From the other reviews we were kinda taking a risk but once we got there it was not as bad as the review were saying our room was very clean and the staff was good so of them didnt seem like they wanted to be bothered but who really does while your at work. "Old Beach Motel"
Room was clean for an old weathered motel. Staff was friendly and very apoligetic for the lack of towels. Pool was in decent condition, though why use a pool when the beach is a stones throw away. Our family of 4 had plenty of space. A/C was a little weird. 1 window unit to cool 2 rooms. Worked ok if interior doors were left open. Kitchen was usable. […] We did not use it as we only stayed for 1 night. Prepare to bring dish soap as there was none to use. Pots and pans were minimal. "Horrible Room"
I was charged an additional $50 fee for the cleaning of the room since we had our small dog with us however we had to go and buy candles and air freshner because the room smelt so bad when we entered it. This fee was a fee that was charged to everyone that has a pet but I don't believe that they used it to clean the rooms.Verifierad gästrecension från Expedia

"Never again"
There was two separate rooms and one little window unit AC in the back. So the front room was very hot. The bathroom needed some serious tlc. They cleaned the pool and we got in right after there was hair and trash still all in it. The clean up guy was going through people's coolers outside taking stuff out of it and then bummed cigarettes off someone […] else. There was no wifi in the hotel. I was very disappointed for what we paid. The parking lot was across the street. There was only a few spot by the hotel itself. The towels felt like sandpaper. "Don't be fooled by pictures!!"
This place is a total dump. Last update was probably 1992. Rooms were cramped, smelled bad and felt dirty. Stove looked unsafe. Refrigerator took up a lot of space in second room. First thing i find out is the parking lot is so small that you have to park across the street.The motel parking, for the most part, belongs to the hotel next door and they watch and ticket cars if parked in their spaces. So even as we unlaoded the car i had to stay next to the car in case they came by. but if you stayed up late or got up early you might […] find that a car had left Viking motel you could run across the street and move your car. Im in a wheel chair or use a walker. In the rooms the paint is peeling off the walls. You could pull huge pieces of peeling paint. The beds sheets are yellow from age and dirty. There was hair on everything, the beds, the towles. When you walk barefoot in the rooms the bottom of you feet are black. Dishes in cabinet were greasy and i had to rewash every kitchen item before we used them. I could go on and on but i think this enough. I would not stay there ever again. My stay here was very poor the service was poor I stayed for 2 nights I never got toilets and they never vaccumed my floor so I ended up asking for a vaccum and when I went down from my floor the hotel keepers woudnt give me clean towels very rude and uncomfortable stay never againVerifierad gästrecension

"close to shoping, beach and many places to eat"
We were able to do early check-in which was nice. The staff was friendly and very supportive. The room was very clean, we had some blown light bulbs, but maintenance fixed that ASAP. The pool was a delight. My granddaughter really enjoyed that. The only thing missing was a hot tub. That would be nice. The beach was just steps away, wonderful!!! and […] the views from the balcony was absolutely the best. Great foor the price. Perfect if you won't be in the room often or if you need a room only to sleep. Right on the beach which is a great plus. "Comfort at half the price!!"
I have used Expedia to book at the Viking Motel for the last several years because we always go to a car show in February. This motel is great for the money. It is never crowded! The rooms are big and they include a small kitchen to cook in which really helps when you bring your family or children. This year I booked 3 rooms at The Viking Motel and […] all three were great. Room 301 is especially nice with a view of the street and a view of the ocean. It was huge and had plenty of space for my four children to sleep and relax in. I think one thing that could have been better each time I visited was more towels and washcloths in the rooms. This is an older hotel but it is very comfy for what we paid and we will continue to book at The Viking for as long as it is around I'm sure. I like the privacy here and I enjoy being able to go out without having to fight a crowd. It is easy to find and in an excellent location!! This place was absolutely nasty! There was garbage still in the bathroom when we entered and the place smelled horrible. The beds had hair all over them like the linens had not been changed out just made back over. We left and never will we ever book a stay there again. The pictures make the hotel look bigger than it really is. It is not nice but it is not crappy either. The woman, Dray, at the front desk was super nice and helpful and made our stay great. We loved our stay at the viking motel, the staff was friendly and helpful! We were right there on the beach and for the price you could not beat this motel. "Not Worth A Cheap Price"
This hotel is poorly maintained--for example, the toilet tissue holder was absent, the tub drained oh so very slowly that water was filling the tub before a short shower was finished. The two room suite with kitchen has a window air conditioner in one room and a fan in a vent to the adjacent room. This sets up a choice--either one room must be kept […] refrigerator cold or on room is at the mercy of a the hot sun. Room service was not completed until 5pm. "Great price, not so great experience."
Decided on the Viking due to the good nightly rate and the oceanfront location. The pictures online are nothing like what the rooms look like. The hotel is in a desperate need of a facelift. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off while the tile in the bathroom is coming up from the over spillage of water from the shower. During our stay the housekeeping […] staff was short handed so the maid service was not well. Not once was our floors swept and on one day we had to ask for clean towels and our response was "put your dirty ones outside your door and we will be by to get them". Once they did finally come to pick up the towels we had to wait another 20 mins for the clean towels. After one day of sightseeing, we came back to the hotel and found a firetruck parked in the front of the building, the next day 2 police officers were walking around the hotel with the manager and several nights we noticed police lights from the window. "Not the best but certainly not the worst"
This is the second year we have stayed at the Viking. Although the hotel itself is old, the service and employees are some of the nicest around. We love going to the Viking because the beach access is awesome and the beach is never really crowed in that location. "Oceanfront viking - decent cheap stay"
We stayed at the Viking for 7 nights. It is what I expected it to be - an inexpensive motel on the beach. The rooms were a little run down but mostly clean. It is definitely no frills but it had all the things it said it would. Our room had three beds and a kitchenette. Everything worked just fine in the kitchenette. It is right on the beach so you can just walk right out onto the water. "it sucked"
I will never stay there again it was nasty and didn't look nothing like the pics on there web site I wouldn't let my dog stay there we felt we was staying at a crack motel that is how bad it is there and its bad when one of their head board falls on a little kid and he had to go to the hospital two times and all they want to give the parents is ten […] percent off of their stay that's sad and there aren't two tvs in the room and their housekeepers vacuum doesn't work the floors was black and felt gross you have to wear your shoes the whole time because if u don't your feet will be black I just don't understand how they get away with it being like that so I wouldn't waste my money that's a warning for whoever tries to stay there I know me and my family will never stay there again and they won't refund your money I think the place needs to be condemned Läs merVerifierad gästrecension
"Bad, but not as bad as we expected."
I booked the hotel thinking that we would be at the beach all day and would basically be sleeping at the hotel, which for the most part is true. Then I read all of the reviews and was actually dreading even sleeping there. I came expecting the worst, and didn't get the 'worst' but close enough. I will say there were no bed bugs, but there was mold on […] the bathroom ceiling and on the wall by the front window, the tub didn't drain, and there was only one TV which was very blurry and the remote didn't work. They do vacuum the pools but the kiddie pool seems unfiltered and dirty. There are about 15 parking spaces and the rest of the parking is across the street. We were on the third floor and the floor of the hotel was dry, so I was surprised of that (other reviews said their floor was wet). We didn't let housekeeping in, we exchanged the towels and sheets when the cart went by and changed everything ourselves. Some of the guests were pretty entertaining, getting into shouting matches and calling each other names in the pool, not the type of people I would want my kids to be around, but for the price, what do you expect? The room worked for what we needed-- a place to sleep. The biggest inconvenience was that our bathtub was clogged, which wasn't helpful with sand. The entire building needs some upkeep. Well! I have a big family, even though, the room was big enough with 3 beds. The AC was in one room and does not cool the other. The Kids froze in the room while my wife and I were sweating ev en with the fan on high in thre other room. It is convenient (at the beach). It lacks maintenance and cleanliness and parking. The motel was very disappointing and was nothing like the pics or the description when booked. The pics showed a pull out sofa which neither room had and the fan was filthy with dirt; didnt have enough silver ware nor pots and pans, no coffee, no wash cloths and the carpet was dirty and the extra bedroom was extrememly hot! "Oceafront Vikings in Mytrle Beach."
This motel was a dump. The carpet was dirty, there was one television for two rooms. Only half the picture could be seen on that television. However; the staff were very nice and understanding. "Not even if it was FREE !"
I don't even know where to start! I didn't expect the top of the line motel, but when we were charged a "resort fee" we had to laugh. Then the ride up to the room in the urine soaked elevator, only to arrive to a dirty room didn't make it better. We felt so uncomfortable that no one slept under the blankets, in fact I went to Walmart and bought blankets […] and we covered the bed up and used purchased blankets to cover up with. We were there for 6 nights and not one day of housekeeping. We bought our own toilet paper and went to the office everyday for clean towels. We had a family of 5 there and it did have a kitchen, however we were unable to cook because there were not enough dishes for everyone to eat off of .We did make good use of the refrigerator in the bedroom though. (yes the bedroom). If you plan on staying in this motel, bring blankets, sheets, towels, dishes, toilet paper, and enjoy the beach front place.
