Hotell King George Palace - Aten

We absolutely loved our stay at King George Palace. The staff was super friendly and helpful and there was simply not anything we could complain about. It's close to all sightings, to the tourist areas and the shopping streets. Minimum walking distance to subway and buses departing from Syntagma square. We will go there again for sure!

Hotellet är jättefint och personalen bra. Men till min stora besvikelse var takpoolen endast tillgänglig för den som hyrde taksviten. Det varr denna bilden på hotels.se hemsida som gjorde att vi valde detta hotell och detta var en stor besvikelse. Det står även att alla rum har balkong vilket vi inte hade, men för övrigt är allt mycket bra.

Excellent hotel in ideal location for all aspects of Athens. The staff were really helpful. The breakfasts were great and the views of the Parthenon from the restaurant did not disappoint. We made full use of the spa. Top marks. We will certainly be back.

Beautiful hotel,great location,free upgrade,staff extremely helpful.Could watch the changing of the Guard from our room! Within walking distance of the Old Town and the Acropolis.Breakfast worth it just for the views alone.

Very nice older hotel in great location. Only downsides were poor fitness facility and lack of ice machines. Room itself was an upgrade from my booking. Very nicely furnished with classic older furniture and marble bath. Breakfast was included and was terrific.

I and my family enjoyed the hotel service , from the minute we walked to check in , a very attentive staff well mannered , helpful and very cooperative , rooms were clean and beautiful , breakfast was shocking as compared with other hotels , full , rich , fresh and Huge and the main beautiful thing is the view of the Acropolis .

Incredible detail to service...e.g. -Because we left at 6:00 am. to catch the ferry to Mikonos and were not going to be at the hotel for breakfast, they prepared a box breakfast for us and had them waiting at the front desk when we hopped in the cab for the pier.

The guest services at this hotel are beyond incredible- everyone from the Concierge to the Desk Staff to the people in the Spa went out of their way to help me, a traveler who didn't have all of my plans organized figure out what I needed in terms of flights, sight-seeing and more. Athens is definitely not in the best place right now and if you're traveling […] there you absolutely need to stay in a secure, safe area like you will find at the King George Palace. I had a wonderful experience and this hotel is the reason why. The dinner is excellent, the breakfast is complimentary and varied and I got a wonderful spa treatment. I was dissapointed with some but not all aspects of my stay.The room i was given did not have adequate desk space for working with a computer.The shower was over a bath tub which was difficult to get into and the shower is poorly positioned thus the water spills on the floor..Some of the staff at the front desk where unhelpfull.However the position […] is ideal and the breakfast on the 7th floor is very good with a good view of the Acropolis.The staff serving the breakfast were excellent. We selected this hotel to stay away from some of the stereotypes you hear about in Athens. When we arrived, the hotel was nice enough to pay the taxi for us because we lacked Euros, but the price went from 15 to 25. The next day when we checked out, they tried to increase it to 35. That was frustrating, but so was the hotel staff making copious amounts […] of noise in the hallway in the afternoon when we were trying to nap after a long day of travel. Additionally, the pillows were awful, and the staff smoked in our room when they turned down the sheets. This is not what you would expect of a Leading Hotel of the World. Läs mer

I like almost everything about this hotel. I have stayed at the Grande Bretagne before (right next door) and chose King George this year because of the much lower rates. I would say that King George has almost everything the GB does except for the rooftop pool. After an exhausting tour of the Holy Land, the King George was a welcome piece of luxury. The entire stay was perfect but too short. The staff was customer driven and attentive. The location was perfect. (Yes, the picture is accurate--the view from the restaurant was outstanding.) Please, please: do not miss the spa/pool area in the basement. Room was excellent, All staff helpful Train right off corner to left as you exit hotel - goes right to airport. Plaka 5 min walk, mini trams available to take you around & up to to Acropolis there. Restaurant food delicious and reasonable.

Great reception. Beautiful views of the acropolis from the breakfast room. The room is furnished befitting a 5 star hotel with all the expected accoutrements. As a family of 5, we had connecting rooms and enjoyed our 2 nights stay. The bathrooms were a little dated BUT very classy, special and oversized. Beds were super comfortable and has all the mod cons with solid furnishings. Very clean. The breakfast on the 7th floor was superb and couldn't ask for a better view of the Acropolis. Lounge and lobby undersell […] the rooms and fairly plain. Apart from bar prices thought very good value considering location at Parliament House and start of main shopping streets. The hotel is very impressive but expensive. I understand that it is a prestigious hotel but there are no free services although the high rates. Also, you only get a regular continental breakfast for the 50euro you pay per breakfast. If you are looking for a clean and fancy place to stay, this hotel is yours.

Great hotel in central location. Perfect for the start of our honeymoon and we were welcomed with a bottle of champagne, which made our stay very special. Thank you! Having breakfast with a view of the Acropolis was also great. We would recommend this hotel.

My wife and I stayed in a deluxe room as a free upgrade. The room was pleasant with that King George style. I'm sure we would have been happy even in a standard room. The room was cleaned very well daily with turn down service in the evening. The best part of King George for us was really the staff. We asked MANY questions about restaurants, excursions, […] points of interest, finding entertainment, and more. They were always extremely helpful and happy to help. This was important for us since reading Greek and finding your way around can be challenging. King George is right next to Syntagma Square which was extremely convenient for walking to the Plaka area and even to Acropolis Hill (which is about a half mile walk). We didn't need to use public transportation since everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. I would definitely recommend King George Palace for anyone wanting to visit Athens for business or for leisure. Läs mer

The King George Palace was the perfect hotel for our 2 night stay prior to taking a cruise from Athens. The location was excellent, central to all major sites. We walked to the various temples and to several stores and restaurants. The hotel itself was excellent. The rooms seemed large, by European standards and the hotel service was first class. However, […] the best part of the stay was the food in the hotel restaurant. We had dinner the first night, after nearly 20 hours of travel, and the food was magnificent. Sitting on the balcony, looking at the Acropolis at night, dining on the delicious food, was one of the best experiences in Athens. The daily breakfast was also terrific. Each morning, the buffet presented a wide variety of choices, and it was all excellent. In summation, the best thing I can say about this hotel is that we did not have to think about any issue with regard to our stay...it was all first class and all effortless on their part. Flawless! Exceptional in every way. i only stayed one night but i should have stayed for at least 2 nights. breakfast was phenomenol. Staff were always courteous and respectful without being condescending in any way. this was the ultimate in Greek hospitality. In fact, my entire visit to Greece was exceptional in every way.

The King George Palace is centrally located, with one of the best views of the Athens from the restaurant on the 7th floor. Staff are very helpful. Our room was a little cluttered with antique furniture.

Seven year old son was ill with Norovirus all weekend, so we could not leave the room. Staff were superb. The only slight downside was the limited room service menu as we had to eat in the room all weekend. Probably more than sufficient if you are not confined to the room!!!

Negative side Hotel is dated and in need of a refresh. Ring up prior to your visit and make sure that you get a room with a view of the square. I found the 'Superior' room dark and dingy with a view to a characterless courtyard. I was under the impression that there was a roof terrace with a pool - this is not the case. The hotel, staff and location were great I have two main compaints. One: The photo of the pool that they show on the website is misleading because the pool is not available to all guests. In fact, the hotel doesn't have an outside pool. The second complaint is that they rooms are old and outdated. I understand that they wan to keep the old hotel feel […] but my laptop was bigger the the TV in the room. I like that they had a stereo with iPhone/iPad input. Beautiful and classy hotel, excellent service and staff. Breakfast is fantastic in restaurant overlooking the city and Ocropolis. Loction is what you want. Only small reservation though is the prices of evening meal are steep. we got excellent value for money. We highly recommend it.
