Location is close to puerta de sol, and metro station on gran via, staff was helpful in providing directions and information. This hotel is well located - plenty of places to visit as well as shopping. Metro and tourist bus just outside hotel. A fantastic coffee shop in the square. Would return to this Hotel again.

Hotel in a good situation for sites of Madrid but in need of TLC it is currently undergoing up grade work outside but inside is grubby . Staff are very friendly and helpful but Would not use it again.

There was construction at the hotel outside the balcony which we were not aware of when booking. The scaffolding blocked the view and the street traffic was very noisy keeping me awake for most of the night. The elevators were very small where only 1 to 2 people could fit in them and it took awhile to use one when moving luggage in and out of the room. […] We asked the reception desk to call us a call but referred us to the doorman who smelled heavily of alcohol. More of a tourist rather than business hotel, great location near Gran Via. If you have problems with road noise though do not stay here, Madrid is is 24/7 and Gran Via is one of the busiest roads in the city. This hotel is located in the middle of Madrid. I was able to walk to all the main sights. It is easy to get to from the airport - take the Metro to Gran Via and it is two blocks away. The room was nice with your basic ammenities (the shower only has bath gel shampoo combo, so I would recommend that you bring your own shampoo). The hotel is located right off the Grand Via. Close to all the major tourist sites. The front desk personel were very helpful with setting up tours. I would recommend this hotel. The only problem were the very tiny elevators.

We had to cancel our 3-night-stay because of lost properties/ robberies at home. Spoke to hotel to change dates if possible. There was none intention to do anything "just to be friendly", couldnt even give us 1 night later on.

This is a reasonable hotel, good location to Sol, restaurants, shopping and other sites. However, we were very disappointed that we were not advised that the entire building is completely scaffolded for months (in October we were quoted 3 months, but not sure of the dates). This meant that we were not able to open our windows and almost got zero natural […] light - in the end we looked past this, as we spent very little time in the room. Good value. Great location. Can't find a better location in Madrid. (only complaint is the wait for the lifts - although one lift is the smallest I've seen in the world. Worth taking a photo of. Very unusual) Receptionists could have been friendlier but responded quickly when asked so 4/5.

It's close to the Gran Via and all the action. But the hotel it's self has to be rated 2 stars. The bed was so hard and they lost wi-fi for half my stars. Had to go to McDonald's to wait for my friend to contact me. It was the cheapest I could book for my trip, so I guess I got what I paid for.

I have stayed at many hotels in Europe, and this one is a great choice. It was very clean, nice bedroom, and had a great location. The metro stop for Grand Via is right outside and it is a 5 minute walk to Sol. Great neighborhood and felt very safe. I would recommend this hotel.

The price is very good and the location is also an advantage of this Hotel. Elevator are small but price and location are enough to decide for this hotel. Additional, METRO station less than 2 minutes walking distance, 8th floor is newly renovated, and FREE WIFI. This is also important. Great hotel location, only 1 minute away from Metro and other Metro stations easily within walking distance. Location is good provided you don't mind the sound of street traffic, etc. Lots of shopping extremely close. Elevators are very small, but hotel room is a pretty decent size for European standards. Beds are not the most comfortable, but ok. A/C […] in room was appreciated and worked well. Hotel is going under some renovations, but didn't really bother us since we weren't there during daytime anyway. Breakfast was only so-so and overly priced I think, for what was available. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and have been reasonably satisfied. The price and location are good. However, we were given a room on the refurbished 8th floor and were quite unhappy with it. It was in a Japanese style, predominately black in color. This meant that there was little light in the room since the black ate the light, and […] the lights on either side of the bed did not direct the light over the bed. Therefore, it was impossible to read in bed. Furthermore, the beds were very low and hard. The good news is that we asked for a room change after one night in this room and they were able to change us to the more comfortable 5th floor. Although there were some charming aspects to the hotel there were problems as well. First of all it was under renovations. There were two elevators that took forever to come and one was so small only two people could fit with maybe one suitcase. Maybe this should be a 3 star hotel. I had a single room, but this gave new meaning to term single. But then again, I did get it at a special price on hotels.com. The bed really is a single bed and the room-size (minus bathroom) is equivalent to a shoe-box. It had the old tube television (not flat screen) and no coffee/tea station so no kettle, cups […] or tea/coffee/sugar sachets. I wasn't aware that my booking didn't come with breakfast, so that was irritating to find out only upon arrival. Hotel ambience is not this hotel's strong point. What is this hotel's strong point and saving grace is the location. Being on Gran Via feels like being in the centre of Madrid. Everything radiates from there and it has such an unbelievable buzz and character to it, esp in summer that you'd rather want to be out on the street than in the shoe-box room. Many cafes, fast food restaurants and top shopping haunts (Zara, H&M & Mango are directly opposite the hotel) are not more than 50 m away at any given time. Metro Gran Via (as well as metro Callao) are both just 40m from the hotel and Puerta del Sol another 100m so you are always connected. However, for some the noise from the main street at night may be too much (esp sensitive sleepers) but it's great to open the curtains and look down at the bustling street or up at the imposing statue that sits at the top of the building that is opposite the hotel. The hotel was very nice and had a great, great location in Madrid, between Gran Via and Callao (metro station). The service was excellent with well knowledge people and great spirit to serve. Housekeeping people was really good (thanks Raquel) and the Food and Beverage guys nice too. Great hotel

We were very satisfied with this hotel. Location was great, service was good. It was very close to the Metro and all attractions, steps from Gran Via. You will find the most unique elevator in the world.

This hotel is perfectly situtated on a main street in Madrid. There are many restaurants, bars, plazas, shopping areas and tourist stops/museums well within walking distance.

I got a single twin room for very cheap for five nights. Location can't be beat, right near Gran Via Metro stop. Breakfast was free while I was there. It was not fantastic but good enough considering it was free-eggs, breads, meat and cheese. Room was small but adequate. Lovely hotel in an ideal location. Close to 2 Metro Stations, restaurants and less than a 5 minute walk to two major squares (Puerta del Sol and Plaza Major). The rooms were impecably clean, lovely bathroom, but the beds were REALLY firm. A bit too hard for us, so we had a tough time sleeping, but OK if you are used to an firm bed. The hotel was quite […] for being on a main strip and we had no issues sleeping due to noise. The facade of the hotel was under reonovations, but this did not pose any problems for us as far as noise or anything else. The elevators were tiny (honestly the tiniest I have ever seen), but they were quick and efficient. An adequate gym for European standards. We did not select the breakfast option, so I don't know if it was a good value or not, but there were plenty of places outside where you could get breakfast for a couple of euros. The area felt safe, very touristy, and easy access to hop on/hop off bus tour route, shopping, metro and just about anything else. You are truly in the centre of all the action here, but you don't suffer from the noise when you want to sleep. The day front desk staff were unemotional and less than impressed with their jobs, but we had no problems with the service they provided us. The afternoon shift front desk staff were much more helpful & friendly, so we saved our questions for them. I would recommend this place to others / stay here again. Läs mer

I have stayed in many Best Western Hotels all over the world, but was not sure what to expect for one in Madrid. The location is great, very close to a metro stop, and right on Gran Via, a main shopping artery. We only stayed for one night as this was our first pit stop before heading off to Sevilla. We arrived very early in the morning but the hotel […] was able to get us a room right away. Unfortunately they gave us 2 twin beds instead of one double - always a hindrance with a male couple traveling together. We were on a higher floor that had a charming view of Madrid rooftops. (Warning: One of the elevators is wedge-shaped and is so small, 2 people with their luggage will be a tight fit - so be prepared to wait. If you can walk down, just do it!) There is a small Juliet balcony but it's the side of the hotel that had scaffolding so it was pretty useless. Being on Grand Via also had its drawback as there was a protest outside an office building across the hotel - you could hear the bullhorns even with your windows closed. Bonus - there is a Starbucks across the street if you just can't live without your chai latte. Overall just an ok hotel. Would highly recommend this hotel for location- steps away from Metro, affordable shopping & meals and walking distance to many must-see tourist sites. The front desk staff was polite, helpful and spoke English. The common areas as well as my room were very clean. However even by European standards, this is NOT a 4 star hotel. If you are a shopper or plan on seeing shows while in Madrid, this is the hotel for you. It is right on a busy street filled with theaters and great stores. But, as others commented, we were not bothered by noise! It's really strange how quiet the room can be- and our's was looking right down on the main street. The hotel was very well located, right in the middle of all the places we wanted to visit. Rooms were small but well equiped, the only negative was how noisy the room was from outside. We were on the fourth floor overlooking Grand Via, which seemed ideal, but sirens and yelling continued all through the night! The room was very small. The hall way rugs where dirty. Bathrooms need an urgent renovation. Would not stay there again. Only thing good was the staff.

This is a good hotel to stay at near the Grand Via. It was walking distances to a lot of the main sights. I was very skeptical from the previous reviews. About the A/C not working and that it just had bad ratings. Well we stayed in this hotel in the executive room with the free mini bar and we were happy and the A/C work to well, maybe the other guess […] did not know that the thermostat was in Celsius. The mini bar did not have hard liquor in it and only had two beers with cokes, fanta, water, and chips. This was fine for a late snack after exploring Madrid all day or a good way to start the night. The only thing I will say about this hotel is it did not have outlets near the bed so if you waned to use your laptop and you have one that the battery dies quick you may be in trouble. My fiance's computer was one of those, luckily I brought mine and it did not need the charge as much. Oh I also read a review about the Wi Fe not working, I did not have any problems any time with the Wi Fe. The only thing is you may have to type in the user-id and password every time you stop using the internet for long periods of time but you can save the password in you network connection so you don't have to do this all the time. The breakfast was great and head a lot of selections. We did see the small elevators and was able to fit four in the smallest one and six in the bigger one. Some people would rather wait until it was empty to ride it though. It was one of the things to talk about but it did not ruined my stay there, it actually made it fun. There was always a door man and security look really good. We also ate at the SUSHI BAR 19 and was very good but may be a little pricey for some even with the 10% discount. The metro was very close and so were the banks with was good to exchange money. We also took the Airport shuttle they had and this was a great service. I would recommend staying at this hotel and if I do go back to Madrid I would book it at this hotel again. Läs mer

The Best Western Arosa in Madrid is in an excellent location! Right on Gran Via (kind of like 5th Ave in NY). Everything is in walking distance and there are several metro stops in the area. The hotel is directly across the street from H&M and Starbucks! The double-decker bus tour stop is also directly across the street. The ONLY problem is the noise. […] There is very loud traffic noise coming from Gran Via at night from cars, buses and ambulances. If you need silence to sleep, it won't happen here. Hotel Staff: Great! Very friendly and helpful! Room: Clean and very neat! Very typical of hotels abroad. If this is your first trip to Europe, please be aware that their hotel rooms are NOT like the USA. The twin beds are small (yes, twin) and extra firm (i.e. hard) and the bathrooms are tiny. Also, don't expect to see washcloths (face towels) in the bathrooms. You're only going to get hand towels and bath towels. No easy access to the hotel - it resides on a very narrow street and a taxi or shuttle bus parked in front of the hotel blocks the traffic. This requires a rather quick entry/exit from the vehicle, regardless of how much luggage you have. This is even more difficult at night when there isn't anyone at the hotel to help you with your bags. Then you have […] to climb a number of steps to the elevators - again, if you have heavy bags and arrive late in the eve, there isn't any help. The elevators are so tiny, especially one of them, that only a very slim person with a small bag can fit in one and no more than 2 people will be able to squeeze into the other (maybe only 1 if you have a couple of large suitcases). The beds are so small, i don't believe my children had such small beds after they came out of their babyhood. Brilliant location, on Grand Via Don't bother to upgrade: 'Free Minibar' contained 2 bottles of beer, 2 bottkles of water, 2 coke, 2 orangina! each day (no wine/ spirits!!)

-The hotel got the world's smallest elevator in the world. No joke, it's very cute and worth experiencing it. For people who are robust and suffering from claustrophobia, not recommended. Besides, it's mostly congested. -Expect a fixed bottle of body care kit: Gel for hair, body and hands. The hotel lobby needs updated however the rooms were great based on what rooms in Europe look like. the room and bathroom was clean and updated.
