"Worst Hotel I ever stayed at"
This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. I was alone with two 16 years old and I was a little scared. It was noisy until 2am and then noisy again at 5. I didn't get any sleep. The room was dirty, small and they charged me for a roll-away bed. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
"Econolodge - Carbondale"
Older hotel, which has been recently remodeled, clean, quiet, perfect place for the price.
The only bad thing about the hotel is the small staff. My key card was erased so i had to have it reset. I went down to the front desk and had to wait almost five minutes for someone. But then, what do u want from a small town hotel. Other than that it was a cheap motel in a small town. Got me through the weekend.
"Will never stay here again"
This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was not clean, there were cigarette butts on top of the shower, there were candy pieces all over the top of the TV stand and it looked like it had not been dusted in 10 years. And my husband told me he saw a roach in the bathroom. The rooms need some maintenance, there were tiles in the bathroom […] falling off and cracks in the walls. If you don't have dogs and don't like barking the walls are thin and this is a dog friendly hotel(which didn't bother me). There were cars coming in and out at all hours with load music thumping, which I agree is not the hotels fault entirely. It is close to the University if that is why you are in town, however next time I will spend the xtra $10 to stay somewhere else. Läs mer
"Econolodge in Carbondale, IL"
The hotel looks much better than what you might find inside. My room had been painted, but it was a little messy paint job. There were drips all around. It was clean though and they freshened everything each of the 3 days I stayed. I never saw any bugs, either. It was the first hotel of this type with a wall heater, air conditioner, that I actually […] could leave the appliance on while I slept without it keeping me awake. I appreciated the little microwave and refrigerator that came with the room. It was very handy. I think the hotel was located fairly well, but it is on a one way street, so I learned to cut through some other store parking lots to save time going through lights and around corners. I was disappointed that the indoor pool had been checked by the city and a part was needed so it was unavailable for swimming. The continental breakfast was disappointing as it basically was all carbs. No fresh fruit or yogurt. Only cereal and breads. Staff was exceptionally sweet and courteous. "Did not stay"
We checked in, got stared at by multiple scary looking men, took one look at the room and decided we weren't staying there because the room (along with the common areas) was gross.

"Good location - Hotel in bad need of renovating"
Hotel needs to be renovated. It is very bad condition. Staff was awesome -they helped us with directions and very attentive to our needs. No I would not recommend this hotel due to area surroundings and condition of the hotel/motel.

they advertised an indoor pool. It was "closed" for the winter and wasn't even working. They got our reservation all messed up. We asked for a king non-smoking room because of my wifes' alergies and they messed up twice. The clerk was washing his pregnant girlfriends' car and non paying attention to guests. The listed review of 1 1/2 stars out of 5 is accurate. Friendly staff, but no money is being spent on the maintenance of the rooms...I changed rooms because of the smoke from the previous chain smoking customer was burning my eyes...
The cleaning lady forgot to empty our trash bins when she cleaned our room. The hotel itself had just made it through a rough batch of storms so the staff was working on the building but it didnt effect our stay in any negative ways.

This was the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. There was gum on the headboard and floor. There was mold on the ceiling. A hole in the wall in the bathroom. It smelled of smoke and wet dog. "druggies and drunks"
sorry had a problem from the start not enough towels, no remote for tv, (picture was bad) cigarette ashes on night stand and in bathroom (do not smoke) loud music and people fighting at 2 am and even at 10 am Sat morning people outside with car stereos going, no policys undercontrol or onsite management caring. NO heat the second day so they decided […] to swap out heaters instead of putting us in another room! the maintance people were using abusive language and stunk. definitely a ghetto hole for anybody that likes the late night crap. "Carbondale, IL Econolodge"
Terrible in every facet. I had to move to two different rooms before they gave me a room that wasn't terribly disgusting, and even then, I had to be sure to use the deadbolt because the door latch didn't work. I am not even a picky guy. Made me stand outside for a half hour at a window while they lost my reservation in twenty five degree weather. After […] I moved rooms, I was expecting a call from my wife so I called the front desk and told them that. I was told I would be forwarded the call. My wife tried calling me 5 times and left 3 messages with the front desk and never got through to me. That really helped planning the cross-country trip home in the middle of a nationwide blizzard. Their morning desk clerk was rude calling me "chief and buddy" in a rather condescending manner, the pool they advertise is drained and looks like it hasn't been used in a decade. The only reason this hotel gets a 1 star rating is because there isn't a 0 star option. The toilet seat was DIRTY and the room was freezing cold. Had the heat turned all the way up and the room took 6-7 hours to warm up. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!

"Not worth the money"
Hotel was clean, bathroom was run down, breakfast didn't have much to choose from. Overall I didn't feel the hotel was worth the money spent to stay there.
the toilet stool is not affixed to floor, it bangs and bumps when you sit on it. Three of the TV channls were so snowy we couldn't watch them

This hotel was a bad experience. The plug for the A/C was broken and I had to wiggle it a few times for the A/C to turn on. The bathroom ceiling was caving in. I could see water marks on the ceiling above the bathtub. The faucet handle in the bathtub was loose and could easily be pulled out. The toilet was barely attached to the ground. The TV was not […] compatible with the remote. These are just some of the problems that existed. I would definitely not recommend this hotal to other guests without first checking the room. "BAD CHOICE for Carbonale Area"
This hotel was located in a decent area, but towels were dirty, the bed felt they were from 1952, and the front desk attendent was RUDE. I will never stay at this hotel again and will not recommend it to others. Save some uncomortableness and stay in Marion.

The hotel was very clean and up to date, the staff was extremely generous and very understanding. I woulk recommend this hotel and I would definetely go back and stay there.

"Disappointed"
I reserved a King room non-smoking, but upon entering the room was faced with a damp acrid aroma of cigarette smoke. I requested a room change and the second room was smoke free, but showed signs of water damage on the ceiling and walls. On the upside. The bed was comfortable and I slept well.
