Our room was so small we tripped over our open suitcases. Only one bedside stand and that was so rickety items fell over. Private Bathroom in the hall was several doors down and so tiny you couldn't pick up dropped soap in the shower. Neighborhood was industrial and run down. Would not stay there again, ever.

About a mile from real downtown Portland, but there are a few restaurants right on the same block. Nice rooms -- we had a separate but private bathroom down the hall. Breakfast was good and we appreciated the cookies and coffee/tea when we arrived. Friendly service. Overall great stay.

I stayed in a single room with a twin bed - great price, just what I needed. However, this involved a semi-private bathroom. So - if sharing a bathroom with a stranger doesn't freak you out, then great. Fortunately we did not ever run into each other (myself and stranger)- but it could get ugly if their shower schedule is the same as yours. The room and bed linens were clean. Nostalgic appearance but tastefully decorated. The staff was excellent. They were friendly and very helpful going the extra mile every time. I would stay here again if seeking a simple but clean place to stay.

My room was hilariously small. The price was right and it was conveniently located in downtown so my next morning meetings were easy to get to. The free breakfast is really just coffee, cereal, and pastries/muffins. I would probably stay here again.

Place was very clean, it's a quirky building, narrow maze like hallways, small rooms. My room did not have an attached bathroom, it was in the hallway (but only for my room). Parking lot is tiny and you might have to park next door in their overflow parking at the Chinese restaurant. Everything was pretty much fine until I got back to my room a little […] after midnight only to then find that the heater in the room did not work. It was chilly that night and I really needed that heater, and there weren't enough blankets to keep me warm. I was tired by then and didn't feel like going to the desk to complain and possibly have to change rooms so I just dealt with it. But that is a pretty big oversight on their part and kind of a deal beaker for me. I'll probably try a different place next time. Läs mer

Not in the scenic downtown, a bit of a walk to all the wonderful restaurants, and some would find the neighborhood a little sketchy. But the value for money is outstanding. Clean and comfortable, a good breakfast, at an amazingly low price. Convenient to the minor-league ballpark and the train station. Better than I had expected. Bath was a separated locked room down from the sleeping room. No elevator. But sleeping room very comfortable.

Nice bed and breakfast. We had a queen room with a private hall bathroom, which was across the from our room. The room was nice and cozy with a small TV. We stayed at The Inn at St. John for our first anniversary and absolutely loved it. The hotel was cute and comfortable, the rooms were awesome, we loved the private hall baths, and the staff were fantastic. Our shower head actually broke when my husband tried to turn it, and they came right up and fixed it. The manager apologized (we told him it was […] no problem), and was wonderful about it. Clean, friendly staff, central location, 5 minute car ride to downtown, Limited parking, small showers but it was nice to have a private bathroom that only we could use. Decent breakfast items in the morning: fruit cereal coffee muffins bagels tea water bottles. Overall it was a nice stay

The facility and staff were first rate. I would stay there again. Or room had the restroom in the hall which wasn't an issue. My understanding is that most rooms have them inside but we got a great deal and didn't mind. Everybody was friendly and professional and the room was clean and comfortable.

This is a quaint hotel near the airport and near downtown. Only drawback is it's not in downtown, and while the area around it is fine, it's not in the center of things.

Great price, great people, very cute inn! I came for an interview I was having in the area, and it is very cozy. Typical hotel breakfast, the bathroom isn't connect to your room, and the room was small, but you can't beat the price! The decor was lovely. Great stay if you are here for business!

The location of this hotel was very convenient for a visit to the hospital. There are a lot of small restaurants in the area. The room was very clean and charming. Our room was on the second floor so having no elevator wasnt a big deal for us.

There's nothing not to like about the Inn At St. John. If you prefer modern, large, look-alike chain hotels this might not work for you. If you like old, charming and rich with character you'll love it here.

Great location, friendly and above all, competent staff. Nice set up with coffee, cookies, etc all day, along with a truly nice and very full continental breakfast, with even fresh fruit. This was as good if not better than most hotels/motels advertise as their special full breakfast. loved most things about this hotel from the friendly staff to the excellent selection at their continental breakfast bar; not so keen on having to climb 3 flights of stairs for lack of an elevator and having a private but separate bathroom in hallway. Still, great value for price paid!
