Detta va det västa vi varit med om ! På utsidan såg hotellet helt okej ut och vi var mycket glada att vara framme, när vi väl kom upp till rummet så va de sprickor i väggarna och i taket, vattenskador, fönstret gick inte att stänga, man hörde rinnande vatten hela tiden... ja vad ska man säga, det va helt enkelt en mardröm ! Vi frågade om vi kunde få […] byta rum redan samma kväll men de gick tydligen inte. Redan dagen därpå packade vi våra väskor utan en timmes sömn och hittade ett mysigt hotell i centrala amsterdam för en billig peng, och nej inga pengar fick vi tillbaka från HEM Hotell amsterdam och vi kommer aldrig tillbaka till detta hemska ställe ! Friendly but anonymous atmosphere. The room we stayed in had no window - budget standard - so no fresh air available. Maybe that is why I brought bed bugs home... So the stay was OK, but the memory is itching!

Allt var fint förutom att personalen i receptionen inte var så serviceminded. Nära till spårvagn och ett litet torg, där fans Lidl och en annan supermarket mm. skulle tydligen ligga ett coffieshop i närheten också men besökte aldrig det. Relativt fin restaurang med god mat, men dyrt! Frukost fruktansvärt dyrt.

Värt den lilla summa dom tog betalt! Synd bara att det blåste i gardinerna på rummet trots att alla fönster var stängda, en gammal ölflaska i ett fönster och ihop sopat smuts i ett av hörnen i rummet. Skitgoda mackor i lobbyn och en sjysst nyöppnad bar i källaren med dansgolv och rökrum. Nära till tunnelbana och spårvagn mm.

Är väldigt nöjd med min vistelse på hotellet. Dock var de lite slöa med att städa vårat rum, fick säga till flera gånger innan det blev gjort. Men annars är det ett mycket fint och mysigt hotell. Rekommenderar till alla ungdomar som vill bo billigt men ändå bekvämt när de är i Amsterdam.

Vi hade bokat ett billigt rum och hade inga stora förväntningar men... Vårt rum låg i en barrack utanför själva hotellet. Barracken låg mitt under en motorväg. Rummet var totalt inpyrt av rök trots att det fanns icke rök skyltar. Väggarna var skitiga och toaletten riktigt snuskig. Korridoren utanför luktade märkligt och såg inte ut att ha blivit städad […] på mycket länge. Vi fick byta rum efter att vi klagat, i det nya rummet (också i barracken) var situationen den samma minus röklukten. Jag är mycket nöjd över hotellet. Min vistelse varade 5 nätter. Jag betalade ett billigt pris och var väldigt förvånad över att det var så rent, bekvämt och fint. Hotellet ligger inte centralt, men både bussar, tåg och metron ligger 5 min ifrån, och efter 15 min är man inne i stan. Snabbt och enkelt. Under min vistelse ingick frukostbuffé och den […] var väldigt bra. Olika brödsorter, ägg, korvar, pålägg, drycker, kaffe, te, sallader. Mycket att välja på. Väldigt gott och mättande. Personalen var väldig trevliga och hjälpsamma. Mycket god engelska. Rummet var rymligt. Air-kondition fungerade väl. Det var rent. Handdukar och annat byttes ut varje dag, samt städades rummet. Det var en del unga på hotellet men jag och mitt sällskap blev inte störda en enda natt. De hade även en lunch/frukost restaurang. The hotel was nice and the staff was really good and polite.

GOOD: Markets(LYDL, Albert Heijin, Blokkers, etc.) are very close. / BAD: dirty towels, old bathroom, cold room, far from downtown, busy reception, window cannot be opened(in my case. other rooms may not), 5 minutes waiting before using hot water for shower, free but slow internet (<10Mbps), old TV

When I arrived at the hotel I found that it was in a nasty part of town. Its a good thing the parking lot was fenced in. The room was not configured the way i booked it. The bathrooms were not cleaned. I guess you get what you pay for. This was one of the cheapest hotl I could find. For the good price we paid for this hotel i initially thought it was an acceptable option. Reception staff were ok. Reception appearance was quite modern equally the hotel overall was good. No tea/coffee making facilites or toiletries provided in the room. Good shower .. clean sheets .. clean towels provided daily. UNTIL .... I heard the patter of tiny […] feet on both nights (mice!) I WAS NOT dreaming they woke me up and i sat up & listened to them scurry round the room. Will not stay here again. Läs mer

The hotel was good and not as bad as people have said. The hotel was very big and the staff were very good. The receptionists were very good. The downside is the ride to the hotel on tram 2 is 25mins. But there is good transport links. The food was ok. The only concern is the bathroom has glass around it so people who are in the room can see you in […] the shower. This would be okay for a couple but no 3 men sharing. Overall a good hotel. Läs mer

hotel was easy to find from a10 motorway, just 2 minutes from slip road. hotel was close to tramway & train station, only 20 minutes into central station 2 euros. Hotel rooms were clean, facilities were limited, however staff were pleasant and very helpful and accommodating. travelled with 12yr old daughter and felt safe in the hotel. parked car for […] 2 days in car park, and no issues. okay on a negative side, the smell of weed outside was unpleasant, but then again the smell of weed throughout amsterdam was the same, so would have encountered this issue everywhere. excellent value for money Läs mer

The room of 4 beds was very good. The only problem was mostly the air circulation. The aircondtion could not be regulated and there was no windows that could be opened in anyway. Just a little slider would be nice. When a person was in the shower you could see the whole body from the outside. There were no towels when i came, so i got it from the  […] hall. Läs mer

Iliked the supper that night. I am GF and Lactosefree. They were friendly and trying to be helpful.

Essentially as advertised, but no better. Out of the way location, grim hallways and the rooms aren't much better. Shower backed up and flooded the bathroom. I was glad I was staying just one night, but no big complaints.

Be carefull!!! I got 8x8 room with four beds!-instead of baby crib(as my daughter is was only 2 months) I got another bed. I had to share my little single bed with her as I really couldnt leave her on bed by herself. Also, water was leaking from the bathroom to underneat out beds, no fridge, no microwave, no coffee, nothing.... Heater was blowing cold […] air, we had to ask to get another heater and that was not worth the money we paid at all!!! Poeple at the front desk wasnt too freindly at all. their helper was more friendly then people at the reception! I give it ONE STAR!!! The place is generally clean although the interior looked a little aged. Location is not exactly in city center but is fine - not too far away from tram stop. And you can take the tram from there to pretty much most of the attractions.

The smell of drugs saturated the entire hotel. The majority of the guests were young adults (-23). The hotel staff were unprofessional, not helpful at all, and down right rude. Our room was a very long way from the check in desk. Everything extra cost about 3 times what it should have. It is located in a sketchy neighborhood. And I am pretty sure that […] the entire operation is a drug front. On the plus side, the hotel was cost efficient, the room was clean and comfortable, the hot water was plentiful and the water pressure was great. I would not stay there again unless I only had fifty dollars to my name and had no other alternative aside from a hostel. I would not suggest staying there if you are a mature person, or if you don't do drugs. Läs mer

I paid a decent fee for a nights stay and didn't expect to be treated quite as badly by the stuff. The hotel was in a middle of a construction site and after circling for a while I just walked and asked for directions to the parking lot around the construction. The stuff was not able to give me proper direction. When I came back at night my key didn't […] open the door to my room and it took quite some running up and down the stairs and asking the stuff for help, before I finally could make it into my room. In the morning I asked for direction to the airport. The stuff told me off quite rudely, as if that was such an unusual question. He simply told me that the highway was straight ahead, also it was rather complicated to get on it and it was not the correct highway to shiphol airport. Fortunately I got other help, or I would most certainly have missed my plane to Boston. You most certainly will not see me in the HEM hotel again. Läs mer

We arrived, someone else had been in our room , ie, bed messed up. Then nothing worked , ie ,hairdryer , had to hire hairdryer as they said no hairdryers in room, surprise next room had hairdryer that worked., tv, shower. Had to make a fuss to change rooms, next room was not quite as bad, lights in shower melted through cavity. 15-20 mins from centre […] of Amsterdam by tram. The hotel was not well maintained. Too hot in room and A/C was busted. Room was dusty and moldy/ bad smell. Warning: Amsterdam is too expensive

Close to Tram 2 route and grocery store. Rooms and hotel were not very clean. Service was bad. Slightly better than a hostel. I do not recommend.

Though the staff were friendly and it wasn't located in the 'roughest' part of Amsterdam, it was located a bit far from what we wanted to see. Hard to find as well if you are not a local. Tucked away down a street in between dodgy looking buildings. Tram stop is close by but it stops running at night so you'd have to work out an alternate bus route […] back making the end of nights out a bit awkward. Wouldnt recommend it for women travelling alone because some of the residents of the area were a bit weird. Was approached by a man on a bike asking for money. He followed us for a while til the local police intervened. Were doing renovations on inside of hotel making it look and sound like a construction zone. Bathroom was small and there were lots of big stains on carpet. In the end though it is just a place to sleep. Amsterdam is a lovely place! Läs mer

Took a bit of finding and had very hostel feeling. Staff were polite and attentive however we had lights hanging from sockets in our bathroom which was a bit alarming. I suppose you get what you pay for as this is no frills on outside of Amsterdam. It is quite close to Tram 2 stop which takes you directly into Amsterdam

advise to take a bus

this is a great hotel just outside the busy hub of amsterdam. The staff are always nice and the rooms are clean. The only thing to let down our visit is there was construction works just beside our window so we were always up early

Was I satisfied with my stay at the HEM. I’d say yes indeed. The HEM is one block from the tram so access to public transportation (GVB) is a breeze. Once you’re on the GVB anywhere in Amsterdam is at your finger tips. Our shower was the best. Small space for a shower, but the hot water pressure was splendid and endless. More than making up for the […] size. Our room (room 357) was facing the highway, which I was upset with at first but then I realized the highway emits very little noise thanks to the sound buffer wall. I could barely hear it from my open window. So at first I didn’t like room 357, I grew to love it. It has great exposure to the sun, the window opens all the way, it is at the end of the hallway so foot traffic by your door is low. In fact I’d suggest requesting room 257, 357 or 457 as they all share these benefits. The downside to the hem is that they charge you for WIFI, and for using the lobby computer. The coffee they sell in the lobby is expensive, small and not so great. The hotel halls and amenities are in mediocre condition. The room was decent but the hall ways and elevators were another story. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Overall a grade B hotel. At a decent price. Läs mer

Lots of horrible insects in the mattress. We were bitten seriously there and cannot sleep for the whole night. Terrible experience.

No customer service at all. Chek in time is very late at 2pm and they won't check you in a minute earlier than that. They'll make you wait until exactly 2pm even if your room is ready before that. I ask to borrow a bowl to take to my room and they refused. Very dirty. Stains all over the carpet on common areas and in rooms.

Reception looks like a jumble sale. Rooms are clean but are also tired and smell of smoke. Amsterdam is not very big so whilst the location is not central it is adequate. The hotel is however surrounded by housing estates and the Amsterdam ring-road so it's not exactly scenic. The hotel is very cheap and hence this mainly attracts students and large […] groups of men who spend most of the time drinking and smoking outside the front of the hotel. In summary, if all you want from a hotel is a bed, toilet and a shower, then this place is an option. HEM Hotel is not a place to relax and unwind! Läs mer

no hot water, no efficient heater, blocked sink.....

I had an awful experience at the HEM hotel. Most of the amenities were out of service at one time or another: if it wasn't the lift, it was the water or the internet or the electrical system. There were some incredibly rude staff there, but also some very nice ones. The room, despite being non-smoking, stank like a smoker's moustache. It was really […] awful. When we complained we were handed a bottle of woman's deodorant to spray in the room. It didn't help, and you can't open the window as it's bolted shut. They also said they had booked my shuttle to the airport. So I dutifully sat there waiting. When I asked where it was, I was told "It's often 15 minutes late." Nice to know. I came back again 10 minutes later and they rang the shuttle, spoke in Dutch and told me "5 minutes" 15 minutes later, still no shuttle. Finally, it arrives and it costs 2.50 more than the advertised price. I asked the driver if perhaps I ought to get a discount given he was half an hour late and I was in danger of missing my flight, whereupon he exploded in a rage about how HEM always cost him his tips by advertising the wrong price, and that the first phone call from HEM was only 15 minutes ago. Nice. HEM also shooed away our dinner deliveryman, claiming there were no guests staying in our room. I came down after the restaurant rang me to enlighten them as to our presence and was tersely asked why I didn't answer the room phone then? There was no phone in our room. I suspect they just didn't want to walk up stairs (on account of their broken elevator) to tell us it had arrived. Otherwise, their complete lack of awareness of our presence or phone shortage is rather amusing. Incidentally, as I was waiting for my ill-fated shuttle, another guest visited reception to complain about there being bugs in her room. My mother's sheets had small bloodstains on them from a previous guest who apparently had some bleeding sores on his or her feet and the sheets weren't well laundered afterwards. We Läs mer

Definetly not a 3 star hotel. run down, dump and dark room, not warm and unfriendly

When we were checking into the hotel, the two girls in front of us at the front desk were explaining that someone had stolen jewelry out of their room. There was water pouring out of the ceiling in the hallway and when we told the front desk, no one seemed to care. Every time the room above us flushed the toilet, it sounded like someone was breaking […] into our hotel room. It woke us up a few times at first because we didn't know what it was. The restaurant/bar service was horrid. They forgot our order even though there were only about 10 people including us in the restaurant. When we tried to get the attention of the bartender, she said she was busy and couldn't help us right then. Our first night there we put the "do not disturb" sign on the door. The maid knocked the next morning. We yelled that we didn't want any service. She decided to come into the room anyway to make sure we didn't want service. It was very annoying. We were asleep. She wouldn't let us be even though we told her and hung the sign up. This happened every morning. Once, we weren't even dressed and she just opened the door anyway. It's a crappy hotel, but it's a hotel. The beds are hard, you get one kinda messed up pillow, and the comforters are not comfortable. The staff is ranges from always annoyed bartenders to pushy maids. But, it's not a hostel and it's relatively clean. You get what you pay for I guess. Läs mer
