Hotell DoubleTree by Hilton London Victoria - London

When we checked in, the front desk clerk was very short with me and wouldn't answer my questions. She was not an effective multitasker. I booked the hotel before it became a Doubletree. We were supposed to get free Internet but the hotel refused to honor it. Then they charged us for Internet we didn't use. The shower drain needed cleaning out because […] I was left standing in 3 inches of water. Location and the Doubletree cookie were the only highlights of the hotel. Läs mer

I bought a pint of Becks at the bar, only to be charged £4.20. I pointed out an earlier pint was £3.80. The barmaid was extremely rude, saying it was a service charge I didn't have to pay, and that it was in the drinks menu. Except it isn't - and she hadn't given me a menu anyway. I was disgusted with her aggressive and discourteous manner.

We struggled a bit trying to find the hotel after arriving at Victoria station - but quickly found out that there was a shortcut into the station right opposite the hotel entrance. Also, there were no free internet at the hotel - a bummer, it's 2012 right?

good hotel . wifi far to expensive go to any pub cafe etc ang get it free. breakfast at overpriced again go out and get it for half the price.

The Hotel was reasonably comfortable though, as a family of three the room was a bit on the cramped side. On arrival our toilet was blocked & the air con wasn't operating. To be fair the toilet issue was fixed very quickly however the air con only worked for the first night of our 4 night stay, dissapointing as the room was very warm at night. Unfortunately […] the room we were in was dated and needed a freshen up(not quite the standard you would expect at a Hilton related hotel). Breakfast had a good buffet selection though it did seem strange to have to wait for a table when busy. Location was fantastic with Buckingham Palace just round the corner and easy access to the tube and bus station. The staff were very helpfull and accomodating. Would use this hotel again however I would rather wait until the refurbishment was completed. Läs mer

DoubleTree Hotel is literally 45 seconds walk from Victoria Station (we timed it) with makes it extremely convenient for getting around. We didn't spend much time in the area but took the train to Oxford Street + surrounding area every day. There are cheaper hotels around, but it's great value for the money - a lovely breakfast buffet, a bar with reasonable […] prices and a warm chocolate cookie at check-in! My only complaint is that the wifi is unreasonably expensive - it would be a great added service at no great cost to them to offer it for free. Still, I recommend it and would stay there agian. Enjoyed our stay, staff were friendly and welcoming . Easy to get to main attractions via the underground train from the hotel, good value for money!

Stayed here for one night in April whilst on business. Convenient location at the back of Victoria tube/rail station. My room was on the 7th floor overlooking the railway station but I wasn't disturbed by noise as other reviews have suggested. The room was clean & comfortable - firm bed, good blackout curtains and hot water which are all vital for a […] good stay. All of the staff were welcoming and helpful. Food was good - I ate in the Bar area on Sunday night which was reasonably priced & wide choice available at breakfast. The welcome cookie when I arrived after a long journey was a nice touch. The location is super, accros the street is victoria station. The staff is excelent in all aspects. we were very happy ith the service and location

We were surprised when we arrived and the Hotel name had changed. We were never notified before we left that the hotel was under renovations or that it had changed owners. It had been under new owners about i and 1/2 months before we arrived, so they had plenty of time to notify us. However, the Hilton was more than helpful, and quite willing to do […] whatever it took to make our stay pleasant. This is the ideal location for a London vacation. We would recommend it to anyone using Gatwick airport. it is LITERALLY across the street from Victoria station, so it is convienent to go Anywhere!! The area is very safe, My husband and I walked around at night until midnight enjoying the atmosphere and felt comfortable never afraid. There is always something open to eat and shop. There are quite a few pubs in the area, the food was amazing at St. Georges pub at the end of the street. Lots of construction going on in the area due to the olympics this summer, but it was not disruptive really. We will definately stay here again. Läs mer

We really enjoyed our stay at the Double Tree Victoria. Having flown into Gatwick and gotten the Gatwick Express into Victoria rather late in the evening it was wonderful to just cross the road and find our hotel and we were plesantly surprised when the receptionist offered us an up grade!! Great location for Victoria Rail and coach, plus very central for London. Great idea of warm cookies on arrival, and refreshment tray.

This hotel is perfectly located at the back of Victoria Train Station. Room had everything you need and would definately stay again.

The location is prime. Due maintanence work, noise in the day time and couldnt talk over phone the properly. Bit surprised with the cleaning as the staff use the same cloth to clean toilet, bath tub and the tea cups. I will never the cups in the hotel. This is a good hotel in a good location, however, we arrived right in the middle of its refurbishment to the Double tree. We had not been informed of this change and as a result, we weren;t sure if we were at the right place! The staff were quite dismissive and said that the hotel would be finished on 14th February. this was not helpful to us - we were […] leaving on the 11th! The dust and disruption in the restaurant and bar areas meant that the bar consisted of a couple of fold-away tables in the mezzanine area and the breakfast was served in the conference room, with no table cloths provided. The breakfast was overcooked and had probably been first served the day before, it was so dry. There was no running water in the toilets and paper towels had been strewn over the floors. We passed on our complaints to the duty manager on check out and so this is not one of those reviews with no backbone.. We are still awaiting the promised response.... Great location, can easily access to Victoria station just crossing the street. We just went in the middle of their renovation to become a Double Tree hotel. Breakfast is just OK, not so many choices..If you want to save some money just eat around the block. Would definitely stay there again.

Hesperia's ground floor (restaurant, bar, check-in, main lobby, elevator lobby) was u/c during stay, preparing conversion to Hilton brand and for Royal Jubilee and 2012 Olympics. (The whole of London seems u/c.) Disruption is reflected in discounted rates and was expected but grd-flr dust control could have been much better. Room was clean, functional, […] and well-serviced but wifi came and went. Front rooms overlook back of Victoria Stn and its trash compactor site. Very conveniently located Hotel, minutes walk from Belgravia, Victoria Station & coach station. Hotel is undergoing a refurb to the reception and ground floor areas. Overall a well located, clean, reasonable hotel for it's location. Breakfast at £18.00 per head a bit steep, but loads of places to eat brakfast nearby.

This is more than I am used to paying for a hotel. I have to say one good thing about Hesperia. When I booked on Hotels.com, the price jumped about 25%. Ouch!! I told Hesperia and they upgraded my room. I was grateful for the gesture, as the issue was no fault of theirs. Thanks Hesperia!

Good location across the street from Victoria Train station and tube station. Temperature control in the rooms was poor and the pillows were horrible

This hotel is situated right next to Victoria station. At first it seemed like a dogy area, but it is completely safe. You have tube and train access in immediate vicinity and quite a few pubs as well. The hotel was being renovated while we were there, so the reception area was very small. The room looked like it was recently remodeled, but I do not […] know if all the rooms are done yet. Very comfortable beds and very clean. We stayed on the 8th floor with a view over the station, but we didn't hear anything through the windows, so the vicinity to Victoria is no problem. Dont stay here until the renovations are finished. Having breakfast next to a noisy drill is not much fun. Can hear the drills on the 5th floor. I would not have paid if I hadn't went through hotels.com.

small rooms, beds nothings more than a box of springs, hallways and reception desk look like after an earthquake. for the price we paid, very disappointing!

We had a suite in 9 floor. It was a nice room, but there was a door to the neighboring suite that was anything but soundproof. Impossible for our kids to sleep when there were others in the room!

I couldn't believe how beautiful this hotel was! It was literally right across the street from the Victoria train station, but the windows blocked out almost all of the sound so it was nothing but convenient. There was a fantastic view from the room we stayed in and the room itself was totally spotless. The bed was really comfortable, the shower had […] a detachable head and was even high enough that my rather tall boyfriend didn't have to bend his head to wash his hair (it was the only shower in Europe we found that was like that). There was plenty of light and huge windows, and one of the coolest parts about it? The room had an American power jack, which was fantastic seeing as it was the only time our entire trip that we could charge more than one thing at a time. Not to mention the price, which was incredible for the quality; especially for all the help the employees at the front desk gave us... I honestly couldn't be happier with this hotel, the only problem? We were sad to leave! I'll DEFINITELY be staying at this hotel the next time I go to London! Läs mer

The location was excellent to the Rail Station and the Underground. A friendly local pub was just a block away. The hotel was under construction probably getting ready for the Olympics so we didn't get a feel for its full potentional. This hotel is not luxurious, but honestly (other than an alarm clock) it has everything that one could need, including refrigerator/minibar (which however the staff kept neglecting to restock, despite my frequent reminders). The breakfast was fine to my taste, but my 20 year-old daughter did not like it. The room was quite clean, and the beds/pillows […] were very comfortable. The shower was quite acceptable; plenty of hot H2O with a forceful stream. The soap bars were very small and dissolved after 1 person's use, but that problem was easily solved by asking for several more bars of soap! However the front desk staff was not too bright; once we asked the concierge to help us book tickets for the Eurostar and he told us twice that the charge wouldn't go through on my debit card, despite the fact that I had plenty of money in my account. A little later we discovered that the reason it didn't go through was that he had put down United Kingdom as the country we live in (we're actually from the USA!) The hotel is right next to Victoria Station, which makes it very convenient, although the view from the windows is not attractive and it is somewhat noisy if one were to stay on 1 of the lower floors (we were on the 5th floor, so the noise was not a problem). All in all, the hotel is quite adequate and I do recommend it if you want a reasonably priced hotel in a good location. Läs mer

Acceptable and convenient to Victoria station...right across the street from the hotel. Very central There must have been something wrong with the heating and cooling because the entire hotel was a sauna and the air con wasn't working in the hotel. Air con in dec...yes. I booked a double but when I arrived was told only twin bedded rooms were available. When I protested they said they had one double after all. It turned out to be a room for a disabled person. There was no carpet so the floor was cold and clinical and no shower enclosure so water went all over the bathroom floor. Oyher than that, the bed was comfortable […] and the room clean. This hotel was nice with its modern decor and good location right next to the train station and a few blocks from Buckingham Palace. The bed was comfortable, the room was nice, but there is little space to move around in the room due to large furniture and poor views from the room window... which wasn't an issue for us at all. We are very easy going […] people, and we don't require much. However, we do like for our shower/bath to drain properly. Within a matter of seconds after turning on the shower or tub spout, the tub would be filled with water. The drain was clogged with other visitors hair, dirt, etc. We advised the front desk, and they moved us to another room. We quickly discovered the new room had the same issue. We were tired, it was late, so we thought we would sleep on it and discuss it with management in the morning. We spoke with the manager, and she advised us the tub drain would be repaired immediately. We returned to the hotel later that day, and the tub still would not drain. Of course the manager and maintenance was gone for the day. We checked out early the next morning and was not able to discuss the issue with management again. European hotels charge visitors before checking in, so they had their money and wasn't concerned. We really liked the hotel but didn't appreciate standing in several inches of water filled with other people's scummy dirt that had been built up in the drains. This hotel is very convenient for train/tube travel as it sits across the street from Victoria station. I ahve stayed there on 3 recent business trips in the past 2 years. The rooms are nice (although a few are quite small), the bed is very comfortable and the desk area is ample. However, the biggest problem is the quality and nonreliability of their […] free wireless internet in the rooms. It sometimes takes 10-15 attempts to connect over a 20 minute period with repeated logging in and logging out and rebooting of the computer to get a connection. The signal strength appears to be good, but it just won't connect. This is extremely frustrating and annoying and my cause me to not stay there in the future. Läs mer
