Horrible windows/isolation since heavy traffic on the street outside high level of noise in rooms facing the street

Hotel Cristall ligger i kvarteren runt Münchens järnvägsstation, men i den lite trevligare delen. En del av rummen kan upplevas som något omoderna, men detta uppvägs helt och hållet av den underbara frukostbuffén och hotellrestaurangen. Servicen och personalen var också väldigt bra.

From our room in 5th floor, we were annoyed by traffic and shouting in the street. This because of very poor sound-insulated windows. It was like living on the ground floor. Aircondition was out of order. We had 26 degrees Celsius i the room when we woke up in the morning.

Great Location and friendly staff!!!! Centrally located within walking distance to everything you could want!!! The only drayback is the breakfast is not included and we were charged 17 Euros each!!! Ouch!!! Otherwise, great hotel.

Very nice location, the only issue with the hotel was the pillows and sheets in the rooms were not up to standard. The hotel was very reasonably priced and the staff were very pleasant.

This hotel is located just a short walk from the main train station - Munich Hauptbahnhof.  The numerous bars and night clubs in this neighbourhood  do not make for a good introduction to Munich.  However, the streets are perfectly safe.  We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights and walking home late at night was never a problem.  Our room faced the back […] of the hotel and even with our window open it was very quiet at night. The room was up to the usual Best Western standards - good towels, bedding, plug-ins etc.  Upon request, a tea service was delivered to our room.  The housekeeping staff cleaned our room daily. The location of the hotel gives one easy access to the U-Bahn, S-Bahn, and the tram.  Breakfast at the hotel is on the pricey side.  There are plenty of places close by for a coffee. Convenitently located within a few blocks of the Hauptbahnhof. Sumptious breakfast buffet, very friendly staff, and convenient parking made this a wonderful place to stay to explore Munich and the surrounding area.

The hotel service, comfort and cleanliness couldn't have been better. Being one block from the Hauptbahnhof, the location is perfect for those arriving by train to visit the Altstadt. The only drawback to some may be the many sex-oriented businesses and casinos in the immediate neighborhood, but the close proximity to the train statin and the Altstadt […] are an acceptable trade-off. Had an early morning meeting in Munich so booked for one night. Hotel location is pretty good- close to central train stations etc. Decor and finish in hotel is pretty poor and not sure how they achieved 4 star status. I've stayed in many hotels and this would normally be rated 3 star. Room was clean but major problem was that the temperate in the rooms […] was extremely hot and the air conditioning adjustment didnt work so I opened the window before I tried to go to sleep and spent most of the night being awoken by emergency services and police sirens :( Shower temp kept alternating from boiling to freezing so maybe they have some issues in the boiler room? Staff at reception next morning were pretty unhelpful and that was just me trying to check out- I didnt mention the room temp, just wanted to check out and be gone.. Because of Oktoberfest I paid a major premium for the room and was overall very disappointed. Wouldnt stay in Best Western again based on the experience. Läs mer

conveniently located near the main train station and short walking distance to both Oktoberfest grounds and other city sites/locations in Munich. staff was friendly and helpful. rooms were clean and very modern and bright.

I can not recomend this hotel because there is no airconditoning in the room, or whatever they have it does not work, and it get so hot it is impossible to sleep. If you open the windows to get some air, it's really noisy.

Close to Oktoberfest grounds and Main train station

We had a very nice and a memorable stay in Munich and the primary reason was our hotel comfort and convenience.

Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant. The breakfasts were excellent but found the dinner menu limited and small meals not suitable. The desk staff were very helpful with arranging a wheelchair for my son and assisting with travel information. The airconditioning in the room was the only thing we were not happy about....it wasn't cool enough.

We spent three days, and all we needed was to go between our hotel and Marienplatz and back each day to have a good time. :)

very well located,enabling walking to main attractions,tram,rail and u-bahn connections also available if prefered. staff very helpful.I will be using this hotel for future visits to Munich.

Hotel was in a convenient location from the train station; very clean, comfortable. The staff was efficient and polite, but a smile or two wouldn't hurt! The neighborhood is a bit seedy but seemed safe enough. There were not a lot of restaurants in a 2 block radius of the hotel except fast-food style establishments. However, the hotel has a restaurant […] that looked decent. We ended up eating across the street in a Mediterranean restaurant attached to the Courtyard Marriott and the meal and wine were excellent. There are plenty of sandwich shops inn the train station 1 1/2 blocks away where you can grab breakfast or lunch fairly inexpensively. Läs mer

The only good thing about this hotel was it location near to city center. Rooms were really small and beds were really old. A/C was not working. Parking lot was only having one way for the car going up and down and it was not clean at all.

The first room we got was not very nice. If you book through hotels.com I think they give a room on the first floor that is old and not well kept. But we went to the front desk and complained and they gave us a room on the third floor that was very new and clean. Great location, near train station and about a 10 minute walk from many main attractions. Neighborhood is fine and surrounding by Arab and middle eastern restaurants and stores. Not a problem just a point of information. Service was average and the hotel was doing renovations on our floor thus my friend and I were woken up by construction workers a […] few mornings. The beds are tiny and probably least comfortable beds I've experienced in Europe thus far. The front desk folks were very helpful in providing us with sights to see and bars/restaurants to visit. The location was out the side door of the train station (Munich HBF) and about a block to walk. Car rentals are conveinently at the train station. We came in around midnight and you do walk pass a exotic/sex store but the area is safe and that is just Munich for you. In daylight you will see that all is good in the area. Easy walking distance to everything […] you would want to see in the downtown. You are in one of the greatest cities so you gotta expect city street noise. The rooms are not air conditioned so open your window and take your earplugs with you. Our room was extremely clean. Staff was helpful with any questions. I chose this hotel because of the proximity to the train station, but after staying for two nights I have to say it was not worth it. The neighborhood is extremely sketchy, with casinos and strip clubs along the street nearby. Most rooms face over the street, so you can enjoy the constant din of traffic and emergency vehicles, accompanied by drunken […] shouting at night and construction noise to wake you early in the morning. The housekeeping staff woke me at 8:30 in the morning to clean the room - knocking once and entering while I was still half clothed. No explanation or apology was given. When we complained about this and an issue with the Internet connection (which is not free, just so you know), the hotel staff were extremely rude. When I talked to the manager I could understand where they got their attitude from. He refused to concede any fault on the part of the hotel, constantly interrupted me, and clearly did not care about the problems I was having. I paid each personal breadfast 17 EU /each day !

No air-conditioning and the fan in the room was broken. Front desk unable to replace. Very noisey room even with the street shutters down. Breakfast however, was great. When we go back to Munich we won't be staying in this hotel.

Excellent location - close to train station, and walking distance to city center. Only complaint - WiFi service was very slow and sometimes completely unavailable.

The hotel room was nice and clean...but it was uncomfortably hot. The weather outside was only in the upper 60's but the room stayed much warmer than this. The windows can be opened but all the rooms overlook a very noisy street and the adjacent buildings block any cross breeze. The information guide in the room states the hotel has fans available 24 […] hours a day at the reservation guest. This is not true! The hotel has a few fans available and they are on a first come first serve basis. I went to the desk and asked for a fan as soon as we checked in. The desk staff stated they would bring one right away...they never came and never called to let us know. I called after 3 hours and the desk rudely stated there were not any fans available and they would not be bringing one up that day. Hotel is located within walking distance from main train station. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The beds were extremely comfortable,the rooms although rather small were clean and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Business trip for a single night in March 2011. I have stayed at a number of hotels in Munich and my only advice is do not book a hotel based on price or star rating as this will have no bearing on the quality of the hotel. I have used Best Western hotels in other cities (Brussels, Paris) and have always found them efficient. This hotel in Munch was […] also efficient but was typically German. Not much charm but good to get your head down for the night. Mini Bar deal was good (if not a little hard to understand) , basically you could have everything in the mini bar for €5. For a business trip after a long meeting a beer, a bar of chocolate and a couple of bottles of water for €5 is worth the stay. Läs mer

I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, it is a sheer waste of money

The hotel was adequate. The problem was it was extremely hot and humid in Munich and the room was exceptionally hot. The room did not have central air conditioning, which I expected. However, the tower fan they provided did not cool the room down at all. We asked for a second fan and that helped somewhat. It got us through the second night anyway. This hotel was very convenient for us, because it only took a couple of minutes to walk to/from the train station. The room was very comfortable, clean and the staff was very nice. We did have a room that faced the street, so it was a little bit noisy, but since we were so exhaused the noise really didn't bother us much. I would stay here again.

Upon checking in, was sold an upgrade to a "quieter room overlooking courtyard" courtyard turned out to be a parking lot under construction. Was given a password for 1 hour free internet, but then charged for internet use upon check out. Attendant who spoke perfectly good english the day before became rude and suddenly didnt understand my objection. […] No AC and rooms were hot. This was a very nice hotel that I would recommend. The only issue I had was the location as it was quite a walk (with our luggage) from the Metro station so we took a cab.

I picked this hotel for its convenient location near the train station. We were only in town for 24hrs. The surrounding neighborhood is a little tacky (plenty of strip joints) but it felt completely safe. The main town square is very close to the hotel which made finding a place for dinner and drinks very easy.
