Very relaxing stay, room beautifully prepared and ready for us. Great view of river and location handy to local restaurants.

The hotel was extremely convenient and was found to be well presented on arrival. reception staff very polite and helpful. amenities including the pool and gym were free to use if required. this hotel also benefits from a free private carpark which was also very convenient. i would highly recommend.

The hotel is situated within walking distance to shops bars and resturants. The hotel is comfortable but due to location it can be noisey at night, we stayed 2 nights and on both nights we were woken by people arguing on the main road and police arriving on the 2nd night. I would reccomend booking the river facing rooms as we were overlooking the front. […] The breakfast is good valve and even provided soya milk as requested. This hotel was a delightful surprise to find in Kendal. A true riverside location (the river touches the walls of the hotel) with clean, well-appointed rooms, and only five minutes walk from the train station. A very nice breakfast room overlooking the river serves a full English breakfast served buffet style. A gentle ten minute walk takes you to the […] centre of town over one of two bridges. Kendal is full of history and good shopping, and the gateway to the Lake District. A question to the hotel after my stay about a possible item left behind was followed up in a polite and prompt manner as well, which was appreciated. Stayed here for a couple of nights whilst enjoying the sights of the Lake District. The hotel staff were welcoming and the facilities were well managed, including the health club and swimming pool. The room was really clean and tidy (the biscuits were really nice!) The breakfast helped maintain us through some long walks!! Excellent position , good car parking but remember to get token from reception to get car out. Very good service in restaurant and no faults with food.Reception was told twice that there was no folder in room with hotel instructions etc., made no difference still haven't seen it. We used this hotel as a stop over returning to Essex from Scotland, i chose it as it had good facilities and was a good rate. Couldn't find it at first, the sat nav sent us to an industrial site, but the hotel is the other end of the road, it's just a one way street. Has it's own car park next door, just remember a token when you leave.... Used the […] pool, spa and steam room before eating in the bar, great facilitiesfollowed by good food. I only booked the hotel for a single night and wish I had been able to stay longer. Rooms were extremely well decorated and appointed with all of the usual facilities. The location is very nice, situated directly on the river and the complementary breakfast was top notch. I found the hotel offered very good accomodation with spacious bedroom and comfortable beds. Located quite centrally the hotel was convenient for Kendal shopping and tourist attractions. My only complaint was that the restaurant was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. My other complaint is that the information supplied by Booking site was […] not accurate. On first enquiring I was told the hotel did not do English breakfast while other sites said this was not correct. Also on receiving E mail confirmation from yourselves it stated I had not booked breakfast when in fact I had. A long telephone conversation later you apologised and said this had been rectified. Overall very good but a mix up with other guests initially put us with them and their prebooked dinner The manageress sorted the problem and supplied us with a bottle of wine for our inconvenience. Thank her for the thought ! Ivor Y.

The main problem with the hotel seemed to be under-staffing. It was chronic at times with the same person trying to cover the reception area and the bar. Standing around waiting for service seemed to be the norm in this hotel. Our rooms were not ready when we arrived, and the next day were not cleaned and made-up until very late in the day (we'd returned […] for an afternoon rest at 3:30 but found they hadn't been sorted yet, thus making relaxation a problem). The rooms though were pretty good; criticisms being that one had two single mattresses pushed together to form a 'double' - which in practice doesn't work as there's a ridge in the middle of the bed! In the same room the towel radiator was always on with no way to turn it off, making the room quite stuffy. Additionally a more powerful vacuum cleaner would've helped remove some of the dust on the carpet. That aside, they were generally pleasant rooms with nice bathrooms. There wasn't a visible menu for the restaurant anywhere and we weren't it existed other than being told to book at reception if we wanted to go. No idea about that sadly. The breakfast was ok in the mornings, though limited in choice and the pastries on the Sunday tasted far from fresh. Something quite odd: there's a giant widescreen tv in reception facing out to the general public which is a live video feed of the swimming pool. This put all of our party off going in the pool - being beamed into a hotel lobby in our swimwear just didn't appeal at all!! Very strange, and disappointing to those wanting to swim in our group! It was an ok hotel, but on the pricey side for what it was. It could've been so much improved with better staffing levels. As it was, it felt a bit like we were being short-changed, handing over plenty of money for very little service. It seemed a shame for the staff there too, they seemed to recognise how thinly spread they were - I hope people direct their frustration on the management rather than the staff. Läs mer

The price for the night is worth it to the last penny: room is big and comfortable, parking is under the roof, buffet breakfast is delicious with hugh choice of healthy and not very (english heart-attack) food. I was really suprised to find out that sauna with pool and fitness centre were included in the price as well. The only small thing - I could […] not use their free wi-fi internet - the signal was very low , even in the lobby. Despite proximity to the centre it was very quiet during the night. A first-rate hotel with pool and work-out center, as well as an excellent buffet breakfast. Within walking distance, almost sight of the rail and bus staions, the place is a find, especially in this part of England.

excellent view out the window - river. Not as small as expected. Facilities were nice and clean and not over crowded. :)

Last night travelling back home after a tour of Scotland, all rooms look over the river, room and breakfast v. good and added bonus of Spa v. good value.

I chose this hotel last year at random for a stopover en route south from the Highlands and was sufficiently impressed to want to come back to have this as a base fror a couple of nights in the Lake District. The rooms are extremely comfortable, the staff very friendly and the breakfast pretty good (one minor criticism - the bacon was slightly over […] done!) The location is ideal for a run along the banks of the Kent and then you can come back for a session in the gym and the very pleasant pool/sauna. It is also well placed for touring the Lake District which has one main drawback - the constantly changing and totally confusing speed limits on the roads!! Läs mer

Although it is not the best hotel that we have stayed in, it is by no stretch of the imagination the worst. It is basic, but very well located. We have returned 4 times to the same hotel, and will do again.

accueil tres bon. disposition du personnel bien. repas du soir trop cher ( 22E/P) superbe spa..... la salle de bain pourrait etre nettoyée tous les jours...( domage). on y est resté 3 jours. j'y retournerai, meme si c'est un peu cher. 7 sur 10
