Wonderful location with the best beach that I have ever been to. However the hotel is in very bad condition and the service is poor. The food is literally inedible. We walked the short distance to the local restaurants for every meal. The Nablam hotel is close and has good food. Its way cheaper and I'll stay there next time I'm in Isla Mujeres. Absolutely stunning location on a small island off the larger island of Isla Mujeres. Our room was pretty small but the views were amazing and the price was right. A three-star hotel with a 5-star view at 3 star prices. Hotel was very empty during Thanksgiving week 2011, surprising because I think it's a pretty sweet deal and we would stay again.

Great location, beautiful beach on the northern tip of Isla Mujeres. Not up to resort standards, but acceptable. Hard beds, plain rooms, and bland lobby are not a big deal once you grab a beer at the bar and go into the wonderful beach that the hotel has surrounding it. The place is its own island. Amazing location, we stayed in one of the villas, right over the water, very private, quiet. Great service, everyone very friendly and helpful. But the bed was rock hard and the room shop worn. A little money to update would go a long ways here. And a map of the resort would be helpful: we ended up going thru the kitchen once to be able to get to our […] room. We were very disappointed to find out that this was a distressed properity. The properity had pour plumming and we had to be moved twice. The internet service was not available and the workout facilities were out of order. The bed was so hard that you could't sleep. The bank now owns the properity and they are not putting any money back into the property. […] I can't believe that you would allow me to spend this kind of money on a property like this. Only one restaurant was open and available for business. This was our anniversary. This is a very romantic private island and the employess were great. The intimacy of this hotel would be great if they had money to keep it up. this was our 25th weeding anniversary and turned out to less than satisfactory. WE finally up graded to a suite which cost us a lot more money than we had budgeted. The bridge accross the pay to the hotel was broken up and needed repair. The only thing that helped us get through this was the entire staff they were amazing. The A/C in my first two rooms was not working and they had to repair the one in my Suite twice to keep it working. The hotel is situated on its own private island off the Island of Mujeres, just a short ferry ride from Cancun. This hotel has a lot of charm but it is so run down that it takes away from the charm. Here is a hotel with mixed reviews but it all depends on your starting point. If this hotel was in Africa or parts of Asia every review would rave about its wonderful location and great service. The truth is that this hotel is excellent by standards of most hotels around the world - it is clean, exceptionally located and has a good range of services […] but it isn't an American/European chain brand with all that goes along with a brand like that. The staff are really friendly, parts of the hotel look a bit tired, the speed of service is in keeping with the culture - a bit laid back but overall it is a mega location with great year round weather and feels really safe. This hotel has a nice reef beach, you can swim with tropical fish. But they charge highly on using internet, and other things! Good location!

Best beach property location in Mexico. Not over crowded and you can snorkel right off the beach in warm clear water. Hotel is fairly basic but is clean and the staff are great. The hotel is on Playa Norte, but we found the other beaches south to be just as pretty so that in and of itself can not override the disrepair and ugliness of the rooms. The Activities Director was a huge pain in the neck, blaring music all day long and calling Bingo with a speaker so loud it could be heard as we were trying to have a quiet dinner across […] the little bay. He ruined the ambiance of the entire beach and pool area. No quiet reading allowed, I guess. My brother and I went to Islas Mujeres for some fishing and stayed at the Avalon. I do agree with the hard beds, but this is overshadowed by the wonderful staff, location, and facilities. Speaking for my brother and I, I could not have been more happy with our 7 night stay.

Just got back from 5 days on Isla. This hotel is great! The pool is relaxing and very clean, the rooms were simple and comfortable. I can't believe the great deal we got on this hotel. The beds were a little hard, but my bed at home is to soft, so it was no big deal, I wasn't there to spend a whole lot of time in my room the view is just to amazing. The Avalon Reef Club is a beautiful hotel with the most amazing back drop. The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating - we did not have ocean view and the girl at the front desk worked very hard to move us and we were grateful. Our […] rooms were O.K., but no clock, lamp, sometimes they would forget to replace towels that they removed, small things. We weren't in our rooms much. The food was very good, this hotel is within walking distance to everything, which we loved. We found the security to be a bit much, our friends came for a visit and we couldn't even take them to our room or show them around - which I personally thought would be good for business. Everything you read about the hard beds is true. The hotel needs some updates. The walls are thin. Waves block out most of the sounds in the villas but stay on the second floor - will prevent hearing the neighbours above you. The maids clean your room entirely every day and are very thorough. Our fridge in our room was broken and it took several days […] for someone to come and fix it. The location of this hotel is spectacular. The waters are shallow and crystal clear. The snorkelling outside your hotel room is beautiful with lots to see. The downtown area is approximately ten minute walk away and the island appears very safe. Lots of restaurants and cafes to chose from. Our favourite was Cafe Italia near the supermarket. The best expresso's, cappacinos and crepes. We started our morning there with her coffee's and crepes with nutella and fresh fruit for very cheap price! The hotel doesn't offer inclusive so you can walk downtown for cheap meals. Buy some Corona's and leave them in your fridge! You can also walk easily to the hotel from the ferry. You can pay someone to carry your luggage on their bike while you walk aside it. Cheap and nice way to stroll to your hotel from the ferry. Otherwise, a taxi is a cheap way too. Location! Location! Location! Have a few drinks before bed and put the hard bed out of your head! The waves will block out the rest of the noise! I loved the casuality of the island, mingling with locals and having the best scenery and waters available. I will definately go back there. Hotel is located close to ferry harbour on its own reef-islet, connected with a wooden bridbe to main island Ista Muijeres. Hotel is otherwise normally working medium class hotel with good restaurant. In our case the toilet facilities shower and especially the toilet need fundamental service == the outlets for used water did not work properly.

The location of this hotel is great; however,we would not stay there again. The hotel overall is rundown. Light bulbs were missing inside the room and outside our door. Drinking water had to be purchased. Ice had to be ordered from room service which took 30 minutes to deliver. Internet access was only in the lobby and very expensive. excellent location, private beach and you can walk in the water and be snorkeling and see hundreds of tropical fish. hotel is old, AC was leaking when we checked in and very, very noisy fitness room is a disaster, none of the equipment in working condition

This hotel was very nice... definitely the best on the island. There were many hotels, but none of them were as nice or had as good of a location. The hotel is built on an island with a bridge from the rest of the island. It is also surrounded by lots of white sand and a reef with lots of fish. Truly beautiful. I found the hotel staff to be very accommodating […] and helpful...and the main town to be very close by. There was also a very good restaurant under the hotel. Island Muheres had a nice slow "island pace" that simply felt good. It wasn't as busy as Cancun...and was truly relaxing. Lots of shops, restaurants, scooter/golf cart rentals all close by. The only dowside was that they had very firm mattresses in their hotel that hurt booth me and my wifes back. Läs mer

This hotel has a fantastic site on Isla Mujeres, but they are letting the hotel and services deteriorate. We had a studio villa and it was clean and comfortable and we were right on the ocean. The swimming is good and you can snorkel right off the beach. The staff are friendly enough, there just aren't enough of them. If you just want a decent room […] in a good location then this hotel will be for you, but if you are looking for a grand hotel with excellent service and amenities then I would stay somewhere else. Me and my husband to be spent four nights on The Avalon Reef Club. After reading many bad reviews we felt strongly about giving our opinion about this hotel. First of all we want to give all credit to the staff of this hotel. They do really treat you as royalty, and always with a smile on their face. We did not try the all inclusive package, but we […] had their breakfast buffet each morning, and it was great! Very fresh and much to choose from. The lunch and the dinner menue did not have to much to choose from, but it was alright. Special thanks to the restaurant staff that was amazing! The rooms though were a bit small, but for two people it was not that big of a deal. Some reviews mentioned the beds to be rock hard. The bed was kind of hard, but we have had much worse! The location of this hotel is absolutely amazing with turquoise water almost as far as you can see. It´s truly beautiful! When we left this hotel we did so with a heavy heart. We would definitly recomend you to give this wonderful staff a chance to show you what good service really means. And don`t forget to enjoy the location which is the best on Isla mujeres! Läs mer

My husband and I recently stayed in the 8-story tower. The room was really small and the bed as hard as rock - not exagerating here, the floor would have been softer. We initially had problems with the water pressure, but it was soon fixed after notifying the front desk. The location is unique as there is a natural ocean pool that surrounds the hotel […] and separates it from the island. There is a wooden bridge of sorts that connects the rest of the island to the hotel's "island". The natural ocean pool near the wooden bridge makes for excellent snorkeling and pictures, but if it's the beach that you're after, I would not recommend this hotel. This hotel's "beach" is very very small and not very clean. Walking back 'n forth from the hotel to the north beach and downtown area gets old real quick, so I would advise to either stay at a hotel near the north beach, or rent a golf cart like we did. Friends of ours stayed at Ixchel and we would recommend that hotel instead, it's on North Beach and closer to shopping and eating. Overall, for what we paid for the hotel, it was decent, but I probably won't stay there again with better choices in the area. Läs mer

the regular rooms were smelly , with mobile air condition which was VERY noisy and the room was too small. we heard that the villas are much nicer. I guess they cost more... we dont reccomand the regular rooms. besides that the view is very nice and the location is ok.

We loved Isla Mujeres. It is a quiet little island where you can really relax. The Avalon Reef Club is located on its own litte island that connects to Isla Mujeres by a short bridge. They are right by the best beach in Isla Mujeres and just a short walk to downtown. The food wasnt very good here, but there are plenty of places to eat that are just […] a short walk away. Reef right there, you don't have to get on a boat to see fish! i saw more fish here in the "el rey" tide pool than i did at palancar reef in cozumel. This hotel has exceptional serive, great location (if you like to snorkle), and great drinks!

Boede på dette hotel i 1 uge. Servicen på hotellet var ganske enkelt ikke eksisterende. Vi havde en del problemer med indtjekning/udtjekning samt manglende all inclusive. Hotellets beliggenhed er smuk - dog trænger hotellet til en opfriskning. Vi havde en air condition maskine som larmede så meget at vi ikke kunne sove, når den var tændt.

Ved booking på hotels.com ser man kun eksteriøre bilder og blir lurt til å tro at dette er et deilig sted å slappe av. Det er det ikke. Beliggenheten ute på reef'et gjør at det blåser noe helt vanvittig, så hvis ikke sola steiker er det ganske kaldt vintersesongen. Folka som jobber der er ikke spesielt hyggelige og prisen er skyhøy til den standarden. […] Rom på sjøsiden gjør at du drømmer om tsunamier hele natta pga voldsomme bølgeslag. Esta fue la impresion que recibi de mi hija y mi yerno. Este fue parte de su regalo de Bodas y de todos los hoteles en los que estuvieron, que fue en Playa del CArmen, en Mahagual; Cozumel, Cancun y Isla, con la pena fue en el que me comentaron no regresaria... We stayed 5days. Great view, foods & drinks at bar/delivery is reasonable. If your room is on west side, some sea plant's smell is annoying, but nothing to do with hotel servise. You will be stanned to see the sunrise.

El hotel esta en un lugar muy especial y bonito. Sin embargo el mantenimiento a sus instalaciones deja mucho que desear. En una estadia de 2 noches debimos pedir el control remoto, asi como el arreglo de la caja de seguridad y de la cerradura de la puerta. El servicio de su personal deja mucho que desear teniendo en cuenta el valor pagado.

Das Hotel ist wunderschön gelegen. Direkt neben dem Playa Norte und nur wenige Schritte zu Fuss ins Zentrum. Leider ist das Hotel stark veraltet. Die Zimmer sind zweckmässig eingerichtet, aber mehr auch nicht. Pool-/Barbereich renovierungsbedürftig. Der Zimmerpreis ist nicht mehr gerechtfertigt für die Qualität des Hotels. Un hôtel accueillant avec vue imprenable sur les Caraïbes. La boutique est trop chère comparée aux prix des boutiques en ville et les cheveux de l'occupante précédente dans le lit et la douche m'ont refroidie!!
