Hotell Jamaica Palace Hotel - Port Antonio

Beautiful grounds and views. The buildings are in nees of some painting but overall in good condition. The beds are the biggest problem. They are comprised of a foam mattress placed on top of a concrete base. Not comfortable.

The pool need upgrading and better water filtration. The restaurant dining area was not up to par as it appeared animals were allowed to roam leaving their deposits. No internet was available (for over a week) due to connection problems. Hotel has potential, just need a bit more work.

This hotel has all the amenities you would need for basic travel in the area and is actually located 4 miles outside Port Antonio. Central to many touristy locations and Lady G'Diver who I highly recommend for PADI Open Water Certification or diving! We came to Port Antonio from the resort hotels of Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, which may have affected our impression of the Jamaica Palace, but I will describe what we experienced. The hotel is a grand old house, but it is sad to say that it has clearly had its day- and that day was some time in the 1950s. The lobby was dark when we arrived, as were […] all the communal areas, which reflects on the nature of the hotel, since the hotel was empty, they didn't bother to turn any of the lights on. It seemed a bit as if they had given up. The girl on the desk sighed when she was told she would have to go upstairs to our room. The whole hotel is decorated like a chess board, which is a bit intense, and the grounds are dotted with cages with beautiful tropical birds. Whilst they were lovely, accompanied by the owner's depressing paintings all over the place. we found this place really creepy. As soon as we checked into the room, having had our bags dragged upstairs by 2 decrepit bellboys, we were desperate to leave. We had to sign a form saying we wouldn't steal the 1980s TV remote and were shown around the room, which was nice enough, but very old fashioned, with a loud air conditioning system. We got the hotel's driver, Sherman to take us into Port Antonio, and had a lovely evening in the town. When we got back to the room to go to sleep I had a shower and discovered the previous guest's personal hairs in the bath. We got into our cigarette burned sheets and went to sleep. We were awoken by the birds chirping in their cages and went downstairs to see what was going on for breakfast. Once again the place was deserted. The dining room had not been touched since the previous night when we had gone to have a look at it laid out for dinner. We were told by the manager that there was no chance of an upgrade of room since they were 'fully booked' but there was nobody else there! Rooms were spacious, and staff was friendly, but every service request was extremely slow to be filled. Hotel & grounds maintenance were also lacking. Front Desk staff recommended a driver (Sherman) for ground transportation & tours who was rude & pushy. We eventually found another driver on our own initiative who was more personable & efficient. An elegantly designed hotel, spacious, decorated with artwork. I think we were upgraded to a junior suite that openly linked the bedroom to an adjoining parlor with sofa and TV. The bed was a comfortable, circular one. Floors and walls were beautifully marbled, and the bath featured a step up tub. No problems with the quality of furnishings. Das Hotel war in früheren Jahren wahrscheinlich wunderschön, die Jahre hinterliessen jedoch ihre Spuren und eine Gesamtrenovation wäre dringend notwendig. Das Zimmer war gross und trotz allem gemütlich. Die Preise für Essen und Getränke sind für jamaikanische Verhältnisse ausserordentlich hoch, die Qualiät war aber gut.

Très belle décoration extérieure (damier noir et blanc), service soigné. Proche du lagon bleu et des 2 plages de la ville. Tarif correct.
