The Grand Oslo Hotel is very grand! It is beautiful! However, it is directly across the street from the Parliment building many protests go on in the square. We were there for a Saturday night stay no one at the front desk mentioned to us that the square has music and loud noise until 3:00 a.m. I could not sleep! I made ear plugs out of tissue covered […] my head oh my god nothing help. I just could not sleep. At 3:30 in the morning I went down to the front desk and they apologized the noise happens every Friday and Saturday night. They did offer to remove all my extra charges which was nice. We had to be up to catch a 7:00 am flight I was so sick. I reccomend this hotel it is beautiful howvever Do not stay on the front of the building. Läs mer

It was close to all the sights which was great as we had two children with us.It had a luxurious feel to it but I didn't feel that the staff were well trained.They were not able to help me when i wanted to book tickets for the city bus but it did say in the room that the staff could book tickets.The breakfast was scrumptious it was to every one taste.The […] waitresses were the most unhelpful and miserable looking staff i have ever seen in a hotel.When your on holidays its nice for the staff to be pleasant.Here most of them were unhappy and didn't want to be there. air conditioning didn't work which made it hard to sleep at night.we were watching t.v with the kids one night and the house keeping manager just opened the door and walked in she didn't give an explanation why Läs mer

good hotel, right out the hotel door is Oslo at your fingertips. Pricey of course as all Norway is. The kids at the front desk (the reception staff) are great and have a wealth of city information. Breakfast is good but crowded due to chair and table arrangements. Not much to the rooms but we all know this is a tourist hotel. Best part is Oslo and their […] bus,metro, and tram systems. Great location, great service. Place is lovely, super 5 star breakfast, stayed in a family room for 3 nights. Great value in a pricey city. Pool is lovely in the top floor spa.Highly recommend the Grand.

Very pleasant stay - - wonderful and helpful staff.

The initial room we were given on level 3 was very old with a distinct smell. Construction noise in the rooms next door was very annoying. TV was not working. When we complained we got upgraded to a suit on the 5th floor where the room was well decorated and without the smell.

We stayed in the Grand for several days on business, and were very pleased with the free WiFi. The hotel itself is lovely and our room was clean and comfortable. Our only complaints are that neither the air conditioner or bar fridge were working. Quiet, luxurious room in the middle of Oslo with friendly staff.

Is in the center of downtown. Down the street from the palace & across the street from Parliment. Shopping & restaurants close by. We were able to walk everywhere. The pool was amazing. A nice bar and patio at the top of the hotel. Breakfast buffet in the morning was very tasty. Many choices to choose from. You will not be hungry.

Fantastic location which encouraged site seeing by walking and some distances by tram. Everything is so conveniently located from the hotel with very good outside bars and restaurants.

Too many faults to list: Some rooms require a revamp; Some rooms are opposite a building that plays EXTREMELY loud music until 02:30 hours; Concierge staff are very slow to respond; The air fans cannot be turned off; No tea / coffee facilities in some rooms. No conditioner in bathrooms; Note that construction work is being carried out next to the hotel […] so some rooms are noisy. The breakfast is pretty good. Location is perfect. Läs mer

Central locationbut not noisy. Bus to airport behind hotel and very good service. Close to all the sites and facing a delightful square.Within walking distance to good shops and places to eat. Very close to Nobel Peace Hall Centre which is a must visit to see it great displays. Staff very friendly and gave helpful and useful advice about places to visit […] and how to get there on foot. The hotel location is great, and the architecture of the building is beautiful. However, we made a sad joke with my partner at breakfast: there hotels that are "wannabes", this one is "usedtobe". Although the front desk clerks and concierge were efficient and smiling, the bellboys (which often make a difference between 2-star and 5-star hotels, were […] totally ignorant of their guests: they simply stood statue-like behind the desk, watching guests push the heavy doors open or drag their bags up the stairs. A Scandinavian friend told me that this is "typical service" here, you ask if you want to be served, they will not offer; or, as she put it, "we are more for self-service". Five-start self-service... The situation was virtually the same at the Grand Café, where breakfast was served. Mind you, the café in itself is beautiful and the buffet offered plenty to choose from, but the service was minimal, if at all. We had to wait every morning at the entrance, by the register, for someone to come and check our room number. The waiters seems to know very little about waiting on guests (and this happened at lunch, too) - there was rarely any question as to whether we need anything, we had to ask every single time for a re-fill of our coffee cups (and we twice got tea instead!), one waiter dropped a load of cups (luckily empty) next to our table on her way to the kitchen, etc. I saw plenty of people get bored waiting for coffee and got up and went to the coffee stations (which were not part of the buffet, but for staff use only) and helped themselves to coffee or tea from the pots - not once did any waiter react and offer to pour the coffee... After lunch we waited for several minutes for a waiter to pass by and ask for the bill and eventually went to the register by the door and try to pay there - yet we were "kindly" told to go and wait at the table because the waiter will come. Very nice but needs updating. Expensive garage parking. Excellent morning buffet and evening restaurant. Great location on main pedestrian mall. Overpriced for the label of "Grand."

Great location in Oslo and friendly staff made our stay very enjoyable. Do be aware that the rooms can get very warm and it is difficult to cool them down without opening windows, which can lead to lots of street noise (we were out partying too so it didn't really bother us too much). At checkout I asked the woman at the Front Desk to order a cab, she […] said just go outside and ask the bellman, well it was raining out I tried to explain to her. We ordered a cab from the bellman and waited 20mins before being told that the cabs were not going to be coming around so we should manage to get to the airport some other way. Well, in the pouring rain we ran to the Central Station and caught the Express Train to the airport. If we had been informed 20 mins earlier as to the situation, it would have been appreciated. And the bellman made no attempt to assist us with getting to the airport. Other than this, we enjoyed our stay. Läs mer

The hotel is situated in a beautiful area, but it could stand another renovation. Some of the older rooms in the older section of the hotel are not that easy to get to with luggage. You have to go up or down a half flight of stairs to get to the rooms. Oslo is a beautiful city and a lot of sights are easy to get to once you get a feel for the public […] transportation system. The Grand Hotel is the ideal place to stay in Oslo. Having stayed in several 5 star hotels, this is one of the nicest and elegant experiences we have had. Definitely the premier place to stay in Oslo. The location is perfect, and the staff is incredibly friendly. And the breakfast is perhaps the best breakfast experience in Scandinavia. Worth paying more because of its history, location and excellent condition. The concierge and staff were extremely helpful, the breakfast in the Grand Cafe was sumptuous, and the our room was quite large. Only negative was the late night music from the cafe across the street, but we dealt with that with earplugs. The outdoor area of the cafe was perfect […] for people watching. It was a lovely hotel with a very nice buffet breakfast included in the nightly stay and the price from Hotels.com was very good. But the room did not have air conditioning and it was quite warm and humid in the room and the windows, which overlooked a delivery area and hotel rooms surrounded this area making any "fresh air" impossible. Also, Norway […] in itself is extremely expensive and apparently laundromats are nearly nonexistent and there was none anywhere near the Grand. Having the hotel do our laundry would have cost us over $500 USD...and that was just for approximately 12 pair of men and women's underwear, 8 pair of men's socks and about 8 T-shirts and a pair of jeans. I did our laundry by hand in the bathtub and hung everything up as best I could, but because of the lack of air circulation and humidity in the room it took more than 36 hours for everything to dry and we even had to iron socks to help them dry. Info about the hotels in Norway need to include information about what the laundry service costs...the Grand was not alone in this expensive amenity. I did go to the spa one evening and had a wonderful back, neck and shoulder massage and the cost for that was very reasonable. Läs mer

Two things are outstanding about this hotel - the ideal location and the magnificent breakfast. Otherwise this is a very average four-star at best property. And while there are charming imperfections, attributed to age, there are also maintenance issues - things like wall paper tears, scratched furniture, and old mattresses - that leave much to be desired. […] Our room had to be changed three times - the first was small and dingy, the second had been used by someone else after it had been serviced, the third was lovely. While forgivable - sorting this matter out took an additional hour of our time - which is unforgivable. Also, while the hotel boasts a spa - the hours are peculiar. Spa services are unavailable before 1 p.m. Also the pool/steam/sauna - opens at 8 a.m. but closes at 10 a.m. - so these areas are unavailable from 10 a.m. until the spa re-opens at 1 p.m. And, despite a sign limiting children in the pool to four - this is not enforced. Not a problem, except - the pool is just outside the treatment rooms - and no 'spa" experience should include screaming children. Hotel has a great location, and excellent service staff, comfortable beds. Our room was in need of a lot of repairs - Toilet flushed over 20 times when flushed, floor tiles missing on bathroom floor, shower panel leaked, holes in bathroom door. For a 5 star hotel and the price, the rooms should be immaculate and with everything working well.

Great central location. One of the most high end hotels I have stayed at in Europe. I stayed in a junior suite. plenty of space. large bathroom. friendly and courteous staff who spoke fluent English and went out of their way to help and ensure a comfortable stay. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about it.

We had a wonderful time at the Grand Hotel. Slept well and really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. It is in a wonderful location for walking to the National Museum and to the Fort and old castle. There are lots of places to eat nearby!

We got a great deal on the Grand, and it was worth it... The only problem was a malfunctioning AC on the room, but no questions asked, we were upgraded to a suite, in under 30 minutes. The breakfast is the best I ever had, in any hotel in the world, and the location alone is worth the price.

positionally one could not ask for more. very central.very freindly and efficient staff, wonderful breakfast, my issue was the rooms. there is a difference between "classicly grand- wonderfully grand" and just plain old. the rooms are tired, old, flimsy beds, tired bathrooms, this hotel needs a re-furb.

Great Location with very nice Staff. The Restaurant has great Service and very Pricey Food. Dinner for 3 was ~$180.00, and yet worth almost every pretty penny. The location is BEST for Oslo, because it's in the Center of Everything. Hotel exceeded our expectations. Staff was the best

As I understand this hotel is undergoing rennovations but the room I had was old, dated and worn. Having said that, the location was fabulous and the rate was very competitive. The breakfast buffet was extensive. The hotel's 'gym' was a disappointment as it was just a small guest room with two mirrors and 3 cardio machines - no weights, no space to […] stretch, no free weights, etc. I would recommend this hotel for the price and location only. I would not have rated this hotel a 4 or 5 star when comparing to other 4 and 5 star hotels in Norway and throughout Europe. Läs mer

We chose the hotel mainly for the fact that we could enjoy a five star hotel on a three star price and any disapointments we could write down to experience. It appeared we got a gem for other facts: great central location, excellent service and food, historical background. Some suggestions for improvement: 1. Inform traveller from the begining […] about the parking being limited to 1.9 m. I had to back out my minibus up the ramp and almost burned down the cluch. 2. Inform the traveller about the OSLO PASS and how to use it to suit his needs. I was informed that the parking was not included in the price of the room, subsequantly informed that I could use the PASS as a parking ticket on streets around the hotel but only after being directed to a privat parking, with a fee higher than the cost of the OSLO PASS. 3. It was a great hotel, but there isn't much to do in Oslo...i heard the countryside is much better

Great hotel experience! This is a beautiful hotel, very nicely decorated and luxurious. Located right on the strip in the center of Oslo, so it's very easy to access many of the sights as well as lots of cafes, bars, and restaurants. Close to the subway system, too. I know there is a shuttle or something to get from the airport, but unfortunately we […] took a taxi - very, very pricey! Check out the shuttle before you arrive. The room included a sumptuous breakfast buffet in the cafe every morning. Very comfortable bed and large bathroom with a big tub as well as a narrow stall shower. Our room looked out over the square in front of the Stortinget. Great view of all the activity going on. Can get a bit loud with the windows open - Oslo is a late-night city. The windows and drapes would have shut out most of the revelry, but we opted for the fresh air despite the noise. We were there during a Norway Scotland football match (which Norway won!) and the city was filled with boisterous Scotsmen in kilts. I will always associate Oslo with drunken 3am renditions of "Scotland the Brave" played on bagpipes! Läs mer

Terrific location and interesting history are the upsides. The downsides are that the hotel is older and needs updating. The service is variable.

Great hotel with lovely, bi-lingual helpful staff right in the centre of the main street in Oslo (Karl Johanes Gate), walking distance to Royal Palace, exciting waterfront etc. Lucky enough to enjoy Oslo Jazz, Rock & Mela festivals. Great breakfast, but don't go near the mini bar !

Great historical building. Breakfast buffet was wonderful, but it was absolutely crowded. I could not connect to the Internet inside my room --I had to move to the lobby.

The hotel is beautiful is the heart of Oslo. The breakfast was delicious, the room and staff fantastic. A must see hotel.

The Grand Hotel Oslo appears to be the landmark hotel of this capital city. Whereas the Hotel may have seen better days, it is still Grand and certainly in a good location at the center of everything.

Absolutely top class and well worth the extra couple of pounds per night. First impression you get when you walk into the magnificent foyer is breathtaking and you won't be dissapointed with the rest of your stay.Don't miss the swimming and sauna on level seven and if you have any questions or problems the ever friendly staff will be only too eager […] to help.
