I can highly recommend this atypical hotel. An old motor yacht, located near Gamla Stan, close to attractions and with beautiful views. Though winter is not usually a good time for the boating life in Scandinavia, Mälerdrottningen is still a nice place to stay.

När byggnation runt båten är klart är det ett bra alternativ om man accepterar våningssäng och duschen är inte att rekommendera eftersom toa och dusch är i ett - ingen dusch kabin.

trevlig personal. mycket bra läge, mitt i stan. jag har bott där flera gånger, alltid bra bemötande. Dessutom är det trevligt att bo på en båt. Man sover gott när båten rör sig.

Helt OK hotell, bara man inser att det är ett fartyg, dvs lite trånga hytter, några brantare trappor, liten toa/dusch, våningssäng. Rent och snyggt, bra frukost. Kan rekomenderas som alternativ till standardhotellen från de stora kedjorna.

Negativt: Små rum. Smutsigt. Slitet. Relativt dyrt. WiFi fungerar dåligt, när vi bodde där var flera accesspunkter ej i drift. Dålig WC. Duschen är ett skämt! Små sängar. Personalen är dåligt informerad/påläst. Positivt: Godkänd frukost. Nära till tunnelbanan (Gamla Stan)

det var ju en båt så klart blir det lite trångt..men det var vi medvetna om.Det fungerade bra för oss. (inget för äldre med våningsäng) bra personal,lungt och tyst,rent. charmigt ställe ! frukosten - dög inte så mycket att välja på men OK. bra centralt läge när vi var där pågick ett stort bygge-inte så fint att se på men det störde ej

This hotel is a boat. As such you need to be prepared to walk in narrow stairs and passages. You will probably also hear some machinery and possibly the odd passing boat. This being said, looking out the window and having the water directly outside is stunning. Soothing sound of water against the hull. A very nice and pretty spacious cabin. piitoreskt boende med fantanstisk utsikt över riddarfjärden och stadshuset. skulle inte välja det i höstovädret för jag tror det gungar (är sjösjuk). rent och snyggt.

Är man ute efter ett billigt och centralt hotell endast för övernattning duger Mälardrottningen utmärkt. Man bör däremot ha i åtanke att det ar ett fartyg och inte ett lyxhotell med alla tänkbara faciliteter. M.a.o. får man vad man betalar for. Frukosten var av standardklass och där fanns inget att klaga på.

Jag och min dotter är inga vana hotellbesökare, så vi hade inga förväntningar åt något håll. Men vi blev glatt överraskade av denna vistelse. Och så nära Centralstationen och Gamla stan, 5-10 min promenad. Rummet var litet men välstädat och sängarna var sköna. Vilket täcke och kudde, underbart! Vi hade tillgång till egen dusch och toalett. För att duscha […] fick man vinkla ut väggen, så utrymmet var inte det största. Frukosten var inte överdådig, men innehöll allt en frukost bör. Vi gick mätta och nöjda från bordet. Vi bodde två personer två nätter på båten. Vi trivdes bra och gillade stället, men det finns ingen bekvämlighet att vänta här. Rummet, eller rättare sagt - hytten, är trång och inte särskilt rolig. Inga dubbelsängar, liten TV med skralt kanalutbud, ingen soffa eller liknande, badrummet är av ungefär samma standard som på en fritidsbåt eller i en husvagn. […] Men om man bortser från just den biten så är det för övrigt toppen. Läget är det bästa du kan hitta. Riddarholmskajen är som en lugn oas ett stenkast från myllret, och dessutom med en fantastisk utsikt. Vi satt om kvällarna högst upp på däck på båten och bara njöt. Om frukostbuffén finns inte så mycket att säga, den är inget märkvärdig men godkänd. Ett annat plus är att det går att parkera bilen precis utanför landgången. Läs mer

My husband and I fully enjoyed our stay on the boat! Lovely warm room, maybe a bit too warm at times! Pleasant staff with a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast was lovely, great selection of food. Location was ideal. We would recommend this place to anyone!

Very comfortable (albeit small) rooms, in an amazingly central location. I was pleasantly surprised over the very modern, clean en-suite bathroom, extremely comfortable bed, free wireless internet, great breakfast in the morning (included)... and it's lots of fun to spend the night on a boat. Boats are charming but not always the best when it comes to the actual hotel experience. The smell of diesel and run-down boat in the entrance, had me believe for a brief moment that I had made a mistake in booking Mälardrottningen. This negative impression didn't last very long. My cabin was smaller than a reglar hotel room, but definitely large enough, […] very clean and pleasant and the bed was comfortable and tall enough for my 1,90. This hotel was comfortable and clean with excellent service and friendly, English speaking staff. The food for breakfast and dinner was also great. Try their Glogg! The only thing which might deter someone from staying here is that the rooms are very small. But they are comfortable for one person and the bedding is SO soft and warm! I booked Mälardrottningen because it was close to my meetings... I really did not have any expectations at all. Walking on board i was pleasent surprised of the enviroment that was really typical for a boat, but as functional as a big receptiondesk anywhere. The rooms where clean and nice and the bed and covers where better than anyother hotel i stayed […] at. The breakfast was just as great as the rest. So my warmest recomendation for Mälardrottningen! This is a very cozy ship lying in the harbor in the center of Stockholm. Friendly reception people. The room was a small cabin but with a very comftable bed, shower and toilet. Breakfast very good. Really value for monney

The boat is in a very central but quiet location, close to Gamla Stan with great views across the water. Even though we had a bunk bed cabin it felt spacious, but the walls are thin as we could hear the people next door. Breakfast buffet was great - plenty of tasty things to fill up with for a day of sightseeing.

great location, wonderful ambiente, nice staff, good value

3 minutes from the subway station, 5 from Gamla Stan, the hotel location is unbeatable. The cabin is very, very small, so is the single bed with a rather soft mattress. No view from the tiny porthole. All the essentials are there, all is very clean and breakfast is super nice. If you are looking for space this is not the place for you.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was everything and more of what I hoped for. the location was perfect to walk everywhere. I felt safe in the neighborhood. The restaurant had wonderful food. The breakfast was great and my room was very small but filled my needs. I would certainly stay here again on a future visit. Staying at the Mälardrottningen was a fun ( I haven't slept in a top bunk for about 50 years) expericence! Even thought the room was tiny we had a wonderful time . Loved the location and the outdoor cafe just outside the front entrance, overlooking an incredible view. We would definitely stay there again!

My smoke detector triggered from the heat of my shower. It was OK, but I found it weird that no worker on the boat asked me if I were OK.

I spent a night in this ship-hotel. The cabin-room had a water-conduit inside. From around 11pm a series of floods and flushes started to cross the conduit very loudly. I was already sleeping at that time and it was quite scary to wake up in the night for the loud sound of water flushing in a ship. The sounds didn't stop for an most than 30 minutes […] and the receptionist couldn't help. The flushes started again after 6 in the morning which made impossible to have a good night-rest. I was very disappointed and tired. The hotel completely failed to ensure its primary service: a calm night-sleep. The rreception had no official form for making complaints, only an e-mail address was given to send my complain. No reactions until now. Läs mer

Great location to Gamla Stan.

It's definitely worth the experience if you like a bit of an adventure. The scenery on the "port" side of the boat is fantastic and the location a short walk from Gamla Stan and Slussen is very convenient for strolling. Breakfast was a very good quality wide selection of Swedish fare. The only downside is the size of the rooms. It's a boat so rooms […] are obviously very small. It was a little uncomfortable. This hotel is actually a middle-size ship, whose cabins are refurbished to be used as guest rooms. It has a very good location for tourists for two reasons. 1: It is almost at the geographical center of stockholm, which is around 5 minutes walk to the old stockholm (where the royal palace is), 15 minutes to the famous city hall and 20 minutes to central […] station. 2: The location where the ship is parked is actually a scenic point by itself, which appears in many picture poster of stockholm (you can even find the ship itself in many posters). Right from the ship, you have a very good view to the city hall on the other side of the water. Everyday, we could see tourist bus took people to this point, taking pics and so on. The only issue about location is that, don't underestimate the winter of sweden. In particular, a 20 minutes walk in late March from the hotel to central station can still take quite of your energe, and you definitely don't want to do it frequently. The main negative side about this hotel is that the room is very very very small, especially in the bathroom. I turely doubt that whether a real big guy, say a 300 pounder, can sit on the toilet in the bathroom, as the distance from the toilet to the wall in front of it may only be 20 or 30 cm. So, basically, the room in this hotel can do the basic job, namely, letting you take a shower, have a sleep, check your e-mail (free wifi), look at the news (TV with very limited chanels), and walk around easily. But besides that, you really shouldn't expect more from it. For the food, the breakfast buffet was pretty good (included in the reservation). You have a good number of choises from egg, yogurt, bread to bacon, sausage and fruit. Of course, coffee and orange juice are also included. The last thing is that I strongly recommend the dinner buffet at the hotel resturaunt (located at the head of the ship). What a fabulous experience... this hotel is actually on board a ship! It floats in the harbour with really great views across Stockholm. The cabins are clean and comfortable and the atmosphere and ambience is excellent. The ship is 85 years old and classically built... it has class and reminds us of how they used to travel before the aeroplane.
