Overall we had a very pleasant stay at the Best Western. The hotel was as good if not better than others we have recently stayed at. While the location is a good mile from the centre of Ottawa it is vey close to the Museum of Nature and is within walking distance of other attractions and the tour buses provding you don't mind stretching your legs a […] bit. Hotel is very close to the main restaurant street of Elgin - so plenty of choice in the evenings. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and as a mid point in our trip we took advantage of the laundry room facilities - which was spotless. Breakfast had a good choice and range of foods and again the staff kept everything replenished so there was no long wait. Overall a very pleasantly place to stay in the city. Läs mer

had a great time, and the hotel is lovely. It's not "close" to the Hill - but if you don't mind a brisk walk, you'll be fine. Restaurants are all around, but if you've been on your feet for 15 hours, not having room service was a down side. The breakfast they have available is excellent though. Would definitely stay there again/

Stayed on business and enjoyed the hotel. A quality breakfast was included and the property was very clean. Good shower which is one of my usual pet-peeves. Good restaurants and pubs within walking distance on Bank Street.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the natural history museum (3 mins walk) - and walking distance to Elgin Street area for dinner (10 mins). It was just fine for two days of visiting Ottawa for March break. Traveling with young children, we aimed to keep the car parked and the sightseeing, for one day at least. to be the walking kind. The room came with a small kitchenette -with a sink, a cupboard full of dishes and cutlery and fridge and microwave so we could actually have a hot lunch in the hotel room and only dinner in a restaurant, which works better for young kids and pocketbooks anyway. This is a great idea for family needs in hotel rooms - especially for traveling with food preparation for kids - like bottles and formula and heated milk at night - really nice and easy. The breakfast buffet has variety and changes daily - bacon and french toast one day and then eggs and sausage the next, cereal, yogurt, fruit and bagels. toast and muffins. They need more tables after 8am - so you may have to wait if you delay. The only thing we wished for is a pool - which caps off a fun day in the frosty air, but not too many downtown hotels have pools in our price range. We would return - good location and very clean. Rooms were very functional and came complete with kitchen sink, eating utensils fridge and microwave. The bathrooms also appear to have been recently updated. The free WiFi in the rooms was a bonus. The continental breakfast offered more than what is typically provided. I would stay here again.

Great location. Close to lots of restaurants, parliament buildings, good walking distance to most everything. Rooms have a mini kitchen which is very handy, and the room was nicely updated. Staff were very helpful with any questions we had. Would stay again.

Nice clean modern hotel with good service. Comfortable bed and breakfast was provided at no extra cost. More than the typical continental style. I booked through Expedia and got a good price. All in all, a great value.

The rooms are fantastic in this hotel. Service very good too. Same quality as rooms you would find in much more expensive 4 star hotels. And very clean. Convenient to highways, a relatively short walk to downtown. Neighborhood itself not the greatest, not too many restaurants in the immediate area. The room was comfortable and clean. The Front desk was helpful and efficient. The bed was comfortable, the complimentary Globe and Mail was nice and the parking was easy. The wifi was a little slow but not unusual. We would come back.

Our stay was just for one night, but everything was more than satisfactory. Didn't get a chance to use any other amenities, so can't comment on those.The staff were polite and helpful and the room and bathroom was clean. Breakfast which was included was a nice bonus.

The hotel was a 1/2 hour walk to Parliament Hill and Bytown Market. Complimentary breakfast was basic but more than adequate, including eggs, bagels, sausage patties, fruit salad, yoghurt. Underground arking, which was cost extra, was secure and convenient. Room was spacious and clean, with small fridge and microwave. Staff were friendly.

There were little touches that made this hotel superb for me. - I could listen to my iPod and use it to wake me up in the morning on their iPod compatible alarm clock. (I really, really liked this because usually the radio reception stinks on the clock radio). - The radio, by luck or design, was tuned to CBC Radio 2 so I got local news, as well as […] good radio. - Room safe for your valuables. - Power bar that was easily accessible on the desk in the room to plug in my laptop, cell phone, etc. - All of these rooms also have a mini-kitchen that is well stocked with glass (not plastic), microwave, sink, etc. - Gender specific sauna off of the workout area on the top floor. Nice touch. Need to go a little ahead of time to turn it on if you think you're going to use it though as it's not always on (that would be a waste of electricity). It heated up quickly while I was working out and there's a shower a mere two feet away. I walked down to the eternal flame on Parliament Hill and Byward Market. There was lots to see and do in the neighbourhood, a grocery store and liquor store nearby, a YMCA (wish I would have brought my membership card) and public transit is pretty amazing. I saw some comments that people thought it was a sketchy neighbourhood - I didn't think so at all. It's not suburbia and so cleansed of all urban life. We loved the actual hotel for its cleanliness and I have stayed at alot of Best Westerns in Canada and all through the USA, but our room was very very dry and HOT!! We were there in mid November so it was cold outside.The water from the shower was just a dribble and it took a couple of minutes for the hot water to actually turn warm. The last day my […] husband had a cool shower because there was no hot water at all. We went to the front desk to let them know about the hotness of the room and the shower on the 2nd day. When we arrived back there was a notice that said it had been fixed and for a couple of hours it wasn't as hot but every morning we woke up with dry sore throats (we had to turn the heat right off but the baseboard element was still burning hot????) The shower was exactly the same and we only had 1 more night so we figured we could make it through. When we checked out I let them know at the front desk about all the problems and maintenace saying it was fixed and it wasn't and the lady did apoligize. This is a good hotel at a reasonable price in a convenient location within easy walking distance of everything in downtown Ottawa. Our only complaint was that the room was too warm - had to run the air conditioning in November! Warm air came in around the poorly sealed door to the hallway. Breakfast was good - real china and cutlery, not plastic.

We were really pleased with the Best Western. We had booked two rooms and when we checked in, one was up-graded to a suite. The rooms are modern, well-maintained and nicely decorated, more luxury than we expected for the price. In-room flat screen tv's; wi-fi upon request. My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel thoroughly. From the start, the reception staff received us warmly, which was especially nice considering the chilly November evenings. We were then amazed at the ample room area, as well as the amazing condition. Everything was clean and great, without any sign of wear and tear. The breakfast included in the price of our room was a very good add-on to the cost of staying here. The location was excellent to catch Event Bus 401 to go out to Kanata to see shows at Scotiabank Place. Ottawa transit Bus #14 was easy to catch to go up to the Parliament Buildings and Rideau centre. Elgin Street with Deli shops and a small wine store […] were just a five minute walk away. Definitely "functional" if you plan to visit the federal parliament area (no need to take the car), some restaurants around. The hotel is clean and you get the value for the money, the breakfast is also very correct.

Location was good for both walking into the city centre (and for a run along the canal too) as well as quick access to the main highway. We were in town visiting universities for the weekend and stayed at this hotel. We found the hotel very clean and comfortable. There was a kitchenette in the room, which was handy for snacks.
