Hotell Jacobs Inn - Hostel / Backpacker - Dublin

I had very low expectations on this hostel since it's really cheap, but I was in for a positive surprise. Close to The Spire, Conolly Station and Temple Bar District, located in a quiet area. Staff was helpful and the rooms were clean. Free breakfast, real simple but very acceptable considering the price you pay when staying. First, they will nickel and dime you to death, whether it is credit card transaction fees or a €2 charge per day to use a locker, plus €10 deposit. Lockers are basic security and shouldn't be extra. You're not allowed to use your own lock. They also made somewhat crappy recommendations that seemed motivated by kick-backs from establishments, rather […] than legitimately worthwhile things to do. Jacobs Inn was cleaner than other hostels, and we were fortunate to have a washroom in our room. They are very organized, with a locker room, breakfast, key cards, etc. It was in a great location. My sister and I, both young women, stayed there a week. We were staying in a 4-bed dorm. In that time, we rarely had the same dormmate more than two nights, […] however each and every person staying in our room was an older male. We were uncomfortable, especially when some of them peed on the floor or came in at 2am and made no effort to be quiet, or continuously asked us intrusive questions. The hostel may be decent, but the guests are not. We did not have the option to stay in an all-girl dorm, or we would have taken it, but the hostel staff should have matched guests in a room more responsibly. Also, there was never enough towels for everyone in the room, which was part of what we paid for in getting a 4-bed dorm. My experience may be unique, but it is worth the warning to other young female travelers. There was another resident looking at Xrated material on his computer and masturbating in full view of everyone in the lobby, including the ladies at the Jacobs Inn reception desk. While I realize this is not their fault, they also didn't take immediate action […] when I brought the situation to their attention. Instead of dismissing this potentially dangerous person from their hostel, they called the manager, who was off for the next two days, and considered that the end of their responsibilities. Since I did not want to share a room with someone who finds public masturbation acceptable, I had to pay extra to upgrade to a single room at the last minute. The single room was clean and safe, no frills but perfect for a traveler on a budget. Still, it concerns me that a perverted young man was staying in a room with other single young women. My stay at Jacobs Inn was great - the location is very close to the town centre, staff very helpful and friendly, room very clean and with all facilities, breakfast very good. I definitely recommend this to anyone planning to visit Dublin.

Fantastic. Extremely clean & modern, shower room was hotel perfect, breakfast was fine, the free sauna was wonderful & reception were really helpful. Really decent hostel for such a low price.

Stayed at Jacobs Inn for 3 nights and thought it was great! The hotel staff were really helpful checking inn and recommending places for me and my friend to check out. The hostel is in a super convenient location - easy to walk to the city center and there is a line of taxi's 24/7 outside the hostel. We never woke up in time for the free breakfast, […] but there is free breakfast. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. They provide towels. The room we stayed in had 5 bunk beds and one bathroom, and there was also another bathroom in the hallway. It was quiet at night. Great stay as far as hostels go! Läs mer

Nice trendy hotel in the town center.

I just stayed one night to get a bed and a quick braekfast in the morning. It was all I had hoped for and some more.Clean , tidy and freindly. Breakfast was basic but adequate.Handy to central Dublin and straightforward 20min. walk to the 02 (The Point) for concert.Would recomend, and will stay again when in Dublin. Cheers Craig.

It is a very nice place for the price. Kind staff. Rooms and facilities are clean but the cover of the comforter did not look so clean because it was colorful and looked worn out. It is just behind the Garda (police) HQ. Breakfast also exceeded my expectations. The only real problem was some of guests (i.e. drunk young tourists). But I'd stay again […] . Läs mer

I'd never stayed at a hostel before, which everyone warned me about. It was clean and very secure, and the room we shared was with nice, quiet folks.

We only stayed here 1 night,and I'm relieved we didn't need to stay longer. My husband and I were in a room with many other travelers, and there is no privacy curtain around the bed, so it was very hard to sleep peacefully w/ all of the noise. We had a rental car, and this Inn was very hard to find in our car. AND, there was no parking nearby (a 10" […] walk away). The bathroom and room was clean, though, and the staff was very helpful. This place is a hostel, but to a much higher standard than I ever expected. I booked a four bed room with a bathroom and it was extremely nice and clean with comfortable beds... great value for money. Dublin is very expensive if you are on a budget. Pints are more expensive than London and eating out is expensive also. However, the hostel has a small […] bar in the tv and pool room which serves pints for half price. They also have themed dinner nights, you get a meal and an alcoholic drink, 1/3 the price of a pub. The front desk also sells bus tickets to the airport at half price. All in all, they do a great job at making your stay in Dublin more enjoyable. And a must is the free walking tour of Dublin they offer. It is two and a half hours long, very well presented by nice young students, and is completely free, but they do earn tips. Läs mer

Bonne auberge de jeunesse, très bonne situation. La chambre était propre, grande salle de bain. Le seul point négatif est le petit déjeuner! Il y avait seulement des cornflakes et des toasts blancs. Je vous la recommande!

auberge sympa a 2 pas du quartier animé de Dublin pour touristes. Si dormir en dortoir ne vous effraie pas alors il est fait pour vous

It's a good ption of hostel. It's clean, well organized and simple rules make it a a cost effective option when staying in Dublin. Recommendable hostel.

Absolut empfehlenswert. Das Frühstücksbuffet war etwas Sparsam ausgelegt aber akzeptable.Kann nur weiter empfehlen.

Jacobs inn er et fint hostel til pengene. Vi boede på et fint nyt værelse med lille fladskærm, og helt nyt badeværelse der var rigtig lækkert.. Det var resten af værelset også med køjesenge og fint rengjort. Beliggenheden er også fantastisk, ligger lige ved siden af bus stationen og det tager blot 10 min på gå ben ind til O´Connel street. Morgenmaden […] er som på andre hostels, toastbrød, smør, syltetøj, juise og kaffe. Personalet er vældig flinke, vi fik lov til at komme ind før tid og de hjalp os med ruter osv. Når vi engang skal tilbage til Dublin vil vi helt sikker anvende dette hostel igen. Jeg boede på Abrahams House sidste år, for det første var det dyrere og slet ikke samme standard, meget beskidt og ulækkert. Så skal i til Dublin, kan Jacobs inn helt klart anbefales til prisen!! Hôtel bon marché et très bien situé : à 20 min. à pied de Temple Bar ! Les prix sont bien placés, dans la moyenne de ce genre de formule "auberge de jeunesse"! Chambres de 10 lits superposés, relativement propres (ça dépend aussi des co-locs !). Avec 1 salle de bains par chambre. Malgré un accès controlé par badge magnétique, il y a pas mal de "squatters" […] dans les couloirs, voire même dans les chambres ! L'idéal, c'est donc d'y aller à 10 ! ;-) Se lever tôt pour le petit-déj pour éviter la cohue ! Le buffet sera qd même bien fourni en cas d'affluence... NB : je n'ai pas eu l'occasion d'essayer, mais l'hotel propose des soirées à thème, avec repas bon marché ; ça avait l'air sympa ! Läs mer

Très satisfait de l'hôtel, de l'accueil, des prestations, de la situation et de la propreté. (Juste le salle de bain spacieuse mais pas très propre) Je le recommande !!!
