Fresha rum Trevlig personal Skaplig frukost ingick Underbart mathak eller matkaffe intill öppet 24 tim med underbart krubb. Bra pris och återvänder dit själv när jag är i Austin nästa gång !!

The neighboorhood wasn't the best, didn't have a lot of places to eat or shop. But not that far away from downtown with either car or bus. I would recommend this place to a friend if they wanted a nice and clean hotel on the cheap.

"Average budget hotel close to city center"

This hotel is average but has good value for the location. Other hotel on walking distance from center are more expensive. The staff working are friendly and the rooms are big with fairly good beds, big kitchen area, really big refrigerator. It is very easy to get to the hotel with the car. First night I got a room with an air condition with high noise vibration sound. The hotel was full so there was no possibility to change room. Not a big disaster - I could sleep OK and next day I got a new room. The hotel started to work on fixing the AC directly so I believe this was just bad luck. The new room was silent and good but there was ants in the bathroom and also some other big insect when I got home at night. Nothing in the room itself though. Last night and I did not want to mess and change room again. No problem from this. The hotel is just on the other side of the bridge from city center. The "bat bridge" is less than 5 minutes walking away. Easy to have a look at 10 thousands of bats flying out in the evening and then go out. If you like the music scene it is 20-30 minutes to walk (or 5 minutes with cab for ~$5) across the bridge up to 6th street and surrounding areas with lots of music bars. I would consider this hotel again if I couldn't find a really good deal with the hotels on the other side of the river. I would however try to get a room not on the bottom floor and maybe pay a few extra dollar to get away from the cheapest rooms.

"Beautiful historic hotel"
I've stayed in a number of historic hotels but The Driskill ranks at the top. It's a beautiful hotel that is well maintained. We stayed in the historic section in a suite and it was just wonderful. Typically, old hotels like this are a sight to see in the lobby and bar but then the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Not here thank goodness. The rooms […] were very nice and while the bathroom was small, it was very nice and I loved the shower. The service was impeccable and when we had a funny mix up with our room, the hotel staff was very gracious and paid for our cocktails while the matter was straightened out. Nice public areas, but private rooms and hallways need updating. Plumbing was so terribly noisy that whole pipes shook minutes after flushing the toilet. You could also hear your neighbors flushing as well as their morning wake up calls. Not so cool when you are there for vacation. "Horrible staff, great hotel!"
I brought my mother here for her birthday. After paying over $400 for the room and $600 for dinner at the driskill (the four course meal) which was completely non edible, we wet to bed. After midnight three men from security came banging in our room door screaming "open up security!!!", my mother opened the door. They went into the bathroom for five […] minutes, came out and looked around our room and said "your fire alarm was turned off, sometimes this happens and we fixed it." Who does that to someone after midnight? Scared my mother half to death and I think their excuse was a big fat lie! I've stayed here many times before but never have I felt unsafe like this. This was an extremely beautiful hotel with friendly staff and service. It is in a convenient bar/restaurant/site-seeing area as long as you don't mind all of the bums wondering the streets asking for change (typical of anywhere in that part of Austin). While we work diligently to eliminate street noise in our guestrooms, the sights and sounds of Downtown are often difficult to avoid once you step outside our doors. We certainly apologize if you were unhappy about our valet charges, however, these are fairly standard for Downtown hotels as parking is limited. We hope to have an opportunity to host you again!

"Great Hotel Bad Surroundings"
I am from Dallas and I am accustomed to the every now and then homeless person. But as soon as I walk down the street to congress street, I am begged for a hand out. The area is noisy from all of the ambulances and fire trucks racing down 6th street or congress street. I honestly counted 8 ambulances while my time there at the hotel and that was for […] one night! I must have counted over 20 homeless while to and from Manuel's restraraunt. I wasn't worried but just being bothered every 30 ft for money gets annoying. The bars were great except for the JACKALOPE. My wife got food poisoning from eating their chili cheese fries. The Driskill is a favorite spot of mine - rich in service and tradition. This was my first time in a Curio room and it was smaller than I expected. Traveling alone, I found the room to be fine - although it could get a little crowded with 2 people in the room.Verifierad gästrecension

Such an elegant, historic hotel! The bar with nightly entertainment, a delightful, delicious afternoon tea in the lobby, a wonderful place to have breakfast in the hotel, close to the State Capital, O. "Great hotel bar & happy hour!"
I was in the smallest room but it was laid out well and didn't feel clausterphobic. Granted, I'm a NYer so I'm used to small spaces. The hotel bar was supersweet; great happy hour, friendly staff and excellent food. Why stay at a chain when you can stay here? A+ hotel!Verifierad gästrecension
