, which is right next to Komtar and other big shopping complexes, if you want some shopping. The Golden Sands is a great hotel with most staff being very friendly and helpful. The hillside rooms unfortunately get the 5am chanting of the mosque nearby so if you have the extra cash pay for a sea view upgrade. The buffet breakfast is amazing and the pool side restaurant serves fabulous food. The hotel was in an excellent location, on the beach and in middle of the night market. Breakfast in the hotel was all anyone could ask for. We enjoyed the pools and there were plenty of lounges and chairs under shade to relax on. A small point but one that we enjoyed was having a free lending library.

This resort is lovely. We checked in late after 15 hours of travelling and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was tidy and clean with all the things that you need to keep you going. The pool area was fab, so relaxing and really I felt I could have stayed longer. The daily breakdfast buffet is the best I have had in Malaysia with variety […] and efficient service. The lobby area is busy and there are always lots of people around so at times a little loud. The location is great, across the road from KFC, McDonalds and a Seven Eleven. Frequent visitor to Golden Sands Hotel since 1985.have always enjoyed our stay there.its definitely our favourite hotel when in Penang.very clean and rooms are warm and cosy and their service is excellent.

We spent a wonderful four nights at The Golden Sands, the staff were warm and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable. A special mention goes to Sigis Bar & Grill and the staff there not forgetting the excellent food. THANK YOU

We stayed at the Golden Sands Resort for three nights and found it did not meet the standards expected of a hotel billed as four star or of the Shangri-La brand. I really cannot find fault with this hotel. There are a few points that require some improvement. availability of rooms when guest arrives. Showers are not sealed correctly so a wet floor can be unpleasant.

The service at this resort is next to none. The staff especially Bipul in the Garden Cafe Restaurant and Kenny duty manager were unbelievable. The activities in the pool - volley ball and netball were hilarious, great way to meet other guests. The food was in abundance and a brilliant variety - the seafood buffet is a must! • Located in the heart of Batu Feringgi – night market starts at the entrance of the hotel • At checkout I was frustrated at the level of confusion going on behind the desk and around the lobby. • Breakfast buffet was lavish and had many choices • Garden/swimming area is large and pretty • Water activities are available right outside the hotel on the […] public beach (be sure to bargain for the best price) • Staff was not friendly and not helpful at all. One staff member disclosed personal details of another guest staying at the hotel. • Room was very filthy (had to change 3 rooms in the first hour). Was assigned twin beds, instead of a king bed because they just “ran out”. Dirt spots were on the couch. You can hear all the sounds from the corridor. Bathroom was filthy and the bathtub was gross & not maintained. Towels were terrible did not dry anything & some were ripped and spotted. • Lighting in room was terrible & not directed properly. Room was facing a parking lot. We had selected a ' Hill view ' room in making our booking but were startled to hear the very amplified ' Call to prayer ' from near-by, prior to 6.00am. on our first two mornings. We were happy to pay a small additional charge to move to an ' Ocean view ' room and for the rest of our stay we had no disturbances. My Wife & I were welcomed to the recently refurbished hotel, we had a hills view room on 1st floor, which was well maintained, empty bar fridge in room for your cool drinks, hair drier provided, ice on request. Buffet Breakfast was provided with a huge choice of foods including fresh cooked omelettes & eggs, most other foods help yourselves, fruit, […] turkey bacon, Sausage & asian foods (curry, etc). 3off computers provided in guest lounge connected to 'net, as well as connections in each room. Swimming pools great & well maintained with free towels & a lifeguards monitoring pools (3off). Lots of activities for children. The hotel is well located on the Batu Ferringi beach, evening meals are available near the hotel, also the hotel has reasonable priced buffet dinners about 3 times weekly. All guests of various nationalities appeared relaxed & happy & there were no problems as everything was well run & organised. Many of the guests were repeat customers, so this showed that the Golden Sands was popular.3 Food, clothing, luggage, giftware are all reasonably priced. Wine was expensive, so buy some duty free on outward journey. I commend duty Manager Selva on his welcome at check in & took us to our room to describe features. 全体的に古いが十分にメンテナンスされているようで居心地が良い。 特に風呂場では古さを感じたが、お湯は問題なく使えたし、部屋も十分広い。 ロビー、庭は特に居心地が良く散歩するのに良い。 一日中、のんびりするのに良い所だと思う。 私の部屋はエレベーターに近く、音が気になったがビーチにも出やすいので便利だった。 日が出ているときはビーチでのんびりしたり、iPadを持ってロビーでネットしたりした。 また部屋にはＤＶＤプレーヤーもあるのでＤＶＤを持っていけば良かった。 子供はＤＶＤが無くてもプールや海岸の散歩で十分に楽しんでいた。

プールが目的での滞在でした。広くて３つもあり大変よかったのですが後半、子供がプールの入らなくなってしまいました。特定のお国の団体の方々がプールの中で鼻をかむ、タンを吐くなど、かなり人数、頻度で目の前でされてしまいまして子供がプールを拒否するようになってしまいました。半公共の場ですのでホテルの方には注意書のボードなど設置して頂きたいものです。残念な滞在でした。

今回夫婦での参加でしたが、子供連れ、特に小学生以下の子供を連れた家族が多く見受けられました。もちろん、カップルや年配の方も多く来ていて、プールサイドでのんびり過ごしていました。 プールサイドでは、プールバレーやアクアビクス等、イベントが多くあり、飽きさせない趣向が嬉しかったです。 日本人スタッフが常駐しているようで、日本人比率は思った以上に高く、2割くらいに感じました。 景色を楽しむのなら、1泊5,000円から8,000円くらい高くなってしまいますが、上層階がおススメです。 また、食事は近くに屋台やレストランが豊富なので、飽きません。ビールはコンビニより個人商店の方が安かったです。

部屋は非常にゆったりしており、きれいに掃除している。 ただ、鳥とか飛んでいるため、鳥の糞などが非常に多い。嫌いな人は不向きです。 欧米人の老夫婦とか、若い恋人たち、そぢて現地のファミリーが多くみられる。非常にファミリー向けなビーチです。しいて言えば、ビーチのボート勧誘がちょっとうるさい。 部屋はきれいに掃除しており、冷房も効いているし、窓を開けると暖かい海風が来るし、閉めるとひんやりとした冷房で過ごせることで、非常に快適と思います。 朝のバイキングも搾りたてのジュールなど果物の種類も豊富し、おいしかった。 お勧めできます。

Wir waren im Sept. 12 dort zu Gast für 4 Nächte. Es ist ein großer Bau aus den 80 gern. Die Zimmer sind Stilvoll eingerichtet und die Balkone sind Pflicht bei diesem Hotel. Das nicht viele gute Standhotels gibt ist das mit Sicherheit das beste Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Hotelgäste können die gesamte Anlage vom ShangriLa mitbenutzen.
