Vintage type hotel a plu, not too crazy about the unswept floors and only two towels which surprised me. When i used the iron i recieved a shock at my feet by the cord. i brought it to attention of the front desk clerk and he wasnt able to assist me although was appologetic. nice place, but those little things didnt make it worth the cost.

Centered in the heart of the town, this lovely hotel is highly recommended to stay at if you will be in the Mayaquez area. Perfect location, great staff, clean, nice bar/lobby area newly renovated, beautiful church across the street, and just overall satisfied. Arrival-OK check-in was OK Parking - adecuate and convenient The hotel is run-down, the lobby is OK, but the rooms are NOT. The AC has an on/off switch so you cannot maneuver the temperature, the AC was filthy, I left the hotel w/allergy and sinus. Since the hotel is downtown the noise from the street filters into the rooms our room was next to an abandoned […] building which looked terrible the street was very noisy, horns, people partying late being very loud. Our towels were dirty thank God we took our own towels since we were going to the beach. Breakfast is acceptable. Too pricey for this "terrible experience". Was I think it was over priced. The parking I thought was free. You park free at the lot but you have to pay the hotel to park. Theres a bar 2 blocks away and the band plays till 1:30 or 2 I know this cause in my room you could here it .The bakery across the street was the best I've ever been in the treats where great. The Lady that check us in didn't […] seam to care if we where there or not and didn't have a smile or at least show one to us. I was Delighted to be here as it became Real Easy to see all the Prominent places. Breakfast was Adequate. Staff was Friendly and Helpful. Shopping got Easy.

A little noisy in the morning but otherwise perfect!

the breakfest lay out was not the best,you must have a better presentation & manu and you will have better respond in the future. Just for this i would not stay there again,sorry.

All in all, I am happy with this hotel. Except for a room which had some mold I have no regrets. The room was changed though.

Very nice staff, clean rooms, great rates. The bathrooms are very modern with all the amenities you need. Breakfast is served and is top rate. The location is right downtown across from the 300 years old Cathedral and Columbus Square.

The hotel was very nice but there was no one there that had any insight as what to do or see and who to direct us . The resturant at the hotel was very limited for food choice and offered no native dishes. Breaskfast was very poor in quality and choices.

In This hotel we had to ask daily for towels ( some day they gave us none or 1 face towel, some days they gave us no wash towels, and yet some days we got no towel at all). They offer free continental bearkfast, but it was just coffee. The room was cleaned very poorly at some on kown times. We had to spend most of the day out of room so that they would […] send someone to clean it between 9:00am-6:00pm. We even found giant roaches crawling on the walls. The pool was beautiful but it looked like it was never cleaned. Family and friends couldn't call you directly to the room. And they couldn't leave you a message. I have been to a lot of hotels in my 54 years of life. This one was the very worst I've ever been in. So there is no need to visit this hotel ever! Läs mer

The overall expirience was satisfying. It is a good spot if you just want to visit mayaguez for a couple of days (no more) or as a cost effective room near a conference. Unfortunately the bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were so flat not even two pillows made a regular one.

The pictures are deceiving. The hotel staff was pleasant but that is not very well received when the hotel is bad. It looks like it had better days. Right now it's just too old and not worth the price. Swimming pool is a "Bath Tub", as described by my teenage daughter. The only good thing was the beds. Very confortable and they looked clean. The neigjborhood […] was really scary at night. Felt like anyone from the street could just climb from outside and enter your room. I wouldnt recommend it if you find vacancy in another hotel, but thats exactly tje problem. There wasn't room anywhere else, thats why we ended up here. This stay was exactly what I wanted-some time to myself after visiting family for a week. I just wanted time to relax, no time constraints, no pressures, just sit in the plaza and watch the world go by. It was almost a little too relaxed in that a lot of businesses around the plaza have closed in these hard economic times. The day I arrived there was […] a classic cars show in the evening, mainly cars from the 50s and 60s, with 50s rock and roll and honky tonk kind of music blaring from two big speakers. Not exactly what you think of in a plaza in Puerto Rico! But lots of families were hanging out. If it had been salsa music, or musica tipica you KNOW they would have all been dancing. As it was, that music in Plaza Colón seemed a little surreal. But it was nice to just hang out, eat some pinchos, stroll over to Rex Cream for some natural fruit helados (and boy, was that tasty). The plaza has a "Friend's Café" but I opted for the Panaderia Ricomini on Calle Iglesia for most of my sit down food. A nice cafe con leche and a brazo gitano (guava jelly roll) were the perfect treat to boost your energy on a lazy afternoon, or a nice cold Malta India, a non-alchoholic malt drink to slake your thirst. The Ricomini bakery seemed to be a favorite for the after church crowd, as it gets pretty busy around then. So try to beat the rush on Sunday morning or sleep late. The hotel's continental breakfast is pretty worthless, so head for the Ricomini instead. I didn't actually turn on my air conditioner-but the ceilings in these great old buildings are so high, and the windows sheltered by the surrounding balcon that it felt very comfortable. The swimming pool is small, as is the lounging area around it. If you want to work on your tan, you can only do so from about 10:30-1:00, because it's in shade the rest of the time. My stay at Howard Johnson was pleasent, quit, and relaxing.The room was clean and bright.The staff was pleasent and helpful.My stay was delightful.Thank you.

Wnen returning at 4 PM after being out since 8 AM on 2/26/11 the room was not done. Front desk notified and about 1 hour later we left. By the time we came back about 9 PM, it was done.

Very good conditions and clean. Rooms confortable and the lobby very friendly.

This is an old priest's residence across the main plaza and church. The location is great, parking is hard to find; we recommend to use the hotel parking. Continental breakfast is excellent and abundant with an attendant to take care of you, if needed. Rooms are clean. We stayed for two nights. The A/C in the first room was 'all-or-nothing.' We asked to move, and they gave us another room with no hassle. I did laugh when we heard the cars running over the plate in the street that other reviewers have mentioned. It was no biggie for us (and we are fairly light sleepers), but if you are one of those people who can't […] handle any noise, consider asking for a room on the other side of the bldg. The neighborhood is nice. The University and the TARS are both within walking distance, as is the Colombus Square, the City Hall, and the Yaguez Theater. For cheap, wonderful local eats, ask for the "20th Century" (Ceilio Vente, or somthing like that) Cafeteria, about 1.5 blocks away. The Howard Johnson in Mayaguez was very clean; however, I did encounter some inconveniences. Mainly, the customer service was terrible. Now, I am aware that this hotel is not in the US and I shouldn't expect the exact same treatment, but it is the Howard Johnson and the employees should be trained to perform in the same manner as all others. The front […] desk clerk had a friend that is not an employee sitting with her when I arrived. She was polite, but then was unable to change my bed request from 1 queen to 2 beds. The next clerk I dealt with was rude and on the phone when I arrived at the desk, and also refused to help me make the change. Then the television in the room began giving me problems, and the gentleman I spoke with simply said, "I don't know how to handle that." He did not provide a solution at all. Encontrè lo que buscaba y esperaba durante mi estadìa en el hotel.

Es cómodo, limpio y esta cerca de atracciones del pueblo Mayaguez.

El hotel es pequeño, pero muy muy comodo y bonito. Mayaguez es super hermoso.

Das Hotel liegt in der Altstadt nahe der neu restaurierten Plaza de Colón. Ansonsten ist die Stadtmitte von Mayaguez wenig sehenswert, viele Bauten sehen baufällig oder vermüllt aus. Einige Häuser sind verlassen.

Primera vez que me quedo en Mayaguez y no me puedo quejar de la excelente localizacion que tiene este hotel. Pude caminar y visitar algunos lugares de interes sin problemas.
