I have travelled for both business and pleasure in the US and outside the country. The staff at this hotel is the most professional group of hotel employees I have encountered. I did have issues with the location of my room but it was addressed and taken care of immediately. I felt that the staff truly wanted my experience to be a positive one.

The hotel over booked and we were sent to the Charleston Inn. They handled the situation in a sincere and courteous fashion. I would return.

Comfortable hotel with relatively good service. Got in late and left early but its in a great location for restaurants and bars.

Poor maid service. Our room was clean upon arrival. The following day some of the towels were replaced. The toiletries were not replaced nor was the bath mat. Towels were brought to the room after the front dest was called. The subsequent day, the towels were replaced - again without the bath mat. The tub went uncleaned as there was hair in the drain […] and on the floor in front of the sink area. The fire alarm went off at 330a. We were allowed to return to our rooms about 430a with no explanation from the staff as to what caused the alarm. The front desk staff was pleasant and accomodating. The hotel and surrounding grounds were well kept. The hotel was centrally located, adjacent to shopping and restaurants. Perhaps it was an off day for the maid service. Would stay here again but may also look at other places as many choices are available in this area. Läs mer

Hotel was nice. Room service was exspentive like most wich was nice for change. The staff were helpful . Would like to have liked a mini bar in the room. It is located nicely near restaurants and shopping.

The staff was wonderful, very helpful in suggesting places to eat and drink. I dont remember what the room looked like, but the hotel itself was very posh and nice. Finding the hotel was another story altogether. The hotel is located on a one way street in seemingly one of the busiest areas in town. There is one sign which can missed among the crowds […] and even google maps told us it was on the wrong side of the street. One of us had to get out of the car while we had to circle back around the city to the street to find the hotel, with the help of people on the street with GPS phones and maps. Great location especially for shopping on King Street. Rooms and TVs are small. My impression after looking at the hotel website was that the hotel was a bit nicer. We will try another option on a return trip as I didn't feel it was a good value for the price.

A very nice, upscale hotel in the middle of historic Charleston. Unfortunately, like many more expensive hotels things like free internet and free parking aren't offered even though most cheaper hotels do. The boiler apparently failed one morning of our stay and we had no hot water for morning showers. This could probably happen anywhere but it was […] the one negative aspect of our visit. I was personally disappointed in the noise factor of the rooms. We could hear full conversation of the adjacent room more clear than the t.v. in our room. Also, every time a door was closed in nearby rooms, we could hear it in our room. I was upset that we were misled by the concierge regarding carriage ride times. We were on our honeymoon and wanted […] a romantic carriage ride at nighttime. We were told by the hotel that carriage rides were only up until 4 pm. While at dinner on our last night there we saw a Cinderella type carriage taking couples out at nighttime. By the time we finished dinner it was too late to go out. I feel the concierge should have known carriage rides were going out in the evening during the month of December or if not certain be honest and say so. While the convenience of the hotel was nice, the noise level was enough to keep me from going back to that hotel. We will go back to Charleston, however! Läs mer

The staff was nice enough and the location central, but there was a lot of mold in the shower and the gym was truly subpar.

The cleaning products used to clean the rooms are extremely strong and the odor made me sick. We had to change rooms twice before we found one that was tolerable.

This was a good quality hotel with very helpful and friendly staff set in a good location. The free internet for 4 hours per session in the lobby was a plus if you just wanted a quick browse. It was well located for most downtown attractions. The restaurant was good and was similar pricing to many others. We would probably stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance in Charleston. The staff were very accomodating. We had been given a room with a king bed for the 3 of us. The desk clerk initially offered us a rollaway bed, but our daughter was with us and had recently had surgery. After explaining our situation, she found a room with double beds that was also close to an elevator […] as she was on crutches. It is conveniently located to all the great restaurants and shopping. We were not there for a 'site seeing' trip this time, but assisting in moving a college student. Knowing from previous visits however, the hotel was conveniently located to what most people want to see and do in Charleston. We found it most satisfactory. It was clean, welcoming, and the breakfast was good. Thanks.

Over all good experience. Great location downtown Charleston. The shower was fantastic. We had to haul our luggage up and down at check out. Not that bad, but for such a nice hotel, I expected more help in that dept. The room was very nice (but no refrigerator). Bed and pillows very comfortable.

this hotel was more expensive than a five star Hotel I stayed in in London. There was no comparison. This hotel seemed to have an inexperienced staff ( the front desk clerk drew a blank when we asked for a recommendation for a breakfast place ). service was pretty much non- existent. I heard house keepers complaining about a recently departed guest. […] That just is not appropriate for a service oriented business. Floors were dirty in the hall, soda machine was empty, and the "Navigator" in the lobby was not available for almost the entire weekend. Great location, that's about it. Läs mer

Renaissance is a nice enough hotel--rooms are lovely and clean. However, I will think a lot before staying again. When I asked for a late checkout, I got a lame excuse that because I was part of a group meeting in the hotel, I would not be able to do so. No maybe, no let's see what we can do...just a plain no. We arrived at 5pm and were given the "hospitality" suite, which had a murphy bed and sofa, neither of which had been prepared with linens / pillows. We were then shunted to another really small room with 1 King (we requested 2 doubles). Then back to the first room, which had more space. Very fun place to spend the weekend..Great walking distance to everywhere, very centric. Just one thing, the rooms dont have minibars, so you have to go downstairs to buy water, sodas, etc...

My fiance and I stayed at the Renaissance Hotel for Labor Day weekend. I love love love this hotel. Let me begin by saying that it is the best smelling hotel I've ever stayed at!!!! Not kidding... usually hotels (even the nicest ones) have a smell coming from the carpet, but the Renaissance keeps up with making it a pleasant olfactory experience. I booked this room on hotels.com and requested 2 double beds. Upon check-in, I asked the front desk to confirm that we had 2 double beds and we did not. Without asking, they moved us to a larger corner room with a king and a pull-out sofa bed and sent up a rollaway cot. The room was very spacious and comfortable for us and our 2 kids. The waiter at […] breakfast for the buffet was super friendly and attended to our every need. He even went ahead and only charged me for one child - again without even asking. I will definitely stay at this hotel again due to the excellent service and its location allowing us to walk all of the historic district. Läs mer
