"Service wins out"
This is an old building with rooms everywhere and lovely decor in the communal areas. The WiFi isn't brilliant and I didn't sample breakfast, but I would stay again simple for the staff. "Comfortable Classic"
We loved this mature 100 year old former railway hotel. The staff was amazingly nice and the room large and comfortable. The restoration itself is worth the look.Verifierad gästrecension

Very disappointed with our accommodation, Firstly the lift was out of order and remained so for the weekend, we had two elderly companions with us and as you can imagine this caused much discomfort as they had to climb stairs to and from their rooms and to access the area where breakfast was being served. Temperatures were below freezing and the radiator […] in our senior friends room was off and could not be turned on as the heating control was broken. The bedrooms were very small and in need of a good refurbishment, however the staff were friendly and polite, but on the Saturday evening when we went to eat in the bar area ( which was to remain open to serve food until 9.00pm ) stopped serving at 7.30, apparently another function was taking place in the ballroom.. had we been informed of this other arrangements could have been made, Läs merVerifierad gästrecension
"Leisure break"
We were very disappointed with our stay in the Southern hotel, Sligo.the lift was out of order during our stay, and with two elderly companions this was an awful inconvienance. the rooms were really small and in need of refurbishment, the heating didn't work at all in our friends room, and as it was one of the coldest week ends with minus temps this […] really was unacceptable. When we went down to eat on the Saturday evening at 7.45 ( food in the bar is served until 9.00 pm) we were refused service because a function was taking place in the Hotel, if we had been informed of this we could have made other arrangements, In short, I don't think we will use this hotel again, On the plus side.. staff were very friendly , breakfast was great, but thats about it. "excellent weekend in sligo"
Stayed 3 nights at the best western, reception & bar area are really nice had food 1evening it was good. Spent a nice morning in the gym steam room and jacuzzi we had it all to ourselves so was really nice.10 min walk to center of town. "Brilliant hotel"
Stayed two nights and loved it here. The lobby, bar, lounge area are beautifully furnished, the decor is old worldly gorgeous. Our room was also beautifully furnished, spacious, opening windows, nice view, Good TV, desk internet, hair dryer,good lighting, very comfortable and cozy. Staff were very good also. "Old time stylish but a bit funky"
Hotel has charm and style and the public areas are comfortable and impressive, lobby areas especially so. Good bar and attached restaurant area for evening meals. A few features need updating like the bathrooms (old and not so functional). It typically took several minutes to obtain a hot shower and the shower curtain was rather unpleasant. My travel […] partner's room was not serviced at all one day! Another annoyance was that the hotel was completely locked up before midnight ("for security reason")midweek and a tiny bell push to alert the night staff was not obvious to find. Even after finding this it took several minutes to gain access (night porter "doing other jobs" - sleeping?). "Very near the centre of Sligo"
The hotel is a standard 3 star property. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable but a bit dated . The room we were allocated was to the back of the property which had a view of the bolier. Not an issue as it was only a bed for the night but would have concerns if you were staying longer. "Alright for one night"
Although the service was attentive and pleasant, our room was small and dark. We had dinner in the bar and received what was clearly plated and reheated dinner with school-meal veg of scooped lumpy mash and frozen sprouts! Deserts seemed to be the bought in variety and pretty tasteless. Based on this, we would not recommend the food. "Sligo Southern Hotel -convenient and comfortable"
Stayed here on a mid-week break. Hotel is very central. Within walking distance from all shops, bars and city sights. Right next to bus and train stations and taxi rank. Rooms are comfortable and have everything u need. Price very reasonable and u get great value for money. Staff are helpful and friendly. Didnt use Leisure centre or Gymnasium so can't […] comment on them. Nice cozy little bar where u can relax. Overall very happy with the hotel and would stay here again. "Fawlty Towers"
Arrived on Saturday at 7.30pm, car park packed no residence parking area, had to park a good 5 minute/10min walk away carrying bags in the rain, then to be told that due to a function in the hotel that the dinning room wasn`t open that night (a Saturday)! "What a dump -"
after travelling around Europe and the UK for three months and staying at more than 60 hotels we can say categorically this is the worst hotel we have every stayed at. After finally finding a parking space we had to carry our heavy suitcases up the front stairs to the patio and then more stairs to the hotel entrance (no lift on street level). The room […] was old and smelled musty, the floorboards in the corridor creak so loudly and none of the doors have door stoppers so every time someone closes their door the bang echo's throughout the floor. After dinner in the bar/cafe we waited and waited for the lift which was stuck on the basement. After waiting 15 minutes we reported it again to the receptionist who told us we could always use the stairs! How rude! To top off a lousy night - there was no hot water for a shower - the receptionist told they 'they were supposed to have fixed that'. Guess what? They haven't! "Best WEstern Slogo - Ideal for weekend getaway"
The Best Western Sligo is nicely located and within walking distance of the town centre. Staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous. Rooms are basic enough but if you're looking for a place to base yourself whilst you enjoy the amenities then its ideal. "Nothing Changes"

"Best Western.....Needs a name change as it's not"
On arrival in the hotel car park at 20:45 I had to wait 20 mins for a parking space to become available. I was parked aI asked the receptionist about room service/food in the hotel. She informed me to go to the"Vending machine" As they had no food after 9pm. The room had cobwebs on the light fixtures and the floor creaked every time somebody walked […] down the corridor due to the wooden floorboards. I had to go into town to get food as I was hungry after the 2.5 hour drive. The corridor of the hotel stank of chlorine every time I passed through it. The room we were allocated on arrival was found to be substandard but upon complaint we were allocated what I would call a good standard room. The leisure centre- the pool is tiny - sauna and steam rooms were not working - needs updating.
