I spend @Mooring's Hotel 5day. I was very happy and satisfied. My room was harbourview which is the best there. The hotel staff are very polite and helpful with nice manner. "Would return"
The hotel was nice and close to the centre of Port Vila and everything that we needed. We were disappointed that the big bar depicted in all the photos wasn't there anymore. The staff were happy and helpful, and the food and drink prices at The Moorings were good. "More for the younger generation"
This hotel is more suitable for the younger crowd as that is who they seem to cater for. The music starts at 7am and goes throughout the night. The beach area (if you call it that) was filthy. "Not as great as it is advertised."
Not as great as it is advertised. The rooms are small. Breakfast that is included is not that great. No value for money. There are better place in port vila at similar price. Staff seems to be not well trained. Reception did not give us information regarding tourism levy during check in. This was a surprise as we were checking out. One of our friends […] toilet was not cleaned properly and it was dirty from inside. over all a poor experience. Note - this is our view after we shifted from Sunset bungalows. "G8t position- on water. Room facs & bfast just ok."
For the price I paid thru Expedia and due to proximity to water (and town) I would stay at this hotel again. However if I was paying normal rate I would have been very disappointed.I had asked for a quieter room and due to renovations and a celebration seemed to have been given noisiest room. After 2 nights of little sleep I was moved to a much quieter […] room (which happened to be a deluxe room right on the water). There were only 3 stations to watch on tv and the breakfast was basic. The air con turned off as soon as I exited the room,so on hot days this was frustrating....but understandable. Staff were generally friendly and helpful and (unlike my experience at another Pt. Vila hotel ) welcomed my Ni Vanuatu family when they came to visit or meet me. I would definitely try and book a waterside room on a return visit...worth the extra dollars! "Tidy and Clean...."
The Motel was clean and friendly enough, but inquired about upgrading and happy to pay....i was told the place was booked out solid,,,,in which is was not at all, very quiet and it lacked atmosphere... hardly anyone around...the motel night club did not really seem to bother us, even though you could hear it...but that was not an issue...Vanuatu did […] seem rather expensive in every way, (except happyhour)...the meals were beautiful, but at Australian prices....next time if I were to go back i'd go to an island resort to soak up the water veiws , as where we were placed it was like dormatries!!....school camp......it was only a walk to into town five mins, which was great, breakfast was included in our stay...and every day that was lovely.... "Honest review from a seasoned traveler"
This hotel is basically an upmarket backpackers place. Rooms are clean, with air con and beds are ok, view amazing, location is good and only 10 min walk to central town. Staff are badly trained and not informed but are plight and easy going. Rooms has all the basic things you need but TVs do not pickup any channels! Pool is lovely and perfect at sunset. I had read that this could be a noisy place, but my husband stayed last year and it was fine. However, this time it was as per some other reviews. Our very small room was close to the disco and it went from 8.00pm until 5.00am and we had to leave at 5.20am - needless to say no sleep. "Great place to stay in Vanuatu."
Overall we liked the hotel and would go there again because of price, cleanliness and friendliness. When we first got to the hotel, we thought the rooms were tiny compared with other places we have been but because we didn't spend much time in our room it didn't bother us. They clean the rooms everyday and put in fresh towels. The sheets looked like […] they had been changed everyday too. There's airconditioning and fans to suit individual needs. The food at the restaurant and throughout the island is expensive. We took advantage of the breakfasts that were included in the price. No meats for breakfast but stacks of freshly cooked pancakes, cereals, fruit, breads of different kinds etc. We ate up big at breakfast before we took off for town and the tourist spots. The snorkling and swimming were great. We actually didn't get to use the hotel pool because we had so many more things to do. Our room faced the water and we could get up and look out our window at the cruise ships and sailing boats in the harbour. Absolutely beautiful views. Those who had the rooms at the bottom end of the complex had even better views and deck chairs to sit on. There are numerous covered relaxation areas surrounding the water where you can eat, read or veg out. The hotel is on the waterfront. Some of the more expensive hotels had mosquito netting and mosquito coils but we didn't have mosquitos at Moorings. There's a nightclub at the hotel. On Wednesdays they have a Melanesian feast. Arrived just after midnight and eventually found a security guard to let us into our room. Unfortunately it was Saturday night and a very loud nightclub operates right next door and continued until after 3.00am. We were only staying one night waiting for an ongoing flight and next morning fronted up for the included breakfast which was very ordinary. "nice hotel with good pool"
Were pleased to see that the family room had a microwave and toaster but disppointed that only one of the louvres had a flyscreen and the light was so weak we needed a torch to read by. Pool is a good length and position is a good 10 minute walk from the town but noisy as it is on the main road. If you want to walk at night take a torch for some of […] the unpaved path. "A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED..."
EXTREMELY FRIENDLY STAFF, ALWAYS WILLING TO HELP, GREAT DRINKS AT THE BAR. THE VIEW FROM THE POOL WAS AMAZING, THE HIGHLIGHT REALLY. GREAT LOCATION TOO, WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING DOWNTOWN. HOWEVER... I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE STANDARDS OF ACCOMMODATION IN VANUATU, BUT IN SYDNEY THE CONDITION OF TOWELS AND LINEN PRESENTED IN THE ROOM WOULD HAVE […] BEEN UNACCEPTABLE, THERE WAS NEVER ONE SINGLE PIECE THAT WAS CRISP WHITE CLEAN; THEY HAD STAINS, LOOKED MORE LIKE RAGS, WERE YELLOW-GREYISH, OLD...ONLY REALLY USED IT BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE MY OWN IN MY SUITCASE. AND ALSO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GET SICK DURING YOUR TRIP LIKE ME, BECAUSE THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN THE ROOM, YOUR TV HAS ONE CHANNEL ONLY THAT WORKS "HALF-STATIC", STILL ON ANALOG SIGNAL. "Moorings hotel - great location and staff"
This hotel is very central to Port Vila. The staff were excellent. They even personally took me to the pharmacy when I became unwell. They knew all the details of the various tours so were able to suggest the best value tours and make all of the arrangements. The room and facilities were exactly as they appreared on the internet so there were no hidden […] surprises. All facilities were very clean. "Amazing views, clean rooms"
We spent 2 nights in a Harbour front Queen room with it's own private deck right on the harbour. Although the rooms are a little small, the deck offers a lovely place to sit and take in the spectacular view of the harbour, or watch the sun set. We chose the Moorings for the first couple of nights of our stay so that we could be within walking distance […] of town to do some shopping, change money and eat out a few times before heading out of town. It's a nice stroll along the harbour front into town taking only a few minutes. The rooms had everything that we wanted, A/C, bar fridge and breakfast included. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had good pressure and lots of hot water. The continental breakfast included cereals and breads, tea and coffee, juice and pancakes. It was all that we needed to start the day. The pool was very clean and a welcoming place to cool off after a walk into town. "Disappointing"
The Moorings Hotel is more like an expensive Backpackers. The music coming from the bar and the nightclub attached can be heard from your room until the early hours of the morning. "Would not stay again"
The staff was ok but the entire place needs to be updated and cleaned. The towels in my bathroom were filthy and the bed sheets were worse. The little sleep I had was on top of some pool towels which were cleaner than those in my bathroom. The noise from night club out front made it impossible to sleep and I am NOT a light sleeper by any means. I challenge […] anyone to try to sleep through the screaming, sirens etc. The final deal breaker for me was the couple that told me they had to change rooms due to bed bug infestation. "Moorings - like an upscale youth hostel"
I was not terribly impressed with our stay at Moorings. The density and proximity of rooms, combined with almost non-existent soundproofing made for a noisy and uncomfortable stay. The room we stayed in was small and cramped and didn't even have bedside lamps. The insect screens on the windows were torn with massive holes and there was no mosquito net, […] which is a serious problem in a place with malaria mosquitoes! If you are young and looking to meet other travellers, this may be a good place to stay, there is a decent bar and there seem to be a lot of younger people staying here. If you're with a family or looking for a quiet place to sleep, find somewhere else! Also, the restaurant is expensive and not that great compared to other establishments in the immediate area. "A delightful surprise"
I made the booking at the Moorings at last minute and was really impressed by the quality of the hotel service and its location. the room i stayed in is really stylish and quiet, with a lovely veranda at the back. the hotel pool is awesome although the beach is literally at the door step of your hotel room. The location is great too, as it is not too […] close to the town centre therefore you get to enjoy the quietness you want on a holiday. all in all, an unexpected highlight of my vanuatu trip. "Moorings Hotel - ok"
The main benefit of Moorings is it is close to the town centre, but not in the town centre itself, so the surroundings are a little more quiet than being right in the centre...not that Port Vila is the busiest place on earth! We booked a harbourside room. It was spacious and clean, but nothing special. About what you'd expect from a mir-range hotel. […] Although the wooden doors that opened onto the harbourside did let some water in during a heavy thunderstorm. So if you stay here, don't keep any stuff right next to these doors!!! We knew beforehand that the hotel contained a nightclub and would not be that quiet - and it wasn't. Pool was a decent size and ideal for kids. The food was nothing to write home about - try to eat in town if you can. In fact, I'd recommend eating in the market. It looks dirty...but the food is awesome and so is the atmosphere - plus you'll probably be the only tourists in there :) Anyway, back to Moorings...the staff were very friendly and helpful. Great hotel, amazing views, we stayed in a harbour view room and woke up the the sunrise over the harbour it was stunning!! Rooms were clean and were cleaned daily. The hotel resurant was very well priced & food presentation was great. Staff were so friendly & helpful. They recommended tours & activites. Me & my fiance did a tour of the whole island, […] we did Zorbing (masssive big blow up balls your sit it and roll down the hill) it was so fun!! Helicopter ride is a must!! The colour of the water of the other islands is beautiful! We have never ever seen anything like it! We did a beach horse ride, this was great however we did not realize it went for 4 hours! We couldnt walk the next day... very sore! We did a sunset cruise, very relaxing. Shopping was good, very cheap DVDs that are still in theatre here in Australia. The staff at Moorings were very friendly and helpful whenever we required it, whether it was too book a day tour or get directions they were always ready to assist. The restaurant and poolside bar were also great. The negatives were the room size, it was smaller than i had expected. No in room safe or storage cupboards. Hot water was very touchy, hard […] to get the right temperature. Queen size bed actually two single beds held together by the fitted sheet. "Having good sunset scenery"
