Hotell Days Hotel Thunderbird - Sunny Isles Beach

Anlände den 11 oktober 2011 och fick rum 415. Tyckte att rummet var sjukt kallt, 16 grader på sin höjd. Försökte ändra AC:n men det gick inte. Efter några dagar kom ett regnoväder och då insåg jag att det inte var AC:n det var fel på. Det regnade in, vatten fulla heltäckningsmattan och det drog från fönsterna. Men tack vare den fantastiska personalen […] fick jag byta rum som var utan anmärkningar. Långt till downtown, nära till Aventura Mall och nära till sunny isles beach. Rekommenderar hotellet till alla faktiskt om du är beredd på att åka buss 40 min "in till stan". Lionel som arrangerade resor genom hotellet är bäst med hela vistelsen. Läs mer

Läckte gas ifrån spisen då vi checkade in + att safety boxen inte fungerade. dom fixade båda sakerna till slut.

Great location, nice pool and beach, but pool staff not friendly. Must return towels at 5pm, kinda cuts short the fun, so bring your own beach towels.

Checked in-There were no towels in room-Had to call front desk to have maintenence come to room and turn the air conditioning on(In the ceiling-hidden) beds were not comfortable-Hotel is dated.

I LOVE THE LOCATION, STAFF WAS GREAT, HOTEL CLEAN, REMIDS ME OF AN OLDEN DAY HOTEL FROM THE 1940S , LOVE THE PLACE, GREAT BAR AND RESTURANT , WILL BE BACK ON MY NEXT VAGATION , IT WAS A 10 AMOUNGST THE HUGE NEW HOTEL THAT SURROUND IT. QUAINT

Great location in Sunny Isles where I was visiting family. Can not beat the location...in the back of the hotel is a nice pool with beautiful pavers and landscaping. Plus you have the convenience of the beach right in the backyard! Chairs, umbrella and tikis are available, in addition to a cool drink from one of 2 bars. Not too noisy or rowdy. Hotel […] staff is very friendly. Rooms are basic - nothing fancy - could be upgraded in the future. Was promised an Ocean View room, which was "somewhat far fetched" (had to be on tippy toes to see ocean)..one of our disappointments through the booking process. Remember you get what you pay for. The hotel isn't bad, although it is old and needs better upkeep simple changes would make for a much better experience. The beds are very uncomfortable hard, the staff was a bit rude, a simple smile and good morning or how are you would go a long way to making a person's stay more pleasant, but not one staff member […] that we came in contact with had that type of courtesy. Also we were checking out on a Saturday and went to sit by the pool for a little while by the pool, we were very rudely asked to get off of the lounge chairs that we were at because they were reserved we got up and stayed in the area for about an extra hour and yet no one was around to occupy the chairs that we were removed from. Better customer service would help this place out. for now if you have a few extra bucks I would recommend stay someplace a little better. Oh and for those that say this hotel has beautiful sunrises, you can get the same view along the whole eastern coast of the United States.!!!! Läs mer

The front desk+bellboy+valetparking people workt to hard and every day and more then one shift . But nobody smill to you, no body are friendly , no body speak more than 5-word to you . They just say NO to you answeare . The hotel is old , the room is small , the AC do not work , the bathroom is ugly , they supposed to clean you room and it dos not happen […] . I read some negative revieuw about this hotel before , but still wen there and will never recomment it to nobody . We stay in an nice hotel in Orlando for an week . Sunny Isles is nice to stay closed to the beach , but still relax . I be many times in Miami but this whas the worst hotel i have bin to . Specially because we come from the Caribbean and we know the importans to keep the tourist happy and conforbel. Days hotel Thunderbird managment sorry but jou faill and you score very bad with me and my family . I had to find other lodgings because my apartment building was being treated for insects. Basically picked this hotel on a lark because it was on the beach. All I can say is that I had a very restful two nights here. Very comfortable room and the balcony is great. Especially at night where you can get some solitude and enjoy somewhat of a good view. […] Didn't eat at the restaurant but with all the eateries nearby on foot or by taking the bus one can't go wrong in any way. The bed wasn't the greatest but it's more than passable. I'll definitely stay here again and it won't be due to home maintenance! Läs mer

We were looking for a place on the beach that would not break the bank. This seemed to fit the bill. I noted the problems on past reviews and decided to take a chance. The lobby was absolutely amazing and we hoped a good omen, but it was not to be. As others have noted the hotel is old and badly in need of repair. The tub had been badly painted over […] and the floor tiles were cracked. Water pressure left a lot to be desired. The balcony had a few cheap plastic chairs and it's paint was peeling. We had a partial ocean view if you leaned out over the rail. The pool was ok but the spa was broken and had yellow tape wrapped around it. The worst part of the stay was the noise. The walls were so thin that we could hear conversations from two rooms down. The couple next door were loud rude and obnoxious until finally at 2am management came to the door. There seemed to be a lot of furniture moving around both above us and next door, we heard every thump, bump, and bang. We got no sleep at all that night. We did not eat at the restaurant or drink at the bar, so I can't comment on those. Beach access was good and the beach seemed very nice. Location is excellent, right down the block from Aventura Mall with plenty of food and shopping nearby. Self parking is across Collins Ave an extremely busy road. For the extra two dollars we valet parked. In all if you want an affordable place right on the beach and don't mind old, run down and moderately clean (not to mention the need for ear plugs) then the Thunderbird fits the bill. We will not be returning and will spend a few extra dollars to ensure a good nights sleep.We cannot recommend this hotel. Läs mer

Conditions of the room was disaster

Yes, the location was great...but that was the only positive! I asked for a non smoking room,but the entire hallway smelled of smoke. I swear I woke up in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke,so I guess their vent system must not work well. Or maybe I woke up in the middle of the night because the bed was so ridiculously uncomfortable and squeaked […] everytime I moved. The bathroom was not clean at all. I wore flip flops in the shower. the tub was disgusting. My room was on the 1st floor, so my view of the beach consisted of half beach and half parking lot,to which the valet parking crew parked a car right smack in front of my window.Parking by the way is at a minimum, if you don't use the valet, you must park across the street. I didn't attempt the restaurant so I have no comment on the food.We were in town for a few baseball games,and the hotel was about 15min from the ballpark.also just about 20-25 min to south beach,straight down A1A. While the hotel shows its age, it's a great place to stay for the money. Staff was polite and helpful. Walls are a bit thin so we heard our neighbors party until one in the morning but a call to the front desk put an end to that. Being right on the beach was the best part of our stay.

Excellent location and nice beach but the hotel rooms and bathrooms are very old and in need of an update . The smell of fry food in the hallways fills your room because some of the rooms next to yours have stoves but the air extractor doesn't work. the restaurant food is sucks but you can go across the street and find many restaurants the bus runs […] every 29 minutes in front of the hotel Läs mer

Very good location. Close to all the shopping and entertainment. Everybody is very nice. Towels were clean every day and bed made. However, GYM could more equipped and operational.

This hotel is so retro Miami Beach. We visited during the high season for Canadian snowbirds and absolutely loved the atmosphere with them. The bar staff (both inside and pool) were friendly and gave some good suggestions for dinner and nightlife. It was the pool staff and snow bunnies that made this the best time ever! And the pool side bar. These folks really know how to have fun!

the only problem from this hotel was the,dis repectful manager, michael, i was charged extra for a kitchenette that was already in my room! he told me that what it is! $10.00 extra per night! i was there 10 nights! he did not want to hear any more complaints, as the manager thought, they were fair, on the charge! remember the hotel needs repairs! badly,he […] thinks he has a trump hotel. i most likely won't be thetre again, shameful! what a scam! The hotel is located great if you want to go shopping as you have the highway just next to you. Even a Marshalls at walking distance. You have access to the beach (with service there included), and the room was clean and ok. We had a balcony with side view of the sea. For us it was a great hotel for what we paid. I´ll stay there again.

spent 5 nights and will return again and again. older hotel but squeaky clean, great staff and excellent restaurant, Leigh at the front desk is very helpful as i michael in reservations. Pool should be drained and bottom refinished.

At check-in, everything was good. The 1st 2 of 3 days went well. Each day we were given passes for 2 complimentary continental breakfasts. On the 3rd day, we were denied 1 pass saying there was only one registered guest in the room...not 2. We were offered 1 pass but being disappointed in the attitude of the clerk, we turned it down on principle. The […] clerk at check-in said the reservation was for 2 people but on the last day the computer said only 1. The clerk said we would have to take it up with the manager when she came in later. As we were checking out, we spoke with the manager. She only wanted to talk to me as the room was registered in my name. She looked at my friend who was standing behind me who said nothing at this point. He was not smiling and she accused him of being threatening, combative, and hostile and refused to talk to me as long as he was taking this position with her. I assure you my friend was neither...he was simply not smiling as the turn of events did not please him. He was just standing there. He saw what was happening and excused himself before he became angry and walked outside to wait for me. In my opinion, she was the one being threatening, combative, hostile, and very rude! No manager or clerk dealing with a customer should have responded that way. She insulted him. Even if he was angry, she should have said, "I see you are angry about this. How can I help you". She apparently missed that day of "Customer Relations Training". I pointed out that the clerk earlier should have given 2 passes just to be curtious after I explained to him that apparently there has been some glitch in their computer. The manager eventually aggreed to take 5 dollars off of the bill. This was too little...too late. The bottom line is that my friend and myself have been staying at this hotel every year for the past 5 years and now we have no intentions of staying there in the future. located right on the beach front in sunny isles, also for us, positioned well for sun life ( miami dolphins football) stadium, and aventura mall. Right on Collins avenue which takes you straight up to Fort Lauderdale of Downtown Miami via Sobe ( south beach). The hotel needs an update, but if you just want a reasonably priced base, this is it. The hotel was extremely dated, I wasn't expecting it to the the trump (next door) but I was expecting it to be a lot better. The windows where extremely old and dirty, you could barely see the beutirful view. I asked for a kitchenett and it was an additional amount of money, there was no extractor so the fire alarm kept going off. I was surprised at […] the size of the room extremely spacious, I expected the bathroom to be the same. but it was extremely small and old, no counter space. For the most part the hotel staff was nice, and friendly except one bad apple and experience at checkout. The day before checkout I was gone all day and left my car at the valet. I came back to find that they where holding my car keys at the front desk because my credit card had been declined. I had stated at check in that I would pay in cash at checkout and that my card was only as a guarantee. Still, they tried to charge my card. I gave them an old debit check card I knew could not be charged on purpose just in case.... There you go! See why I keep that card! The concierge sugested two wonderful restaurants, we where extremely pleased. House keeping was nice and left us extra towels no problem. Room was always clean and they had a nice detail with my daughter's Lion pillow. They picked it up off the floor and arranged it on the bed. That was cute! Läs mer

The Thunderbird is not fancy or modern. Its very basic and outdated. It could stand to be remodeled, but its not terrible by any means. Our room (303) was small but comfortable. Our bathroom was clean, but it was sometimes lacking in hot water. It looked a lot better than some of the pictures I had seen on here, we had a toilet with a real tank and […] nothing was rusting or falling apart. The sheets were clean and there were four pillows on each bed, which should be plenty for anyone. The balcony was facing towards the next hotel, over a parking area next to the building. You could see the ocean off to the right. The staff was very friendly, we had no problems at check in and the concierge was very helpful. The restaurant is very basic but the breakfast we had was good. The kiddy pool was not open at the time we were there. The jacuzzi and pool looked nice although we didn't have a chance to use them. I DEFINITELY recommend going with the valet parking. It only costs a couple extra dollars (plus tips), but it will be so much easier for you - if you park your own car you have to park it across the street and its a very busy street. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are on a budget. Its in a great location, the ocean here is the same ocean as the one at the big pricey hotels next door. Läs mer

This hotel is perfect for everyone whos looking forward to have a great family beach vacation. Is right next to the beach, has a large pool and a bar. Also has a supermarket across the street and the bus stop to go to the Aventura Mall (that must be seen) is in the same side of the sidewalk.

The hotel is attractive, clean and very well maintained. The pool/spa, restaurant and lounge were quite a perk. The only problem I had was the harrassment I received from security because I was traveling with my service dog. EVERY day I was told to leave because I had my service dog with me.
