Vill varmt rekommendera detta hotell till de som vill uppleva lite lyx i gammal miljö på sin resa. Fantastisk utsikt över Edinburgh Castle och andra delar av staden.

I found the service in the hotel damn near perfect. Nice people, friendly and helpful. I did not like the look of the hotel. Walking to my room I noticed the carpets are rugged and worn down, the paint is faded, the wallpaper is not only faded, but very old school. Sort of like "The Shining" with Jack Nicholson. Anyways, the breakfast buffet. It was […] gorgeous, beautiful, well cooked. The breakfast alone was worth the stay. We had some problem with noise in the corridor outside our room. We had read that the rooms were soundproofed, but that doesn't add to the door. So the door and possibly the bathroom are the weak links in the soundproofing. Over all, the hotel is nice. It's very close to both parks and shopping, and the castle is about a 20 minute walk away. The buses to and from the airport stops only a five minute walk from the hotel entrance. The pool area was rather small, but functional. A jacuzzi and a regular swimmingpool with a depth of about 4 ft. (120cm). Length of the pool was about 20 yards (or 65 ft, 20 meters). Very nice to relax after a long day of walking but not much for children. Conclusion: This hotel is one that dates back a long time. It is in need of restoration when it comes to common areas, but the rooms are nice and rather modern, although ours was quite small. Nice and helpful hotel staff, lovely breakfast buffet, and the diningroom on the groundfloor is well kept. Pool area serves its purpose, but could be more inviting for families. And last but not least, the soundproofing of the rooms doesn't matter if the doors are made of papier maché. We had a pleasant stay, I will recommend this hotel to others, but perhaps give them a little more info than the Hilton website can offer. Läs mer

Hotellet är stort och man kan behöva gå en stund om man har sitt rum långt ifrån hissen. Mycket bra standard på rummen, särskilt med brittiska mått mätt. Personalen är trevlig och tillmötesgående. Internetuppkopplingen är långsam och dyr.

Otroligt vänlig o hjälpsam pesonal från receptionen till resturangpesonalen.Vi hade 2 rum med utsikt mot slottet, som var fina men små till ytan.Vi trodde att vi hade bokat ett deluxe rum, men det var 2 st. plus rum istället.Annars var allt topen o Caledonian hotell kan vi verkligen rekommendera till andra.Passar både barnfamiljer och äldre. Edinburgh […] var även en väldig positiv överaskning när det gäller fokliv o upplevelser. Vi åker gärna tillbaka till Edinburgh o Caledonian Hotell. Läs mer

Fantastiskt läge nära slottet, shopping och flygbussen. Som vanligt i Storbritannien - lite för hårda sängar och är man inte väldigt goda vänner så känns det nog lite trångt att dela på en dubbelsäng - ett täcke och 140 cm sovyta. Kanontrevligt hotell med trevlig personal och alla bekvämligheter man behöver! Stora fina rum, god mat, nära till det mesta. Rent och fräscht, modernt och vackert. Supernöjd!

Hotellet tar plats i en mycket vacker byggnad men det är en aningen nedgånget och jag skulle inte längre kalla det 5-stjärnigt. Det är rent, mycket bra service och en väldigt god frukost buffé. Rummet vi fick var fräscht och renoverat men hade sina skavanker. Överlag är jag väldigt nöjd med vår vistelse alla anställda har varit väldigt tillmötesgående. […] Dock kan jag tänka mig att om man som besökare förväntar sig ett super lyxigt hotell med 5-stjärnig standard så blir man lite besviken. I'll start with the positive thing and that was the breakfast buffe! It was absolutely the best breakfast I ever had! Also the envioronment and the inside of the hotel was very beautiful and the afternoon tea was great! Unfortunately our bathroom had a very distincted smell from mold. Hilton i Edinburgh har ett perfekt läge och vi fick ett rum med utsikt mot borgen. Hotellet är, till skillnad från många andra Hilton-hotell, ett anrikt gammalt hotell. Mycket bra service och restaurangen hade fantastisk bra mat på kvällen. Frukosten hade allt man kan begära. Ett mellanklas hotell. Stort men slitet och i behov av stor renovering. Känns väldigt mycket 80-tal över hotellet. Första intrycket när man kommer in i lobbyn är ifall man hamnat rätt eftersom detta ska klassas som ett 5-star hotell. Personalen är trevlig men många kan knappt inte prata engelska. Couldn't fault it at all. Will definately stay there again if flying from Glasgow

We were warned that there will be some renovations going on during our stay, but despite that, we found everything to be excellent. We had to check in a lot earlier than normal but our room was ready, and we even got an upgrade! The room was excellent with lots of space and a fantastic view. The service was good. No warning that major refurb of hotel was in progress on communal accesses. Some mess and cables which were a trip hazard.

We all thoroughly enjoy our stay especially as the hotel upgraded all 13 of us to a deluxe room

We enjoyed it very much. Lovely hotel, clean and spacious room. Bit of a mystery tour to find the leisure centre. Food and drink so expensive in hotel that we ate outwith.

major works on hotel going on was not notifyed of extent of works going on. bfast was unbelivably bad poor bacon poor eggs poor sausage lacking in every way possible make better at home with a hangover!!!

Execellent service, room was lovely with a great view of the castle. Staff where very helpful and friendly.

I have stayed in many 5 star hotels, this is so far from 5 stars it's unreal. When we went in the lobby it looked nice, of course, and we were upgraded (great, we thought). After walking for ages to reach our rooms at the fourth floor, we finally reached our "upgraded rooms". Our room was tiny the TV was placed in a corner and nothing was complementary. […] A frigging bottle of mineral water for 4 pounds..There was no pressure in the shower so it took ages to take a shower. The "spa" is a pool, sauna and steam sauna. That was quite nice but since they are renovating you had to walk through catacombs to get there. The hotel needs massive renovating but it wont be enough unless they do a complete renovation. The "business room" was so pathetic. Two computers that were so slow it was mind blowing and they still charged me 5 pounds to use the internet for 30 minutes.. I will never stay at this hotel again. Läs mer

We requested and received a room with a magnificent view of the castle! Room was first rate. Staff excellent. We were even able to check in early. Great value too. We travel a LOT, and this hotel gets our highest possible rating and recommendation.

After reading many terrible reviews about this hotel i was surprised to find that there was nothing to worry about, although the hotel is going through refurbishment this does not effect any of the hotels 5star amnities you would never notice unless you were sleeping in the hall way which you dont. we stayed in the castle veiw room and had the most […] perfect weekend. Breakfast was perfect and catered for both continental and english breakfast. The staff were always there to take care of every need and very friendly. I would certainly return to this hotel. The hotel clearly states that it is under refurbishment and when its finished it will look even better, Thank you for a pleasant stay at your hotel. Läs mer

The Caledonian Hilton Princes street Edinburgh, great staff, great location. My room was upgraded to a suite by the by the friendly professional staff. I had an excellent view of Edinburgh Castle and the breakfast in the morning was first-class. Overall great Hotel

My wife has several quite severe food allergies and it is an absolute nightmare trying to find anywhere to stay that is prepared to accommodate her. The staff at The Hilton however, were absolutely amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, they took tremendous care with the lovely food they prepared, ensuring there was no cross contamination, and that […] the food contained no ingredients my wife is allergic to. The hotel itself was lovely, our room directly over looked the castle, and was spotlessly clean, with all the amenities you could possibly need. This hotel should not be passed by. The service and locality of this beautiful hotel are second to none. Upgraded to castle view room, as per request at the time of booking....and it did not disappoint. Go somewhere else at your pearl. Don't miss La Favorita on Leith Walk either, It is the finest Italian I've ever eaten in - and I've tried a few! […] ! Enjoy!!! Läs mer

We stayed here for the Hogmonay celebrations & couldn't have picked a better location, just a minutes walk to the street party. Brilliant views of the castle from the hotel, a minutes walk from Princess Street and short walk to castle, royal mile etc. Room was fab & staff were very friendly & helpful. Definitely recommended :-)

We spent 2 nights at the hotel and were extremely happy with our stay. Our room was upgraded on arrival to a room with a castle view and the location was ideal for getting out and about. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and the girls in the spa were great. The only downside to our stay was the lack of parking which for a 5* hotel is not ideal. […] We had to park a short distance away in a public car park and leave our (brand new) car there for 3 days. Although the hotel validated the ticket with a 25% discount, it still cost us £38 and caused us some concern over the safety of the car. Läs mer

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Caledonian as the last stop of our trip around Scotland, and we finished the trip in style (which was helped by the upgraded room we recevied). The hotel is in a great location with great views out to Edinburgh castle and very convenient for transport to and from Edinburgh airport. The room was great (though the bed […] was a little too soft) and the breakfast and service top class. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh. One thing I noticed (and to be fair they may have processes in place to deal with this) is that given the design of the hotel which leads to very long corridors elderly or disabled guests may want to make sure they ask for a room close to the lift. My stay at this hotel was excellent. Had no complaints and the hotel representatives were very helpful. The breakfast buffet staff were very friendly and helpful and the buffet itself was excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay - we voted the breakfast's the better by far than any other hotel in which we stayed on our trip.

The Caledonian is a large stylish older hotel, well fitted with most modern amenities. It's just a short walk to the Edinburgh Book Festival venue and to many Edinburgh Festival and Fringe venues. It's a longer, but quite enjoyable, walk to the Castle and the Old Town. Shopping is right at hand in Princes and George Sts. My room was in a newer extension […] to the older building. The room was well furnished and had a modern bathroom. All were well maintained and in good condition. The only drawback was that the room was not airconditioned; an open window provided ventilation and fortunately it was quiet at the back of the building. Läs mer

Very convenient location, close to all main attractions. Clean comfortable room. Very pleasant staff, especially the concierge, who always had a smile.

Top Quality hotel with good comfort & service in a superb - central location.

Had a lovely three days at the Caledonian Hilton in Edinburgh. We were lucky enough to be given a room overlooking the castle. The room was clean, comfortable and the air-conditioning worked (previous reviews had commentated on non-functioning air-conditioning!) Being situated at one end of Princes Street the location couldn't have been more convenient. The […] staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a vast buffet spread of pretty much anything you could think of. Omelettes could be cooked to order and there were a number of other breakfast items which could be ordered through the waiting staff. We didn't use the health club so can't comment. We did pop in to Henry J Bean's (attached to the hotel) on the first night as we were looking for a quick bite to eat after arriving late. Henry J Bean's was practically deserted at 10pm on a Thursday evening. It was shabby and lacked atmosphere. That said, the staff were very friendly. They'd finished serving food and we were quite thankful to give the place a miss. We would definitely stay at the Caledonian again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Läs mer

Excellent top star hotel prime location near everything. Only a ten minute stroll to Edinburgh Castle & the Royal Mile. The hotel itself is large and well maintained with very helpful and polite staff. The rooms are large by European standards. We stayed here do to a very large discount on the rooms. disappointed with lack of service to an issue with tv and breakfast service was poor given we had to ask twice for 2 things we had ordered.

The standard room was very basic for that level of hotel but once we had upgraded we were far happier. We did have a problem with the shower which the hotel tried to fix unsuccessfully but this did not affect our stay at the hotel. The location was perfect though and this is why we would recommend it.
