It's a large hotel but we stayed in the main building with the front desk. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. We stayed in the double bed Gulf facing room which was fine but nothing fancy. The hotel I suspect is older and has been heavily used especially during spring break and many years of sea air, with that said it's in pretty good […] shape. Great little Holiday Inn. Close to Restuarants for families or adults. Beautiful beach. Tkik Bar bartender Waylan was great-good service very friendly.

Myself and family was very pleased!!! Yes the part of the hotel we was in could use some updating but we didnt care ! The view was breath taking the pool.was fabulous. I cant wait to go back!!! Also it was on short notice when we went and i was so glad they could accommodate us!!!

Great view! Staff needs to be a little more attentive, but overall - an excellent value!

Pleasant stay just took forever to get deposit back cause I'm under 23 said that manger was only one with key to deposits and that they were all off so if u deposit do credit unless u wana wait an hour and half extra

We had a beautiful oceanfront room. They could really invest in some sound proofing though as we could hear every little whisper in the hallway and the baseball players in the room above us were having their own unofficial WWE wrestling match. The housekeepers did not come unless they were called which I was not happy about, the pregnant woman working […] the front desk had a bit of an attitude as did the manager til she realized I was a platinum customer ( I am a bit young looking). They do have a place to rent free movies that was awesome, room service was decent and at a fair price for once, the beds were not comfortable, but the linens were. Near lots of things to do. I was "upgraded" to a king studio suite, but I'm not so sure it was a trade up. The hotel is pretty old, and there have been no renovations to the rooms, at least not in the building in which we stayed. The carpet needed replacing, the couch was horrible, and the bathroom was tiny, making it very hard for two people to get ready at the same time. The room was outdated from at least 20 years ago. You could hear every sound from anyone coming from the elevator which was right outside our door. The a/c unit was loud and rattled in the wall the whole time it ran. The fridge was old and loud. It sounded like an animal scratching on the carpet. The noises kept us up the entire night. We stayed here after changing our plans due to Hurricane Irene. Overall, the facility was OK. We had a 1st room floor which was actually fine since my wife has some problems with her legs. Room was somewhat small but passable. Ice machine was outside our room so we did get to hear when it was being used. We did have some issues with parking since a section of the parking lot was cordoned off but we had no idea why. Overall staff was friendly and courteous. Location was very good. Beautiful beach. But I was not happy with the room condition. Carpet was dirty, room was small, looked old. But we liked the huge pool and the other services they offered to the kids. My five year old son loved the water slide and the pool. We stayed two nights on the way back to TN from LA. It's a decent hotel for a beach hotel (you know what I mean... most beach hotels are run down). The rooms have recently had a facelift, but if you look close enough you can see the scars of old rooms. The pool is nice (and shaded in the afternoon) and the hotel is really close to the beach. Having […] two beach chairs and an umbrella included with the reservation was great. The location is really close to several restaurants and shops. There's a Publix about a 5 minute drive if you need to stock up on snacks. We didn't try the hotel restaurant or bar. We did have two problems with the room. The first night we noticed the mini fridge was working. I tinkered with it for a few minutes before I realized it wasn't plugged up (typical guy... avoid the obvious). Once plugged, it started working, but within about two hours we started to notice a horrible smell. A cross between spoiled milk, rancid meat, and death. I opened the fridge and was knocked down by the odor. I don' t know what happened to the fridge in a past life, but whatever it was, it wasn't good. I unplugged it and went to the main desk (I needed ice for our cooler since the fridge was out) and was told they'd make a note of it for maintenance in the morning (it was around 10pm or so). Got back to the room and decided that we couldn't sleep with that smell, so I carried the fridge out and put it on the balcony. The next morning we spent on the beach. We come back to the room and the lock isn't working. I had noticed the night before that the deadbolt was malfunctioning. The lock would turn, but the deadbolt itself wouldn't extract. Apparently, with the lock turned (but the deadbolt not out), the electronic lock wouldn't allow access to the room. Back to the front desk where they dispatched maintenance right away. Once in the room, it took the guy an hour to replace the entire lock. He also mentioned that the fridge hadn't been replaced because they couldn't ge Läs mer

Hotels.com helped me to locate a beachfront room. We wanted beachfront...not located near! Also very convenient location near Destin Harbor where we went out on the Full Draw and caught a boat full. It was close to many good seafood restaurants and fun shopping. Can't wait to go back again.

This hotel is decent, but can't imagine ever staying a week there. We, family of 3, stayed for one night and found the room to be very little (both the room and the bathroom area). The breakfast buffet room is also very small and not set up to handle the amount of people that stay at their hotel. Being right on the beach makes this an awesome hotel. The beach is just across a walkway and is a beautiful white sand beach with clear water. This hotel also let's you rent as many movies as you want from the lobby! Wonderful vacation destination.

The hotel was very nice if you want to stay right on the beach! Room 720 has a beautiful view of the beach! The hotel is not the most clean and if you want to have a great place to go to dinner within walking distance (not at the hotel) then this is not the place to go. But the restaurant at the hotel is nice. The "fitness center' isn't that great - […] a treadmill that kept cutting off, a stair stepper, and a very old bike. But then you do have the beach if you want to walk on the beach. The staff was very nice and friendly - a plus! Couldn't get the wireless internet to work at all. Holiday Inn "Resort" is a joke. This hotel is nothing like a resort.. You are charged way too much for the service you receive. Our first problem was that our room was right across from the icemaker. Insist on another room of this happens to you. We had to go buy sleep medicine to get through the week.. (They would not let us change rooms.) The Mini […] fridge motor was suppose to blow up and made all kinds of noise so we had to unplug that also to be able to get any amount of sleep. IF room service made their way to any of the rooms its after 4pm.. By that time we were ready to get showers and go out to eat but of course had no Clean towels. The only good thing about this hotel is they offer free beach side chairs and umbrellas aside the pretty beaches and white sand. I would recommend staying somewhere in Destin, that is where all the attractions are. The hotel is atleast 15 miles from any good restaurants and tourist attractions. Rooms were dark and dingy and hot every night when the thermostats were shut down. The heated pool was dirty. It was not vacuumed a single time during our 6 night stay. It would make a ok vacation hotel for those who want to spend the majority of their time on the beach. Not that close to resturants it is in a Condo area. Not a bad location just an older hotel.

The only negative is that we were the only guests staying on the 7th floor which was under reconstruction. All of the other room doors were open so you had to pass these dark gaping doorways at night. The hallways were dimmly lit. Since it was just the three of us ladies together, it felt creepy coming in at night. It felt like "The Shining". However, […] it is the off season and they are upgrading. I stayed for two nights with my fiance. We had a marvelous time. It is in a good area right off the strip but very chill-ax. I recommend it anyone. The rates were decent for a beachfront property. The room was clean, huge king bed. Nice staff..they have two pool areas. One has basketball goals and a slide, and the other has a hot tub! Everything was above average, the only problem we had was there request to leave the balcony door closed. We requested and paid extra for a balcony so we could hear the ocean.

Hotel was a couple older buildings but for the most part were in good condition. The pools were nice and having the beachside chairs and umbrellas service was excellent. The beach was beautiful. The bartender was helpful and kind when asked questions about local attractions and places to eat. Furniture in room was showing it's age. Refrig at least 12 years old. Cheap clock radio that didn't work and had to get another from front office. Hotel was nice, but the ice machines were always broken and there were plumbing problems with our building during our stay. Loved the location and family friendly environment!

My husband and I checked in late on a Friday and had paid the "Lower King Room" rate which happened to land us a very large room with a pull out couch on the first floor near the pool. From my understanding, this was the only room like this at the hotel and we happened to get it first. We felt very "taken care of" as we were staying 4 nights and the […] extra space was very nice. The room was nice and cool, and even had a dvd player in addition to the tv, fridge, and microwave. The carpet was newer and nice, and the bed was covered with a heavy cotton bedspread between 2 sparkling white 100% cotton sateen sheets that made it like a duvet (it was very nice to sleep under with our sunburns later, very soft). The pillows were new and very plump. The bathroom was nice: tiled floor, new glass vanity light fixture, fresh painted walls, tub shower with a really nice chrome shower head. The beach is amazing!! The Holiday Inn SunSpree puts out chairs and umbrellas for you for free (we tipped the guy) - this made our beach days so much nicer, an escape from the hot sun, and perfect for reading without squinting. The water is literally Clear, and you can see small white fish hanging out on the bottom, even at waist deep water! The waves are calm, small children could play without being toppled over by every wave. The pool is pretty large and has a slide for kids (and adults!) and is heated. We really enjoyed taking a dip at night after dinner. There was also a tiki bar located adjacent to the pool that provided a hangout for the adults during the day and at night. The on-site restaurant was hit and miss. Order the Seafood Gumbo or the She Crab soup; both were excellent. The street that this hotel is on is the perfect place to be. It's very close to Ft. Walton attractions like the Gulfarium and is about 5 minutes to Destin where you'll find a higher concentration of restaurants/shops/watersports/traffic.
