Bra läge, mycket prisvärt hotell. Rummen var rena och fina. Enda problemet var att det gick otroligt långsamt att checka in och att incheckningspersonalen inte hade någon vidare koll på vad dom höll på med. Med hotellets läge gör att jag bokar det igen nästa gång jag besöker Barcelona.

Förorten Eixample skapades 1860–1920 och har således stadens finaste moderna byggnader. Passeig de Gràcia är huvudpulsådern med sina breda trottoarer som kantas av designerbutiker och chica butiker. Här ligger även Gaudís två sagolika mästerverk, Casa Batlló och La Pedrera, plus många andra arkitektoniska ädelstenar. Den självutnämnda stjärnan i Eixample är La Sagrada Familia, Gaudís fantastiska oavslutade och emblematiska kyrka.

Inget fel på läget, närhet till shopping och sevärdigheter. Men.... Små rum, även om man betalar extra för city-standard. Dåligt underhållet.. krokar hänger löst, handfat trasiga, sprickor i fönster, fruktansvärd kvalité på hantverksarbetet! "Extremt bra Hotel"
Ett mycket väll skött hotel med hög standard och bra personal. Jag kan definitivt rekommendera det. Renare och freshare hotel blir svårt att hitta i Barcelona i den här prisklassen.

Bra hotel. Hade ett standard rum med fönster mot innergården så det var ganska mörkt på rumment men det passade bra då vi bara skulle sova där. Passar bra även om man inte är Gay, men främst för par som reser för lite romantik, detta då duschen är i glas och vetter ut mot sov delen av rummet. 10 min promenad till La rambla, 5 min från flygbussen. 30 […] min promenad till Stranden. Kan rekomendera en resturang som ligger 30 meter från hotellet vid namn LA. Läs mer

Utsikten från rummet var under all kritik. Från 6:e våningen rakt ner i ett schakt och i övrigt bara plåtväggar. Saknade också sittmöbler på rummet.
"Hotell Axel Urban Spa, Barcelona"
Mycket bra hotell med utmärkt läge i centrala Barcelona. 10 min promenad till La Rambla, 30 min promenad till stranden. Många gay-par på hotellet men inget som störde. Fantastiskt takbar med solstolar och bubbelbad med utsikt ner till havet. Gott om caféer runt hörnet att äta frukost på om man inte vill äta på hotellet.
"One of my favorite hotel with an awsome Skybar"
The hotel was really really nice and they had listen to my wishes that I had left when I booked my staying, that I would like to have a room as high up as possible and I got that. The service was also great, the helped me to find the way to the things that I should see or do, they were extremely friendly. The breakfast was a little bit expensive but […] it was good anyway. The skybar was awsome with both a pool and a jacuzzi and the view from the roof was nice. The location was good, close to both the metro and buses. I took the bus on my way back home to the airport and that was really easy. I will definitely come back to Axel Hotel Barcelona & Urban Spa, hopefully next year. Läs mer

"Axel Hotel Barcelona - ej prisvärt"
Rummet dominerades av en enorm fyrkantig säng med plats för fyra personer. I den fick man sitta eller ligga för att se TV. Fotöljer fanns inte. En enda stol fanns - vid ett minimalt skrivbord som saknade såväl skrivbordslåda som lampa. Ett plus dock för värdeskåpet som var rymligt och enkelt att öppna/stänga med kodlås. Hissarna var svagt upplysta […] av röda paneler i taket, våningsknapparna var så lågt placerade att man i den dåliga belysningen måste böja sig ner för att hitta rätt knapp. Frukosten var svindyr! Det fick räcka med en frukost i den restaurangen, övriga dagar åt vi på en mindre restaurang i närheten till mindre än halva det priset. Läs mer

Trevligt hotell i bra läge. Fler heteromänniskor än gay kändes det som. Vi bodde där med vår 6månaders dotter - funkade bra. Fick en barnsäng till rummet. Men varför har man inga väggkrokar att hänga upp kläder mm på - varken i badrummet eller övriga hotellrummet. Som vanligt runt medelhavet har man heller inte fattat att en säng ska vara utrustad […] med en bäddmadrass och inte enbart med en resårmadrass. "Kul hotell - fast mest om man är gay"
Missade på något sätt i bokningen att det här är ett hotell som först och främst vänder sig en gaypublik - och då främst gay-killar. Inget fel i det, 70-talsdisco i lobbyn är ju charmigt på sitt sätt, men sen blir det lite tjatigt att se bilder på halvnakna killar lite överallt, i hissen, på tv'n, på kassaskåpet och på väggbelysningen. Man känner sig […] helt enkelt rätt malplacé. Sen valde vi just dettta hotell för att få ett rum med balkong , vilket visade sig vara franska fönster ut till en halvmeter djup avsats man delar med rummet brevid. Ingen egen balkong alltså. Kvarteren runtom är ganska slitna, man får räkna med att gå flera kvarter innan det dyker upp ställen man skulle vilja äta eller ta en drink på. Men annars är personalen trevlig och frukosten bra, så för ett par gaykillar, eller singlar, borde det funka bra... Läs mer
"En besvikelse"
Hört mycket om hotellet, men fick först ett sämre rum än beställt. Började bli slitet och dålig städning under vistelsen. Morgonrockar osv fanns ej på rummet. Snobbig attityd och avslutade med att beställa en taxi som kostade det dubbla mot normalt.

Mycket bra hotell. Mycket trevlig och hjälpsam personal, hjälpte alltid till med och rekomendera restauranger och ringa och boka. Trevliga rum, kanske, lite små skavanker men inget som man orkar bry sig om direkt. Trådlöst internet var gratis och lika så tillgång till gymmet, som var ett fullt utrustad gym. Frukosten kanske var gränsfall till dyrt. […] Men under kontroll, var helt klart godkänd. Var ju lite skoj och bo på ett gayhotel oxå. :) Då behövde man ju inte ens få konstiga blickar, utan man fick automatisk en stor dubbelsäng, fast man är två killar. "Nice hotel"
I've been staying here few days for leisure. Hotel staff are nice and helpful, Giving suggestion on tourist location, restaurants! Location is good, just few blocks from the main street. The only thing needs to improve is the wifi....it's not working sometimes!

"bad customer service"
We were not provided with the room which we paid for and were told on arrival that this is subject to availability, however, it did not state this anywhere in our confirmation. We were then told by another member of staff that the room description on the confirmation was apparently not for the room we paid for, so why did it have this description in […] the first place?! The staff were extremely rude when we approached them regarding the matter and kept fobbing us off with different stories. "Perfect stay"
Simply perfect.
Very much a hotel that caters to the LGBT society. Great staff, clean and as a heterosexual couple felt comfortable and had a great stay. Would stay there again.

"Could be great but bad management and services"
The hotel is very cool but between the late checkin, misleading room description and bad wifi servcice I would not stay there again. My checkin was delayed 1 hour past check in time and then I was given a single bed instead of the King I booked. I would have needed to wait another hour for the King room I booked. My City room the called it faced a wall […] and it was impossible to use my Ipad in my room. When speaking to the manager it was clear they could care a less they just want to sell their rooms out everynight. I would think twice about booking this hotel. Läs mer

Staff were great and the hotel was a very comfortable and relaxing experience. Location was almost perfect. I was only slightly disappointed by the lack of free wifi and ipod charger in the room which my hotels.com's booking confirmation had mentioned were part of the service that I was being offered. The rooms are modern and clean!! Love the showers!!! Been to the AXEL Hotel in Buenos Aires and that was awesome! The AXEL Hotel in Barcelona did not disappoint!! In a very convenient area. Close to the FUN BARS!! Worth staying!!
"Okay hotel, not worth the high price"
Decent hotel with very small rooms. Located in the heart of the gay district of Barcelona, but the standard of the hotel is just mediocre. Definitely not worth the high price. The hotel may be hetrofriendly, but there is no huge difference between a hotel that is hetrofriendly and any other.

"Cool Hotel"
We arrived early and left our bags, on our return there was a problem with the electricty so no power to parts of the Hotel including the rooms and reception. With this in mind the reception staff were execelent in their handling of their customers as it was checkin time and a que was forming. We were quickley checked in and upgraded to a suite so no […] complaints there. I must say at this point I am not someone that would normaly stay in a suite,so after the inital WoW! I now have to comment, the lack of electricty aside (daytime) and windows the entire length of the suite light was not a problem. The terrace was fantastic and large enought for a party for 30 people. Bed was comfortable and room was clean, the suite was designed around the building and made the best use of space so in all the other half live very well indeed. The only comments would be, Interior Design, in the attempt at the "Cool" ? In the bathroom there was no door so there was a damp smell, the floor and wall finising was in a gray and cream giving a diry look although spotless, and the restaurant was closed when it was supposed to be open. With this in mind and considdering that to date I have had cause in most hotels I have stayed in to complain eg safe not working, noisy boiler etc, and always stay (4* up). The hotel is great and the staff will make the stay all the more enjoyable, extremely friendly. WiFi could do with upgrading as a little slow, but there are 2 terminals on the 1st floor to make those all important airline return check-ins. Good location and the district has character. Beware of pick-pockets possing as lost and looking for directions, […] they are about (we got caught-out, sadly), but it didn't spoil our overall experience enjoying either Barcelona or the Axel hotel. The Axel Hotel in Barcelona felt like an oasis of comfort and luxury. The staff was very helpful, though they were a little slow with check in and check out. The hotel lobby, elevators, hallways, and rooms were always maintained and very clean. The Deluxe room held a modern elegant feel and had several amenities such as slippers, robe, hairdryer, toiletries, […] refrigerator, free wi-fi, and plasma television. "Much better than picture"
I truly enjoyed my stay in this hotel. The rooms were better than picture. I have room with street view which made a big difference. I highly advise to pay a bit more for that. People who stayed in the least expensive rooms may not be as impressed as I. I do not see anything slizzy about the hotel as one reviewer had mentioned before. The hotel is definitely […] trended for gay clients but there were 30 % of clients were young straight couples. Some pictures had picture of men with shirt off but nothing vulgar about it. "Bad service"
We preordered a baby bed which wasn't available att arrival. The girl in the reception compensated us first night with a bottle of cava, which was nice. Next they a very unfriendly man in the reception told us the baby's bed was not available for another two nights. I told him we were promised to get it, but he said it wasn't possible to reserv the […] bed before arrival. No compensation this time. The same day they didn't clean our room until 4,30 pm. When we went to reception to ask for a coffee while waiting the same unfriendly guy said the bar opened first at five, and we should have ordered room service before leaving the room. No help there. The next day my wife went for a facial in the spa but forgot to give the discount voucher she'd received. After asking the same unfriendly guy in the reception if he could register the voucher later the same day he said this wasn't possible. Upon checking out the roomservice tab of 100 euro included a bottle of water which we hadn't taken. The unfriendly guy didn't want to take it off the tab in the beginning. When we said never mind he finally erased it. Summary: Really bad servie for being a four star hotel. No understanding from the unfriendly guy that his job is to solve these kinds of problems that we had. Of course we can't recommend this hotel to anyone, since the lever of service is too important. The Good: Great location, a lot of the sites are within walking distance and it is far enough away from Las Ramblas to not have to deal with the street noise at night. The start of the Las Ramblas is just a few blocks away. The hop on/off bus tour is a 10 minute walk away. The room was large and clean. We were upgraded to a premium room so I can't […] comment on the standard room. The shower was great, lots of pressure and water. The staff were very friendly and spoke good english. There is a great little coffee shop across the street where breakfast is cheaper than the hotel. The spa was relaxing and for 7 Euros worth it, we used it every day. The Bad: Not much other than their wireless internet is very very slow. The bar in the hotel is never busy but there are lots of bars in the area so not a big deal. Summary: There may be cheaper hotels in the area but for the location and ammenities I would stay here again for sure. Läs mer

nice overall property, great location, close to Aerobus stops, Metro, and about 15 min walk to la Ramblas. Pool on rooftop very nice feature. Rooms modern and clean. Great fitness center. We booked a basic room...checked in. It was clean, modern and overall fine (NOTE:all basic rooms look into a quite dark open air space they call the courtyard (view […] of a wall), but, I don't spend much time in the room when I travel so that was OK for me, and it should be quiet at night) EXCEPT the basic rooms on the first floor (there are only a few) back up to the lobby....which has loud music playing (Think W hotel style), which we could hear in our room (118). They graciously moved us to another room...and it was even a superior room, which was very very nice (still a bit small by US sizes, but, more than ample s pace). Great shower, etc. The staff overall are very nice and professional. Definitely has a gay bent, but, there were many "straight" guests who seem quite comfortable. Läs mer

The Axel Hotel is fabulous. It's a gay boutique hotel and their motto is hetero-friendly. The staff is pleasant, helpful and very responsive. Firstly there is a real gym, a rooftop bar and pool. Secondly, the best Caiparhina I've ever. And a handsome clientele. It doesn't matter if you are gay or straight or undecided. It's just a great hotel with reasonable […] prices and nice ammenities. As much as I liked the hotel, I expected more, certainly for the price but also based on the recommendations of friends who had visited previously. Various things didn't work or only badly, like the internet, room refrigerator, room lights, television, etc. The roof deck chair wheel fell off when moved, not a good sign of attention to detail. The ground […] bar and kitchen are mostly closed or empty. All perhaps because of the continuing recession, but again the Friday/Saturday room rates reflect something more. When it was a small boutique (and pretty-much exclusively gay) hotel, it was excellent. Now, it's vastly increased in size and is just another Barcelona Hotel. All the rooms have ultra-violet lights above the entrance door - for "elf and safety". They are on all night and light-up the whole room. I assume someone's wired them up incorrectly and they […] should only come on in an emergency! Despite being told that all hotels in Spain are the same, I've yet to stay in another that has this problem. Another niggle - you have to pay to use the spa facilities - €7 per person per day - which is crazy. Don't even think about breakfast in the hotel - go across the road to the great coffee shop. "Great location, gay-ish, and clean-ish"
This was a good hotel overall. The location is excellent, with close proximity to the major touristic and commercial sites. The WiFi was a bit sluggish--but it's free. The breakfast isn't really worth it, as there is a cafe (w/ free WiFi) across the street, which offers comfortable indoor and outdoor seatings. The staff is definitely more helpful if […] you make an effort to speak Spanish. The room was good and felt generally clean, but there were dust bunnies on the floor. As for the "gay" aspect... There were many gay tourists, yes, but the rooftop bar appeared to be mostly straight (women) during my stay, and and the "gay" concept is more about the hip image than anything else, in my opinion. Although your room key is needed for the elevator, there is pretty much no security otherwise (e.g., anyone can enter the hotel and take the stairs--to any of the floors.... 24 hours. So, what's the point of the key-controlled elevator?). When I checked in, there was drama in the lobby-- as an American tourist had his valuables stolen, right from the check-in counter, as he looked away!!! Läs mer
