Ett trevligt och välskött hotell med hög mysfaktor. Rent och fräscht, och mycket brittiskt med heltäckningsmattor och badkar! God och varierad frukost, men restaurangen kvällstid är ej att rekommendera - också den hög mysfaktor, men ganska trist och smaklös (och ganska dyr) mat. We only stayed one night, but the staff were so helpful. Breakfast was good, No complaints at all. There's a bar just over the road and a restaurante a stone's throw away. Very centrally situated. I'd go back anytime.

Overall satisfactory with minor drawbacks - thin walls and a lot of noise from corridors (squeaking floors) when people passing your room. The hotel is older and would deserve a bit of refurbishing and some renovations, on the other hand, it has a beautiful classic "old England" atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Great locale, nice breakfast, clean and tidy... but the interior of the hotel peaked in the 70s and it hasn't been renovated since then. It's got a certain old world charm to it, a slight minus for the lift that did not work all week. Also the TV stopped working if one zipped through the stations too quickly :)

As others have said, the location is very good but the hotel room is "tired". The lifts still weren't working; the curtains were torn; not enough plugs for the kettle - we had to put it on the window sill. For our price (and it was reduced through Hotels.com) we had no breakfast, had to pay extra for parking the price was still twice the amount of a […] nice bed and breakfast with the above things included. This used to be a very grand hotel but needs a bit of a revamp. Although it was nice a comfy. The staff were friendly but the breakfast menu was limited

Tired, functional interior that looks like a refurbishment is 20 years overdue. Room lacked any of the sense of charm, character or luxury that you might expect from a hotel in this price range. Only saving grace was the fact that it is perfectly placed to explore an otherwise beautiful and interesting city. Rude staff and extremely poor service

We would recommend the hotel for the friendliness of the staff and the location (so near the town); but the "Cosy Double" was rather a little too cosy! You could only walk sideways around the bed and into the bathroom.

On arrival, the staff were fairly friendly, but not overly so. I found my room, and it was very small, with a feeling that the furniture did not fit in it. The mugs were not clean, nor did I feel the room was very well cleaned before, including a small cockroach in the bathroom. This is an excellent, old fashioned English hotel in the best tradition, of the kind that has almost disappeared today. Its standards of service. food and facilities are very good indeed. It is not cheap, but is certainly excellent value for money. I would recommend it to anyone staying in Cambridge, especially for a short period.

despite it's gorgeous setting, and beautiful exterior building this hotel is nothing more than a travelodge inside and therefore grossly overpriced. Hotel was nice. Was very hot and we had to open window in november! which then made it very noisy. Staff were friendly enough and room was nice - but starting to look very worn... bed was very uncomfortable […] and the pillows were like pancakes so didn't make for very good nights sleep! We also had to pay an extra £5 to park there....On the plus side... it was very conveniently located to main high street tourist area.... would look for somewhere more value for money next time I went. A nice traditional hotel. Ventilation in the guest room was inadequate for the warm weather we encountered. Quite tight quarters for the price.

The Royal Cambridge Hotel is much more rundown in person than it appeared in the photos. It is in desperate need of a remodel - of fixing up the rooms, of changing out the carpet. Everything felt old, worn and dirty. I would not recommend staying here - there are too many other better options in town for a similar price point.

The location is excellent - a short walk from Kings College, the City centre and the Fitzwilliam Museum. The large car park is convenient and at £5 a day for resident's is good value for central Cambridge. Downsides are the dated decor, giving a drab ambience to the hotel. My room would have benefitted from a lace curtain as I felt very much on view […] to the office block opposite. Single room, single bed, as expected, but rather small, nonetheless. The Royal Cambridge Hotel is relatively low priced, but is in good condition offering a great service level. Rooms are spacious and clean, although windows are not of European standard, meaning not well insulated, hence noise from the street can be heard in the room. Stayed here for a night to enable us to explore Cambridge. V good location for it as can easily walk everywhere. Rooms were clean although the decor a little dated. Given Cambridge is an expensive place to stay, it's reasonably priced but nothing outstanding in this hotel at all. from the hotel you are walking distance to the shopping centre. good for sightseeing .john lewis store very clean .very impressed with the toilets one of the best for a long time

For a 3 star hotel this one wasnt bad, I think you pay for the location which was pretty good, walking distance from town. Was a bit disappointing not to have air con in the room though as the hotel is on a busy road and too noisy to have to window open at night. Breakfast in the morning was a little disappointing and had quite a long wait as there is not many kitchen staff. Having read most of the reviews I could find about the Royal Cambridge, I was not expecting the greatest of stays......however, it was a really pleasant surprise to find that either the previous reviews were wrong, or that the management has read them and listened to them...... Checking in was the only weakish moment, as the duty receptionist was not […] terribly friendly, but most of that was because her English was not great. However, we had arrived earlier in the day, dumped the car in the car park and went in to ask if that was all right. "Perfectly! -and just come back and check in any time after 2.00 pm". Anyway, once we'd checked in, it was all very good. Lovely big room - I liked the ducks in the bathroom, and the enormous bottles of toiletries. Breakfast was stunning - a great buffet, and a nice choice for English breakfast, which they got right as well. Yes, the hotel is slightly faded, but not anything like as bad as other people have suggested. Checking out was easy and painless, and they got that all right as well. We were expecting to pay for the car park, but no, that was free - and we asked if we could leave the car there as we were going to spend the day in Cambridge - "Absolutely fine, just come and collect a token when you;re ready to go!" An excellent choice for Camgridge as the hotel is very close to the ,main attractions and has very good parking facilities

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in August, and were very impressed. The location of the hotel was fantastic as it was very central and only a few hundred meters from nice restaurants and bars, yet still quiet. The large free car park was excellent. The hotel could be very nice but is in bad need of redecoration, everything is very tired and not very clean. The central location and the complimentary car park are a significant advantage

Das Hotel war in Ordnugn. Mangelhaft ware der fakt das es nur 1nen Schlüssel für 2 Personen gab. Auch war das Zimmer nicht das welches ich gebucht hatte. (Twin Betts anstelle 1 Twin + 1King) Wobei mir gesagt wurde das der fehler auf Ihrer seite lag. Internet zugang war sehr teuer mangelhafte beschreibung inder buchungs Info. Non è che ci spossa lamentare troppo (a parte il consueto odore di moquette vecchia nelle stanze) ma sicuramente questo albergo, con riferimento alprezzo che viene richiesto, non offre niente di particolare. Una leggera freddezza all'accoglienza completa il quadro. All'arrivo, nonostante il soggiorno fosse stato corrisposto in toto tramite HOTELS.COM, […] mi è stato richiesto una "strisciata" di 150 sterline (30 a notte) a titolo precauzionale: al momento peraltro (dopo soli 4 giorni però) non ho avuto alcun addebito ma, oltre ai documenti, mi è sembrata un'eccessiva mancanza di fiducia. l'albergo non è distante dal centro ma è posizionato abbastanza lontano dalla stazione e non in corrispondenza di una fermata di autobus (serve il taxi). Dejligt og hyggeligt hotel tæt på centrum - men god idé at leje cykel alligevel da man ellers kommer til at gå nogle kilometer i løbet af en dag. Temmelig varmt værelse, men med mulighed for aircon (så ud til at være en blæser der skulle stå og køre, så ikke helt optimalt.)

150 vuotta vanha hotelli. Olisikohan jo aika remontoida....

Hotel pas loin de la gare ni du centre historique de Cambridge. Chambre située au 3ème étage (2 étages en ascenseur puis 1 à pied) mais à l'ouverture de la porte cela valait l'effort fourni pour grimper: très belle chambre très spacieuse et très calme, literie excellente.

Glimrende hotel, dog synes jeg prisen var lidt i overkanten da vi fik et kælderværelse hvor der var rimelig indelukket og vinduerne var svære at åbne. Men meget rent og komfortabelt hotel. Jeg ville ikke tøve med at bruge det igen, dog vil jeg næste gang ikke acceptere et kældeværelse.
