Service was excellent. The double double room was very nice and well maintained. Oddly, there was no trash can in the bathroom, and I would have like a mini fridge in the room.

We can't say enough good things about Hotel Phillips. The hotel is beautiful and the staff was amazing and the location was perfect! We had a personal issues come up and the staff went above and beyond to help us handle the problem and still enjoy the weekend. The service was the best we've ever had. There was a loud dog barking during the night. When I called the front desk to complain their response was that the guest with the dog had to pay $25 extra to keep the dog in his room and yes it probably was barking. I picked this hotel merely for it's close proximity to a concert I was attending. To be honest that's the only reason why it's to expensive. There is nothing mind blowing about this hotel. My first impression walking into the hotel was, "wow! This is nice." Checking in was a breeze and the staff was friendly. Our room was nice and big which was what we expected for an executive room. The only downfall was the bathroom. It was small and out dated. I don't know why but the first thing I noticed was that the bathroom didn't have a full or […] half roll of toilet paper. It was more like a fourth of a roll. There was no replacement roll either, which I thought was odd. I informed the front desk and they corrected it right away. The toilet kept making a bubbling and flushing sound in the morning which was really disturbing. We only stayed one night so it didn't bother us too much. We unfortunately arrived much later than planned as we were hoping to check out some of the downtown attractions, however, the staff eagerly valet our car and delivered our luggage to the room which after a long trip this was a very nice experience. We decided to grab a beverage in the lounge with an appetizer before heading back to the room, the service […] was good, and so was the appetizer. The room was what I expected but could have been vacuumed a little better but other than that it was fine. As you might expect it was a little chaotic while we were trying to reload the car. As with our previous visits to Hotel Phillips the rooms were clean, the staff friendly and accommodating and the beds feel like heaven. My husband and I live in the Kansas City area and were downtown Kansas City last Saturday night. We decided to stay downtown on the spur of the moment and immediately thought of Hotel Phillips. We booked the room on […] line and the staff were very accommodating of our late check in (we didn't book room until 8 pm and checked in after pm). A quick phone call ensured thestaff were apprised of our situation and we were greeted by name upon arrival. The valet staff were friendly, professional and efficient. We greatly enjoyed our stay and are planning for additional stays in the future. The hotel is within walking distance to P&L and we walked to the Bristol for brunch on Sunday morning. Hotel was super clean, staff was very friendly. My only issues is that there are only blinds and no curtains in the room, which makes sleeping in difficult. Also, there does not appear to be any/enough hot water flowing to the sink, which makes shaving less than pleasant.

Overall ok hotel but not for the price. Ordering room service was a disaster. They forgot things ordered and took another 20 mins to get something as simple as drinks. Food ok but not for the prove again. $15 order cost over $40 after taxes delivery charge and tip. No fan in the bathroom. Tv didn't work. Stay was enjoyable, thought tv was not working, but turns out it was only the first 3 channels, apparently it's like that throughout the entire hotel according to the maintenance guys. They were prompt at getting up to the room and checking it out though very nice guys. Elevators were small and seemed old, but still classy. We've stayed at this Hotel a few times now and have had no problems with anything. This last time the rooms we were in were very small, smaller than the previous two times. They are pretty nice rooms, but very small. This trip, our rooms were suppose to be a little bigger rooms than normal, but it was actually smaller, not sure why, and we weren't in […] the room much, so I didn't question it. If those rooms weren't the smallest, I would hate to see their smallest rooms. Overall, very nice place and very personal people at the counter. Loved how close it was to the Power and Light, but also that it wasnt too close to be bothered with the crowd. The 18th floor was great! The size of the room was perfect. Next time we need an over night in Kansas City, this is where we will stay.

Definitely a nice hotel. But if you are a lite sleeper, you may want to try a different place. The walls are paper thin and I stayed next to some very noisy girls. Didn't get much sleep.

The staff at this hotel was excellent. There was a noisy bachelor party going on in a room near ours when we checked in, and when I requested a quieter floor they responded and provided a different room with no problems. The front desk staff and valet parking staff are very friendly and helpful. The valet parking staff provided excellent driving directions […] to avoid the highway detours present at the time. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. This is a pet-friendly hotel, and we could hear a dog barking in the morning, so request a room on a floor with no pets if that would bother you.You are one block away from the Power and Light District, so if you want to party, this is your place. We arrived early and hoped to check in early, which the front desk staff accommodate and made possible with great professionalism. The check-in staff who helped us offered maps, restaurant coupons, and other recommendations without us even having to ask, which was very helpful. The hotel has jazz on Friday and Saturday nights in the restaurant/bar, […] which was great (and the check-in staff gave us a 10% coupon off our drinks). The room was clean, but we would have liked a trash can in the bathroom and some more towels. It was a bit dark in there, but everything was fully functional. It would have also been more helpful to have another luggage rack (only one on a two-bed room), but it wasn't a big deal. However, warning should be paid to the fact that the walls are paper thin. We found that out when we could hear our neighbors talking loudly with their friends on a Saturday morning before 9am. Overall, our stay was pleasant. We opted to pay the $18 for valet parking since it offered in-and-out privileges and all the valet staff were very friendly and patient. There's a parking just around the corner with a $14 max/day as a cheaper alternative. Läs mer

Staff was super friendly. When we pulled up to hotel the valet was backed up then I noticed the manager just getting to work. He came out and helped the valet get back caught up and even suggested a few places to go that we were debating. The hotel was older but nicely updated.

The hotel has a wonderful art deco-inspired lobby and the aura of a boutique hotel. The room was tidy and clean with modern, but jazz-age influenced, furniture. Bed was very comfortable. Maybe our expectations were too high based on prior reviews, but we were unimpressed with this hotel. It's located in a great neighborhood, close to the Power & Light District, but parking was a nightmare. We opted for valet and ended up waiting in line for our vehicle every morning. There are no extras here...no pool, no breakfast, etc., so I'm not […] sure why the regular rate is so high. Thankfully, we got a good deal from Hotels.com. This is the one to get if you can get a discount on it. Gorgeous hotel! Great service, but room was not cleaned between first and second night. Free wine and cheese during certain hours. I will definitely stay here again.

Everyone was VERY friendly and our room was nice and clean! The only complaint is the elevators take forever! Other than that, the location is great! close to power and light for going out at night. Wished they had a pool, though!!

The Hotel Phillips staff was very friendly and helpful! The decor at this hotel makes it an elegant stay that did not feel "stuffy." If you have a problem with tight spaces, however, you may not enjoy the elevator! Other than that, it was an amazing stay and in a great part of town, just walking distance to all the restaurants and night life.

Great friendly hotel. They forgot to clean our room one day, but took care of it as soon as I called and were very apologetic. The food at the restaurant was mediocre, but they had live music and it was a nice place to get a drink at the end of the day. The staff were all friendly and helpful. I would happily stay there again.

It is a crime not to give this hotel five stars. The staff were friendly, helpful, and clearly are motivated to help the guests. The onsite restaurant was really good and a seamless expression of this great hotel. The only problem is that for whatever reason the air conditioning simply wasn't able to keep up with the demands of cooling this hotel when […] the outside temps were in the low to mid 80's. I need it 68 (or below if I can to sleep well) and the best the air conditioning could do was 73. Now, this would have been perfect for my wife if she had been with me, but not for me. The room was great, the bed comfortable, the couch was excellent. Even the HVAC guy Alvis was incredibly professional and tried to do everything he could to fix this problem but to no avail. I love this hotel and love the way I was treated even in "adversity," and I'm sure I'll return. If you want to stay in a beautiful hotel without feeling like you're in a cookie cutter property this beautiful place is awesome. Läs mer

I got a great deal on a room here. Stayed 2 nights, but my room wasn't cleaned for the second night. I'm sure it was accidentally looked over by housekeeping, but I've never stayed at a hotel where the room wasn't cleaned or refreshed for a 2 night stay. Otherwise, outstanding service & the hotel is so charming!
