Ett bra hotell närma till en massa turistattraktioner som förbjudna staden och himmelskafridenstorg. Det finns ett litet café som heter Alley's ett par meter från hotellet där de serverar riktig frukost och fina pannkakor. Hotellet ligger på en bakgata som ger Kinaresan det lilla extra, känns att man faktiskt är i Kina och inte bara i en modern storstad. […] Området är säkert även på kvällen/natten och taxi kostar inget extra att beställa från receptionen vilket är perfekt när man har en tid att passa. Sha Tan är ett ställe som ligger bra och i ett bra kvarter med flera småbutiker där ni kan handla frukt, dryck och annat, det lönar sig att gå runt lite i kvarteret och tittat finns ett trevligt kafe som heter Alleys, och det ligger nära Jingshan Park som är en underbar park med sång, dans och annat. Rent hotell i genuint och lugnt kvarter. Personalen var vänlig och var relativt bra på engelska. Många sevärdheter inom 30 minuters gångväg. Frukosten kan intas på hotellet till extra kostnad. Mer prisvärt att äta frukost på restaurang tvärs över gatan.

Ganska svårt att hitta till hotellet första gången (även för taxichauffören) - så hotellets adress på kinesiska är jätteviktigt! Inte så enkelt att kommunicera på engelska med personalen i receptionen, men de gjorde så gott de kunde! Som helhet är det ett bra hotell, genuin närmiljö och nära till allt!

Detta var min andra gång på Sha Tan hotell, bodde där även då jag reste till Beijing för tre år sedan. Hotellet var lika bra som jag mindes det, varje gång man kommer tillbaka till rummet känns det som att komma hem. Rummen är mycket fräscha, sängarna sköna, personalen trevlig (även om engelskkunskaperna är sisådär). Läget är optimalt, nära stadskärnan […] men ändå hyfsat lugnt, och de kringliggande gatorna är kul att promenera kring på. bra hotell, nära många sevärdheter till bra pris. Hotellpersonalen trevlig men dålig engelska. dom försöker så gott de kan. Minus att betala för internet med dålig kinesisk textning.

Vi bodde på hotellet i 5 nätter och vi trivdes jättebra. Vi hade valt ett rum med fönster, men detta vette mot ett nedsluttande tak med plastgräs på så vi blev lite besvikna över detta. Annars var standarden på rummet jättebra, stor skön säng och ett rent och fräscht badrum. Det finns en tjej i receptionen som pratar bra engelska, de andra är väldigt […] dåliga på engelska. Dock är alla i personalen väldigt hjälpsamma och dom tar sig tid till att försöka hjälpa till trots språkbarriären. Hotellet ligger på en liten bakgata med lite små kinesiska matställen. Det finns även gott och små livsmedelsbutiker i närheten av hotellet. Det finns även ett mysigt fik nere på hörnet av gatan där man kan få en god kopp kaffe och pannkakor på morgonen. We enjoyed the room very much, nice bed and pillows, nice light and a clean and fresh bathroom. Staff was helpful and the English was good. What was a bit bothersome is that the area around is not very interesting. Not many restaurants to stroll around between and even though close to the forbidden city there is no entry from the back so still there […] is a 15 min walk. Also there is a rather long walk to get to the closest subway station, but on the other hand taxi is cheap so that depends on the preference. In other words, the location is maybe not the best. Overall a very nice hotel for the person who wants to relax and take it easy. For a busy sight-seeing visit maybe a better locations could be preferred. Läs mer

The hotel is verry nice, especially thinking of what it cost to live there. The hotel is located in backstreet just at the east entrance of the Jingshan park. The rooms were well cleaned as so were the bathrooms (probably resently renovated). The only bad thing is that there are no sub nearby just tianmen east station, and sometimes it's not the easy […] to get a cab. But due to the low rate for cabs it's not a huge issue. Läs mer

Sha Tan är ett synnerligen prisvärt hotell som ligger mycket nära den Förbjudna Staden i Beijing (5-10 min promenad till nordporten) och alldeles bredvid Jingshan park, en park som alla turister inte bekymrar sig med att besöka men som rymmer en del intressant historia men som, framförallt, ger en insyn i samtida Kinesers liv, i synnerhet under söndagar […] då de umgås tillsammans i parken. Också relativt nära, Beijing är ändå mycket utbredd stad, till många bra restauranger som ligger på mindre än 10 min avstånd med taxi. Kafét nere på gatan är också mycket trevligt för en frukost. Det finns mycket bra kunskaper i Engelska hos delar av personalen och alltid någon i receptionen man kan be om hjälp och de kan hjälpa en med att arrangera utflykter till sevärdheter. Särskilt rekommenderar jag att be dem arrangera en tur till Huanghua, en mindre restaurerad del av muren som är mer eller mindre folktom (kanske beroende på att det officiellt är förbjudet att bestiga den, något som dock inte hindrar lokalbefolkningen från att ta betalt för sina stigar upp till muren, 2 RMB per person, helt okej) och mycket häftigare än Badaling. 600 RMB fick vi betala för en taxi som var med oss i 6 h. The hotel is located close to the good old feeling of Beijing and China. If you walk around in the area of the hotel you can find, fish & meat dealers, a good old supermarket where you can buy anything you need.

Litet, trevligt hotell som erbjuder allt man behöver som turist. Rummet hade bekväma sängar, var rent och i gott skick. Kanske inte riktigt levde upp till bilderna på nätet, men vi spenderade ändå inte mycket tid på rummet. Väldigt nära Förbjudna staden och Jingshan Park. 20 minuters promenad till massor av shopping på Wangfujing Road. Området närmast […] hotellet var smala gator och gränder med låga bostadshus av lägre standard. Vi tyckte bara det var intressant att få se de stora klyftor som finns i dagens Kina och en liten inblick i vardagen för många kineser. Engelsktalande personal i receptionen. Fick hjälp att hyra en taxi för en dagstur till kinesiska muren och det var verkligen ett mycket bra errengemang hotellet ordnade. Rekommenderar detta hotell varmt. Läs mer

Cosy Hotel, close to the Jing Shan park. This is a tourist area, wich makes it impossible to get a taxi. The Hotel have no transport service, so be prepared to get trouble when you will depart. The restaurant is not good at all, they have a western meny, but no chef that can prepare the food. Jättemysigt hotell med mkt bra och hjälpsam personal. Rummen var jättefina och städningen var toppen. Vi bodde i ett rum utan fönster, men det var aldrig så att vi saknade något heller. Litet minus för att det var så lyhört ut mot korridoren. Jättenära till förbjudna staden och närliggande park. Tyvärr lite långt att gå till tunnelbanan men man kan […] ju åka taxi.. Vi fIck ett större rum och det var ju väldigt positivt, dock luktade det lite från avloppet när vi kom in men de fixade det direkt och sen kände vi inget alls under veckan som gick. Hotellet ligger väldigt nära allting och billigt att ta taxi till allt man vill se. Gångavstånd till Forbidden City och parker runtomkring. Helt ok hotell, på gränsen till […] en 4:a. Nära till sevärdigheter

Nästa gång vi åker till Beijing, bor vi med all säkerhet här igen. Man kan inte bo mer centralt med charmen av ett lite mindre hotell med standard av Hilton. Enda minuset är frukosten som inte var så god, men det var likadant i hela Kina. Vi bodde här 1 vecka i juni -09. Ska ni till Beijing så är detta hotellet för er. Superservice, rent och frächt

Bra, prisvärt hotell som ligger nära förbjudna staden, hutonger, bra restauranter och fina parker. Skulle gärna bo här igen om jag åker tillbaka till Peking. Enda nackdelen är att det är ganska långt till tunnelbanan, men det var lätt att hitta dit och om man inte orkar gå är det billigt med taxi. Serivicen var kanon, dem var mer än villiga att hjälpa till med allt! Hela personalen var trevliga och snälla. Väldigt rent hotell, känns nästan lyxigt när man kommer in i rummen med fönster, dem har tänkt på detaljerna. Bra läge, det tar ca 7 minuter att gå till den förbjudna staden. Enda nackdelen är att hotellet ligger en bit bort från tunnelbanan, […] men samtidigt är det tokbilligt med taxi i Beijing. The staff at Sha Tan hotel is exceptional. I had no trouble adjusting my reservations and tours by phone in advance and even received a personal note from the day staff when I arrived late. I didn't have any meals so I can't comment on that, it is difficult for Taxis to find but I usually stay in that area so I anticipated that. If you aren't familiar […] with the area you might want to request that the hotel send you instructions on how to reach their location from the North end of the Forbidden City in Chinese so the taxi driver can read them. The pillow top mattresses were an amazing change from the usual hotel beds in China, my only complaint about the hotel is that they can't do foreign exchange but the nearby ICBC can take care of that. Along the main road that crosses the North gate of the Forbidden City (walk the opposite direction) you'll find a string of art supply stores, a great art museum and a little shop with fantastic wool and other yarns to bring home for your knitting friends. Stay was as expected, it’s a cheap hotel, in a less than nice neighbourhood but it works, the people know me now because I have stayed here before. I like the beds and the rooms are good and it’s quiet. No frills no extra service just plain old fashion cheap and nice.

The hotel room was smaller then the pictures indicated. It lacked drawer space. The room was hot, but no was to cool it with the remote temp control.I was told the temp control system wasn't working and since it was April the air conditioning wasn't turned on. The hotel location is excllent. It is next to Jingshan Park,. A few minutes walk bring you to plenty of food outlets and convenience stores.

The air condition was bad. either too hot or too cold. I could not adjust the temperature. Toilet flooded the second day.

The pictures on the website are misleading and make the rooms look more luxurious than they are. The rooms are MUCH smaller in person and are by no means luxurious. When I complained, the manager of the hotel admitted that the photos are taken from "angles" to make the rooms look bigger. The showerhead was not working properly and needed to be cleaned. […] The hotel staff attempted to accomodate us by relocating us to another room, but not without arguing and giving us attitude first. The restaurant was never open, so we always had to make sure we ate before returning to the hotel for the evening. The hotel was standard at best. Clean hotel rooms. Pleasant staff but limited English. Hotel situated a bit out of the way. Suitable if you just want to go there to sleep. Not much in the way of restaurant or bar.

In a convenient location, not far from Tian'anmen Square, opposite Jinshan park. Handy cafes and restaurants nearby. The staff were most friendly and helpful, and the room was immaculate and comfortable. Couldn't fault it!

NIce hotel for the price its a budget place if you dont speak Chinese its a struggle to talk to them but if you are on a budget and want just waht you pay for then i would stay again the neibour hood is bad but look beyound that and get to the good places and you will be alright

This was a great find for an extremely clean but cheap hotel. When checking in the two ladies at the front desk spoke great English (on checking out - not as much). The furniture in the rooms was just as nice looking as the pictures and the walls and carpet was nice and clean. Clean bathroom and everything you need. I even booked the 2 single bedroom […] with no window and had no problems. My parents were traveling with me and the as well loved it and felt like they were given the deal of a lifetime. The only problem was when we booked a tour to the great wall and Ming tombs. In the end we got everything we paid for but it took a full out yelling match in the car, threating to call the police. The whole tour, from the beginning, the driver and the tour guide was trying to change what we bought back at the hotel tour office. We actually had to drive back to the hotel to settle the matter. However an hour later, they were at it again. I was able to call the hotel and they were translating for me. The guides didn't want to pay for our lunch as promised, entrence fees, nor entrance we paid for at the great wall(they wanted to only take us to the closest one - not the better one included in the package we bought). Again in the end and with force we got everything we paid for but it was not pleasant. I would not blame this on the hotel but would wish they had a more secure tour office in their hotel. I say all this just to be aware and recap everything you paid for before leaving. With that said the night before we did a kong fu show and tickets at hotel were same as at the box office. Great location just minutes from the forbidden city. A Staff spoke english well. Bathroom smelled a bit when we got there but stopped once we ran the water for a short time. Definitely a good central place to explore beijing from.

First of all, this is not for anyone looking for LUXURIOUS 5-star accomadations. This is a nice hotel located in a bustling alley, close (5 min. walk)to the Forbidden City. Room was small (by U.S. standards, equal to European rooms) but very clean. Although staff was not fluent in English, they were VERY helpful & did their best to meet all of our needs […] (help w/ cabs, subway, shopping, tourism, etc...). Although hotel policy is to charge for internet usage, we were allowed to use the internet in the business center for free, NUMEROUS times because we only needed to check e-mail (5 mins. or less). It is a well maintained hotel, not 5 starts but good to have a breakfast, spend the day in the city and go back for sleeping. The street is full with small "shops" and people so it is quite shocking at the first time. But you will see the real China there. It is walking distance from the main important points. This hotel is an interesting place to stay. It is convenient to the Forbidden City, The Silk Market, and the hutongs. The lobby looks decent, the rooms are clean. There was some reconstruction going on on the steps when we were there. The problem is the street. There are lots of storefronts and street merchants that line this tiny little street. For […] anyone looking for an authentic Chinese breakfast and experience, its not bad. But to some westerners it would look scary. Plus, because it is so tucked away and the street hard to navigate, some cabbies would not bring us back to the hotel. But I would recommend it to anyone who wants to be close by the major attractions of Beijing and can accept the bustling street out front. i booked 3 twins rooms without windows for our group and we stayed for 4 nights. the rooms was clean and of a reasonable size and the service was very good. The only problems we had was with the location of the hotel as we had to take a few cabs to the hotel from the airport and not one of the cabbies knew where the location of the hotel was even when […] i gave them the printed address! The hotel is situated in a small back street, its was close to a few tourist sites but it was trouble trying to get any type of transport from out the hotel. I reccomend anyone who is thinking about booking this hotel to get a room with windows as it can get very very stuffy. Dinning is not a problem as the back street that the hotel is on has many small restuarants. Dont be fooled by the map as it shows that the hotel is situated right behind the forbidden palace, when we walked there which took around 5 mins we was told it was the exit and the rear of the palace and to get to the entrance was a very very long walk. Great local street "color". Nice room in November....No A/C required so not sure if good service or not in the heat of the summer. Good English front desk personnel. Tour office in the hotel was nce.
