"Clean and nice"
Clean and nice. Might be a mile away from the city center, but Carlsbad is so small we didn't care. The guy at the reception desk recommended a steak house that really was superb. We do recommend this hotel, and will come here again when visiting the caverns.Verifierad gästrecension

Very good breakfast with good selection. grandson had trouble hooking up xbox and hotel clerk sent her husband up to help. Couldn't have ask for more polite help from any of workers: front desk, maids, ladies fixing food. etc. The only complaint I have WAS THE NOISE. SOMEONE IN THE ROOM ABOVE US. ( A CHILD I ASSUME WAS JUMPING ON THE FLOOR AND THIS […] WENT ON FOR SEVERAL HOURS IT STOPPED FOR AN HOUR THEN RESUMED FOR SEVERAL MORE HOURS. WHEN I CALLED THE FRONT DESK AND ASK IF THEY COULD CHECK ON THE CHILDREN IN THE ROOM THEY SAID THE HOTEL WAS FULL OF KIDS. I TOLD THEM IT WAS ROOM 304. Disappointed in the check in process, staff came across inexperienced, vague on place to eat and incorrect info on how long we should plan on getting to cavern (more than 40 minutes!) Pool extremely small amd cloudy, hot tub maxium of ONLY 2 people, rediculous for a hotel with 100s of guests, did not use either because it was crowded as well. "A little far out of town."

"Nice hotel along the way"

Our rooms were clean and comfortable. The rooms had 2 Queen beds, LCD TV, Fridge, Microwave, Iron. Breakfast was decent but time was only from 6-9 AM. Checkout out time is 11 AM. The hotel was good and the staff were fine (we didn't really have much to do with them apart from at check-in). We were visiting the Carlsbad Caverns and the hotel was at the wrong end of town for the Caverns, most of the restaurants and food shops - there were some fast food outlets nearby (MacDonalds, Subway etc). Most restaurants seem to close on […] Sundays so if that's when you're in Carlsbad you may have to make do with a Domino's delivery or a hamburger etc from one of the chains. This was a beautiful Holiday Inn Express. We used almost all of their fascilities ( gym, laundry room, pool) and we were happy with all of it. The employees at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. We had asked them to recommend a local restraunt, and we were also very please with their choice. The hotel was very clean, and that is very important to me. I also appreciated the level of security that the hotal maintained for entrance to the building. "Holiday Inn Express in Carslbad, NM"
Newer motel and highest-priced in the area. Despite the price, we opted for it mostly because it was relatively new (we'd seen some negative reviews of older places in the area) and because of the hot breakfast that was included. Breakfast was sub-par. While not serving all options every day, they had neither scrambled eggs nor bacon. They had a "cheese" […] omelet that was mediocre, and sausage patties. I was led to believe there would be more variety. They also had the usual cereals, oatmeal and breads, plus an average cinnamon roll that they were touting. The room was fine, beds and pillows were good, bathroom clean and up-to-date. Only complaint is that the bedroom white walls were dirty, probably from customers putting their luggage up against them. For the price, the walls should have been cleaner. We didn't stay long enough to take advantage of more of the amenities (pool, gym, business center). If you're staying there to go to the Caverns, be forewarned that it is on the North end of town and further away than nearly all of the other chain motels, which are on the South end of town and therefore closer to the Park. "Somewhat disappointed"
On a road trip with my son, we deliberately chose this hotel from earlier reviews on this site, as we wanted a restful night in a comfortable place. Although at far end of town from Caverns, the hotel seemed full and we were given a room, which we later found to be next to a storeroom & external exit. Both had sprung doors closing loudly in the early […] morning. Also had heavy footsteps from above. Room was large, & bed and bathroom were clean and comfy, as would be expected in a new-ish hotel. Couple of staff-related disappoinments: 1. At check-in we were told that the Business Centre was closed, but wi-fi in rooms worked. After two further visits back to reception for help, I challenged the check-in lady, who eventually conceded that internet had been down for several days. I asked why I was told the opposite at check-in, and had been allowed to waste 1h+ trying to connect, and she didn't/wouldn't answer. Asked the same question of manager in the morning - he didn't/wouldn't answer either, and seemed put out that I should dare to ask. Bizarre! 2. Despite it being a pre-paid booking, they ran an additional room charge to my card, which meant another wasted hour resolving a refund a few days later, when I luckily spotted it. This was priced at the top end of Carlsbad hotels, and for what was paid, I'd have expected much better.
