We were on a road trip with our dog and this was by far the best hotel that we stayed at along the way. The room was a little dated, but comfortable. We were also a little far from town, so it took a bit more effort to find dinner. it is in need of some updating, but very adequate for my needs. The train runs right by the hotel which was very cool. Lots of room for kids to play and get worn out, which is a real plus. I really enjoyed my stay.

I was expecting a run down, shabby two star motel, in a questionable area, but this place is pretty awesome. Could almost be a three star. Almost. There's plenty of room, every unit has an upstairs loft area that really gives it a good space. There's a fireplace too, but no tools or firewood, bring your own I guess. But anyway, it's in a great place, […] so scenic, and set back from the highway. There's a railroad track, but only one tourist train uses it, up in the morning, & back in the afternoon, so don't think it's like amtrack back there. Iron horse has so much charm and personality, it's way better than a generic brand chain. But it's just a motel, so if you want a hotel stay, spend more and keep looking. :) Läs mer

The housekeeping was perfect. Size was a whole lot smaller than expected from the pictures on line. But we only slept there so it was good enough. The size of the refrigerator and microwave were too small. Had to keep cooler in the room, The ice maker in the game room was way too small for a hotel this size. Free WiFi if you can find it!!!!!!! To use […] the ipad or ipod, you had to sit in the lobby of the hotel. The lobby hosts were extremely helpful and nice. Thank you. The pool was clean and well kept. This Place Is not a good place to stay,it is out of town, the rooms are not worth it. I am telling people this because they should know about this.the rooms are used and I mean used!!!!The breakfast is usual likeany continetal breakfast is. We where out of options so I booked there and where very disappointed. Very old refers and micros holes in the […] carpet and it is hot upstairs and they tell you not to turn it down low due to the a/c freezing up! Mold in the ceiling due to water leaks from the upper bath leaking water in the bathtub,enough water leaked to fill the bathtub at least 2x. Dirty sheets on bed on arrival, did get moved to bigger room and adjustment on that night. Beds were comfortable and it was very quite, however only one wash cloth was provided for two people and no bath mat on 2nd night. Just the little things can make a big difference! Don't think I would stay again.

Other than the grin that goes by at 6:30, this was a pretty quiet place to stay. The breakfast offered was meager, two kinds of cereal or a bagel. Milk. Coffee or juice. Laundry and Ice are located in the ideo game room that gets locked at 10. Pool was clean, several BBQ grills available and a large waled tent set up in early evenings with tables to […] go with your BBQ. Laundry was two to wash and two to dry. It was clean. Paid extra for view of river and it was nonexistent. There was not an iron, ironing board, or hair dryer. These have become pretty standard at most hotels. The worst part was the ac. One bed was upstairs and no air. They did not even provide a fan. It was very hot. Second night I had to go buy a fan to sleep.

The Iron Horse Inn is an older hotel with tons of potential but needs alot of updating. We stayed in a bi-level suite that was suppose to have three queen beds upstairs. There was 3 beds, but they were more like the size of a super twin than queens. The air conditioner barely blew in the loft upstairs--making it difficult to sleep in the heat. The windows […] upstairs don't have the tradtional black out curtains and the sun comes in nice and bright fairly early. The pull out sofa was pretty worn and our girls complained of the bars poking them in the back--but they perfered that over the heat up stairs. We booked the Iron Horse at the last minute (around 6pm) on father's day weekend. The Iron Horse is located about a mile north of Durango with great views of the Animas Valley and next to the Silverton Durango narrow gauge railroad tracks; the train does not run at night, so the track side rooms are quieter. We had a suite with an upstairs queen bed […] and a downstairs queen bed, a standard bath, and a fireplace (which should be nice in winter). The WIFI signal was not strong enough to reach our room ground floor. The room did not have a hair dryer or coffee maker, but there was coffee in the breakfast room. The breakfast was cereal, bagels, milk, coffee, juice, muffins. No fruit, no yogurt. The Iron Horse has a nice pool, and the trolley to town runs regularly. The nearest restaurant is a pizza and beer place across the highway (550). We were pleased with our stay. We did expect anything fancy and were not disappointed. Läs mer

This place in my opinion needs professional desk managers, rather than what appeared to be uncaring college kids. The desk manager was not very accommodating. When I checked in, he tossed me a key and told me in what room we were staying. He did not have a map of the hotel to show me where my room was. As it turned out the room he told me I was in, […] was someone else’s. Therefore, I had to go back to the office to get the error corrected. He did not mention where the complimentary continental breakfast was, or the Wi-Fi code. By the way, we could only get their Wi-Fi to work outside our room. I also talked to the night desk manager, and she had no idea what time the office opened in the morning. The room was all right. However if you want early morning coffee prior to the breakfast room opening (6:30 AM), you need your own coffee pot. The room we were in had no coffee pot. In all fairness, I think this place could earn a higher rating if they put on the appearance of being more caring about their guest comfort. Läs mer

This was only slightly better than sleeping in the car. The room was dirty, the sink had backed up and left a disgusting residue, paint was peeling off the walls, the bathroom vent did not work and screeched like a sick cat. Even better, it looked like someone had set up residence two doors down from us, complete with trash cans, bicycles, and a pet […] cat tied in front of the door. Despite less than glowing reviews and reservations from local reletive, I found my stay to be quite WONDERFUL. the Mountain view and the Quiet of the countryside and the narrow guage RR at my door, all made for a memorable Stay- I will definitely return to this property again. Even tho' the bi -level concept was not neessary for me, I loved the idea […] and used it "just because it was there! Only one attendant was unfriendly and seemed to be bothered by my questions which ( threatened ) to interrupt her from her use of her cell phone or some handlheld device- this was Friday a.m.. If you're loolking for a quiet place w/ simple extras- trolly to town,continental b/f and nice pool and no in -town traffic noise, I highly reccommend it. Läs mer

We had two couple in our group an this was a perfect room for us. We enjoyed the Bi-level Suite. The price was ok for the quality. I liked it because it was out of town and a lot more enjoyable.

Overall the hotel was about what I expected, given the price, but one item that was a big problem for me was the mattresses. They were in my opinion very poor. Not supportive at all and I could feel the springs in them. I am used to a firm bed and this was just not very comfortable for me. We tried both beds in the room and neither one was very good. […] Sleeping in that bed the night before a 50 mile bike ride uphill did not help either. The First room we were rented had a large water damage spot over the bed that was flaking off onto the bed. The next room they gave us had a double bed on the main floor and the queen on the second flour and the bathroom was on the main flour only. The final room they changed us to was overpriced for what we got. The toilet seat was wood and was worn […] down to the actual wood. The toilet paperholder was lose and coming apart. The Iron Horse Inn was a very spacious quiet motel for the price. The bilevel suites allow for privacy. The furniture and carpet in the motel is dated and worn, but it was clean and comfortable.

Beautiful location north of downtown area. Rooms have a lot of space, with loft sleeping area, ideal for families. Nice breakfast service. Only complaint was noise of room air conditioner unit. Need a car to enjoy as town is about a mile or two south.

We enjoyed our stay. There were some teenagers right across from us that were loud and stayed our late. Could"nt sleep until they quieted down, but we well probably be back. Have stayed there before, wil again.

I would recommend calling the hotel directly, since we found out upon arrival that the pool was unavailable. We were traveling with our grandson and the main reason for booking this motel was the indoor pool for him to blow off some energy after a 9 hour car trip. On a positive note, there is a free trolley ride from the hotel to downtown Durango.

Eravamo molto preoccupati viste le numerose recensioni negative circa la pulizia di questo hotel e invece siamo rimasti pienamente soddisfatti; l'hotel è lontano dal centro di Durango ma è comunque ottimamente servito dalla navetta Durango Trasfer che rimane attiva fino alle 10 la sera. E' un po' caro ma comunque nella media della cittadina, la camera […] è in realtà un appartamentino su due piani con due camere ben distinte sotto e sopra (ottimo per 2 coppie quindi!) e ha anche un locale colazione (non male) e lavanderia dove però l'asciugatrice non funzionava. Un po' svogliato il ragazzo alla reception ma comunque gentile. Piscina piccola che non abbiamo usato. Läs mer
