This is a centrally located inexpensive hotel. The rooms are fine although the sound carries from the adjacent rooms.

Stayed at this hotel for a long weekend and it was fine. Staff are helpful, roms are clean. About thirty minute bus ride to barcelonetta beach. Didnt have breakfast so couldn't comment on that. Overall not too bad. Expect to use transport to get around.

Stayed at the Astoria on a very hot few days in Sept. The hotel has wonderful A\C throughout the lobby and in the rooms which really was essential in Barcelona . The room was spotless clean with a good sized bathroom with a good powerful shower. Towels changed daily. I had booked a single room but got a double for same price. Room has a mini bar ,safe […] and LCD tv , though the only English channel is CNN but then I didn’t spend much time watching telly. There is a small rooftop pool and a sun lounge area to chill out in the evening if you wish. It’s about a 7 min. walk to the metro (Diagonal) The breakfast was 11 Euro extra so just used the many little cafes in the area for breakfast. Much cheaper .Front desk staff informative and speak good English. You can book the Tourist bus from the front desk which is really handy as the lines get very long down town. The only small down point is that as the hotel is in the upmarket Eixample area it gets a little quiet (ie dead) in the evenings….There`s restaurants and bars a little walk away on Psg de Garcia and Rambla de Catalunya but not much around the immediate hotel.. All in all a good clean ,quite hotel , just a little off the main city centre action . For the price would def stay again Läs mer

Great hotel! Nice location just a block from the main Diagonal blvd. The hotel is very clean and the management is very attentive and very courteous. We were so pleased with this hotel. We were just a short taxi ride from the cruise ship port - 35 Euros.

This hotel is your standard European hotel. Nice lobby, but boring tight rooms. standard queen size bed, etc. The roof top pool was nice touch though small, with more old buildings than sights as your view. The neighborhood was nice, and safe (if you don't mind a small strip club and a peep show/porn house on the same street) but a little confusing […] the first or second time getting off the metro. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to the metro. Fairly close to some major sights, far from the beach. No problems with the hotel, check in, the staff, etc. Läs mer

The rooms are quite nice but we were unfortunately stuck in an inside room with a view of 4 concrete walls. I asked to be moved but they said they were full. The room itself was quite tiny and unsuitable for 2 people. The pool is very tiny and it gets quite busy during the summer. There wasn't always a chair or table available. I would have no reservations about recommending this hotel if you don't need your hotel to look like one of the big American higher end chains. The lobby was very attractive and had great original art work. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and gracious. The room itself was clean, but the bedspread and curtains looked dusty. The bathroom was modern […] and clean. The floors in the room were tiled with no carpet, so it looked a bit austere. It was in a nice section of town, and there were low key Spanish cafes on the corners in both directions that were reasonably priced with local foods. I would not hesitate to stay there again. Great room, free wifi in lobby, $30.00 cab from airport, $20.00 to cruise port, free coffee in the morning would have been nice. Easy walk to las rambles if you are in reasonable shape. Overall, more than expected.

Very small room, no swimming pool.

When I got to the hotel, they put me on the roof and the a/c never cooled the room off. Then they put me in a nice cool room that was noisy with a jackhammer from 10am to 7 pm. Surrounding neighborhood is nice. Kind of central location, you can easily get to main attractions by bus, but you have to ask. Staff is helpful. downside... We traveled with kids, and like all european hotels, very strict about how many can stay in a room when checking in.

Very nice and comfortable hotel in a convenient location. Rooms were small, but this is typical in Europe. Lots of places to eat within easy walking distance. My major pain was the construction noise. The hotel was doing renovation and the noise during the day was very loud. Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, room was not large but very well designed, and the price was pretty reasonable. Would recommend The Astoria to friends and anyone visiting Barcelona.

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Astoria Hotel in Barcelona. She has a bad knee but was able to walk from the hotel to the Las Ramblas area where we caught hop on-hop off buses around town. The hotel is clean and well kept up. I would have given all a rating of 5 except for one counter clerk who acted surly when my wife asked a question of another […] clerk. First off Barcelona is just an expensive city and also a very touristy city so unfortunately hotels aren't cheap. Based on the price I did expect a little more. For what I can figure we were placed in one of the smaller rooms of the hotel. It was still nice but when we arrived the water wasn't working in the bathroom. It was fixed within the hour when […] we asked about it. Free wi-fi is only available in the lobby and was kinda of spotty. There were many different nationalities as guests at the hotel and the staff does speak enough English to help you out and point you in the right direction. It is in a nice location several blocks from a metro station, some nice restaurants and some shops a block or two away as well. There is a sex shop two buildings down which was a bit odd to me but Europe is a little more liberal with those things and might be a bit more common in a city. There are no vending or ice machines. None of these things are deal breakers to me and have slept in less luxurious hotels...but the price didn't seem to match the quality for me but then again the American dollar is worth a lot less than the Euro. I arrived in Barcelona as a young, solo woman traveller with 2 full days for leisure exploration of the city prior to work conferences that were to be held in the Diagonal Mar region of the city. Thus, this hotel was perfectly located for me to enjoy strolling the northern neighborhoods of L'Eixample and Gracia before switching to my work appointed […] hotel on the opposite side of the city. Diagonal Metro stop was nearby in order to reach other parts of the city quickly, but I most enjoyed shopping on Passeig de Gracia and especially Rambla Catalunya. With gelato in hand from a corner store, I enjoyed the famous architecture of several of Gaudi's buildings as well as beautiful facades and wrought iron balconies of the neighborhoods apartments. The hotel itself is clean, safe, quiet and nicely appointed. I personally enjoyed returning in the afternoon to siesta on the lounge chairs by the small rooftop pool before heading back out in the evening for a cafe or late dinner. My twin room was small, but all that I needed for my short stay. I am not one to spend much time in my room -- a clean, soft bed (yes), a good tub/shower (yes), safety box (yes) is all I really require. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Accomodating staff, nice quiet neighborhood, near Gaudi exhibit. Longish walk to the tourist Rambla, but quite doable. Close to the red and green hop on hop off tourist bus. We enjoyed our stay,

The hotel was not bad overall but it was not close to the Metro station it was a bit of a walk and for the price it seems like it should have been closer to all the attractions Like Gaudi and all the shops and. its not bad at all but its a bit far from all the excitement

Good hotel with good personal. there is food shop at 5 min walking from hotel. it is important, because it's difficult to find something to eat at the restaurants in Barcelona (expecially for muslims).

Hotel was great as was the staff whom were very helpful. Hotel was very well placed with a very short stroll to many bars and and places to eat. The roof terrace was a lovely place to have a drink and relax. I would recommend this hotel to all.

The hotel is in a great location - 15 minute walk to La Rambla and Placa de Catalayuna. The public areas of the hotel are very nice and clean - the rooftop pool is also nice, but the bar didn't open until 7pm and it was a little chilly in April to sit up there with a drink. My wife and stayed at the Astoria in April and had a wonder time. Over all the hotel is excellent, the only thing is the size of the room and selection of TV stations in English, other than that it was well worth the money and a great value.

loved our stay here and the restaurant next door has good paella too. Lovely hotel and service, friendly and helpful.

The Astoria is located in the eixample district of Barcelona. The hotel is a short walk from two metro stops and one of Gaudi's famous apartment blocks. The area is the heart of Barcelona's main shopping district and every street corner forms a square with a wealth of cafes and bars to choose from which makes finding some food and refreshments easy. […] Hotel service was reasonable and the rooms were comfortably furnished. We are a couple in our mid 20s. We stayed in the Astoria for 6 nights in November 2010. We booked a standard double room but on check in were dissatisfied with the room, mainly because of the lack of any kind of view from the room. We raised the matter with reception and after initially being told that we couldnt change room, the Hotel accommodated […] us in one of 3 suites on the 8th floor. What a difference! The suite was over 2 levels and was adjacent to a rooftop garden which had a pool, sun loungers and amazing views of the city. We enjoyed our stay very much but we may not have had we been forced to stay in the room initially assigned to us. The location was nice and quiet and about a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro stop (Diagonal). We enjoy walking around and we were about 20 mins walk from most central locations i.e. La Ramblas. This was a pleasant and quiet location near to the Avenue Diagonal and a short walk to the main areas of the city. Although we went in November, we did go up to the roof terrace which looked a relaxing area with good views of the city. Would like to go back to this hotel in the summer.

A great 3 star hotel beautiful location for seeing uptown Gracia and downtown barri gothic as right on diagonal. Staff were all so helpful. Room as immaculate and lots of space two floors!!! Great hotel, and in the heart of the culture.

the hotel was far from the centre (plaza catalunya). the room was very noisy. i've never experienced something like that- i could hear people next door having a shower as if they were right in the midle of our room. i could smell cigaretes in our room when someone was smoking. the view was a brickwall and we couldnt even tell what the weather was like […] so we could decide what to wear. the swiming pool at the roof does not look like the one from the picture at all!!! it's more like a bath tab. there was a queu at the reception almost all the time. the only good bit about this hotel was the staff which was very helpful! I loved the neighborhood. A short walk to the upper end of La Rambla and the Gaudi houses. I enjoyed a nice pitcher of sangria at the rooftop pool after a long day of site seeing. There are plenty of good restaurants right around the corner. The taxi stand on the corner made finding an early morning cab to the airport easy. Highly recommended!

The hotel is close to the main attractions. The only negative would be, that, for the 5 nights that we stayed there, we were given a much smaller room with absolutely no view. The only window was just in name. But overall this is a good hotel with excellent service.

Very good hotel in upscale neighborhood.The staff is helpful and the breakfast buffet is excellent.

It's about a 7 minute walk to the metro, not bad. Great part of town to see what the real Barcelona is like.

Good location for what I was looking for. Nice bars, restaurants, cafes, etc within walking distance. Pleasant, friendly, helpful staff. Aerobus is available at the airport and it takes you to within about a 10 minute walk of the hotel (or get off the airport bus at University stop and jump into a cab - many are awaiting beside the bus stop. About 5 […] Euros for the bus, and about 6 Euros for the cab. Cabs directly to/from the airport/hotel would be about 30-35 Euros total (no per person charge) so I shared a cab with two other travellers I met upon check-out. A bit far from all the hustle and bustle of all the crowds but if you want a quiet great rooom this is the place

The Hotel was in a great location. The pool on the roof was perfect for an afternoon dip to cool off. The room was clean however, it smelled like smoke and perfume. The pillows were bricks! Overall though we had a nice stay and would recommend to our friends

Decent hotel for the price with clean rooms, well stocked minibar and nice lobby. The pool is very small so ok if you want to cool off but don't expect to be able to do lengths and be prepared to fight for a sun lounger, only 10 available. Nice clean hotel. Beds were a little old and not very comfortable. Other than that as expected.

Good location, about 20mins walk. The restaurant and bar closed quite early though. Very clean & comfortable for the price.
