I had read the reviews beforehand and was prepared for disaster...However our stay was better than expected, no problems at all once we found the place (the fact that it was hard to find was unexpected, however we stumbled upon a friendly driver of the frequent shuttles in the area who kindly run us up to the hotel, which is situated in an area next […] to the highway, with no street signs in sight...). The hotel itself appeared to be a bit "eighties" but overall it offered everything we needed, and a bit more. Very friendly staff, a small restaurant and even a gym. The room itself was spacious and had a microwave, a fridge and everything else you´d expect. The only thing I´d change was the curtains. They didn´t cover the window so in order to black out (many guests must be needing to adjust sleep and so being able to shut out daylight is important) we used the bedspread...I´m very happy with our stay and would stay again but the hotel needs to be much easier to find (that or the shuttles). Hotellet ligger nära flygplatsen Newark, man störs en del av detta. Rummen och städningen var bra. Det tar 1-1,5h till Manhattan. Shuttle till flygplatsen går varje halvtimme. Ok hotell men inte mer.

Funkade jättebra för oss som bara skulle sova en natt mellan våra flyg. Gratis shuttle funkade bra så inget att klaga på! Restaurangen på hotellet va helt okej. Skönt att slippa ta sig iväg att äta när man kommer sent och ska iväg tidigt så ett plus att det fanns!

Visst har vi bott på bättre hotel, men i bland vill man bara sova några timmar i väntan på flyget och då får det inte kosta hur mycket som helst... Här får du ett billgit hotel som går att bo i, men inte mer...

Detta var ett bra hotell som låg 30 minuter från Manhattan. Fyllde mitt behov, men saknade fri parkering. Ska man jämföra med ett parkeringshus på Manhattan som kostade femti på en heldag så var det kanske billigt. Vi gillade detta hotell trots det.

Just an overnigth stop on my way from airport to car rental. Airport shuttle - kind of funny - on f the smallest buses, packed with people everywhere. Ska du bo på Howard Johnson ska du göra det in enbart ett och endast ett syfte. Och det är om du bara ska bo där en enda natt. Exempelvis om du ska flyga vidare dagen efter till. Hotellet är nedgånget, varmvattnet fungerade inte i duschen, toalettens spolfunktion fungerade knappt, fjärrkontrollen till TVn fungerade inte heller. The hotel was clean but it looked nothing like the pictures on line the TV was outdated and we had to pay 15 a night jus to park each night. They was good on cleaning and getting us what we needed but I won't go back there.

Nothing special here but it also fit the bill of being reasonably priced and with a free shuttle to the airport. The only notable downside was that the shuttle driver in the morning was "stupid" in the words of the front desk clerk (not very professional) for leaving before his appointed time. The hotel was nice but in the middle of nowhere. If you don't want to eat at the restaurant, make sure to bring food with you as there is nothing nearby. Convenient for an overnight stop

we did not expect parking to be extra ($15) or they WILL tow. We also had no water, but it might not have been their fault. In any case, we will not be coming back.

The room was ok but some things didn't work like the tv remote and toilet wouldn't flush without holding handle. Also, room was a little small but expected size. Hallway floors were dirty and smelt like sweet air freshner which probably covering musty floors. Service was pretty good. Asked for late checkout and was given even though checked out on time. […] Good roadside stop to stay for a quick trip or with buddies. I had wife and teenage son so not bad but wouldn't go for a nice weekend. We had a family event we had to go and spend a couple days cheap so it fit the bill. Paying for parking sucked and was just a chrage to boost their profit, had plenty of room and didn't need to charge. We were very happy with our stay in Howard Johnson. The manager gave us a free upgrade to a suite and we were very happy with the room's space, cleanliness, etc. Would definitely make a reservation here if I am ever in the area again.

This was my second time at this HoJos. Staff were friendly. Hotel is aged and worn, but clean. Only 5-10 minutes from Newark airport by the shuttle which runs 24 hrs every 30 minutes. Food limited to one small basic restaurant in the foyer - nothing in the surrounding neighborhood. Generally, OK for a stop over at the airport. Reasonable price, considering […] airport location. It was satisfactory and a good value for the money. The only problem I had was with the interior design of the curtains. There was a flood light shining into my window all night and there was no heavy curtain to pull over the window to block out the light.

The night manager that checked me in around 0130 was cold and unfriendly and didn't even address me. When I exited my room in the morning, the supervisor housekeeper looked right at me, ignored me, and shouted loudly to the subordinate housekeeper, two doors down, in spanish language, my roof number. It was obvious to the subordinate that I was exiting […] my room and its location, and therefore the supervisor appeared to be intentionally rude and obnoxiously loud about it. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is not a neighborhood but mostly the EWR airport and industrial properties. It certainly does't appear dangerous to me. Complimentary shuttle was an unexpected major bonus as it departed the hotel every 30 minutes on the hour. WiFi reception in my room was quite weak and when connected, slow. I had to stand in the hallway outside my room for most of my internet usage. The hotel is near highways, finding the location is hard for someone out of town and at night. The room shows wear and teardue to years of ues. But every item is functioning. It gave me free parking for the nights I stayed there. The parking lot has attendant almost everytime I drove in and out.

The low price was made up in extra charges for parking ($15) and breakfast($20) plus tip for eggs coffee and toast. It took 45 minutes for the shuttle to get to the airport. Next time, I'll stay somewhere else for the $55. extra. The room was beautifully furnished and clean.

Room was not at all what was advertised. When I first arrived I notice bed sheets didn't look fully clean had to call room service to bring all new sheets. After the first night it wasn't so bad especially for the price of the room($67.00)per night. Personnel were friendly and accommodating, but the neighborhood is a disaster. The Hotel now sits in the middle of an independent long term parking facility serving Newark Airport that must own all the property surrounding the hotel. As a result, guests PAY $15 per day to park in the hotel's lot. The hotel building also shows its age with a sagging […] roof over the entry, lowered ceilings, chipped paint, worn furniture in the rooms, and drains in sink and tub that empty slowly. although the neighborhood is industrial, the room was ok...tv needs upgrade, and nightly parking fee is ridiculous...food was surprisingly good given the look of the building, tho pricey. overall, not terrible.

We flew in about 11pm and needed an inexpensive place to stay before going into manhattan. For airport hotel, this was a great stay. No frills but very clean and quiet. I Love the new ban service into manhattan. Thanks!!!
