Hotell Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort - Calangute

Först bodde jag och min väninna i en beach hut. På nätterna kröp och krafsade det i väggarna, det luktade lite mögel i badrummet, det var väldigt mörkt i strandhyddan på kvällarna + att ac:n inte alltid fungerade. Är dock väldigt mysigt att sitta på sin egen terass på strandstugan och dessa hyddor är placerade väldigt vackert bland bananträd och blommor […] så har man inte så höga krav fungerar det bra att bo där. Vi bytte efter 4 dagar till executive room som låg bredvid poolen. Rummet var väl utrustat och vi trivdes väldigt bra. Dock väcktes vi vid sju om morgnarna av andra gäster som plaskade och förde oväsen i poolen. En kväll när vi var på väg till vårt rum vid poolen mötte vi en råtta stor som en katt. Personalen bara skrattade. Personalen var överlag väldigt glada men receptionisterna var under all kritik. Estrela do Mar är överlag ett mysigt ställe (beror mycket på om man bor i Beach hut eller i själva hotellbyggnaden då standarden på olika rum varierar mycket) trots ovanstående negativa punkter. Bra läge på hotellet var väl det ända som var bra... Rumman var det mögel på väggarna och så fuktigt att väskorna började visa mögel efter bara fyra dagar...Skitigt och smutsigt runt pool och terass...

Bra läge vid Calangute stranden och en hyfsad pool. Men frukosten var en continental med te/kaffe toast,marmeland,smör omelett ! goda! och ibland juice. Däremot en indisk buffé frukost ! Bra hotel med tanke på priset (vid lågsessong). Det enda som inte bra var frukosten som var dålig, men åter igen med tanke på priset så var den acceptabel.

Instead of trying hard to be helpful or at least appear so, these guys just argued back and forth with guests even in front of new guests checking in. Available wireless is only limited at the reception with INR100 charge.. The location is right.., right on the beach.

The hotel room was comfortable though it lacked a table or something where you could put your belongings. Since it was right at the beach, it was a perfect spot to be from where you could enjoy the sun and the sea at the same time.

I think the hotel has made a good effort and has managed to meet some of our expectations which i would say if a pat on the back for EDM.

staff was super sweet, smiley, helpful and happy gang. location near beach, safe and quiet (dogs were parking tho at nights) restaurant was good, naan bread baked daily and also entertainment of local musicians every break fast and dinner. great stay, good busy location, even there are nice beaches available

We were disappointed at the dinner place, because the floor was not tilled or cemented, or any other tyoe of florring. Breakfast place was also the same, long walk, very sandy, breakfast table cloths were never changed, seats not ment for breakfast, very uncomfortable, to enjoy ones first meal of the day?

Overall it was a nice experience staying in this resort even though there were few hickups.

They was not allowing us to check in before 2PM even some of the guest had already checked out ,you can see there check out time is 11 AM even in 2 PM room was not clean ,we were wating till 1 hr so overall that day got waste without doing anything ,Pls specify these problem when somebody else booked same hotel ...that will be the ture meaning of your […] review . Nothing can beat the location..bang on baga beach..if possible go for the individual cottages...overall service was satisfactory.

Room was as shown in the photographs, may be a shade better, location is very good, ambience was nice, food was good and reasonably prices, overall a good experience

Hi. Me and my wife stayed here in 2nd week of Oct 2011.I booked Executive room. The room was full of suffocation with very small balcony(you can only stand) and with renovation going on, it was full of dust and noise from 9am till 11pm. The blanket was stinking badly with slow water supply in bathroom. The laundry charges are too high and the girls […] at reception are least bother for your any query. The only good thing here was Food(nominal charges) and service at their eating galary. The sea is 2min walking from hotel. Overall, the location and food is good but the purpose of going for a peaceful vacation was not satisfied. Läs mer

Hotel.com rated this property very well but the reality was from what was promised... it was like a normal lodge and room quality pathetic for the cost paid... next to cemetary, bad food and bad room added to the woes. I have booked this hotel from internet. and after arriving there they upgrade me in deluxe room.. the room was really great and clean. i liked it..............

i would personally suggest dont ever stay in these hotel there is no cleanliness. the room were ok still all over the hotels is not at all satisfactory

Not clean in the breakfast tent flies allover flying, not comfortable no good service.

Me and my girlfriend had booked 4 nights at the Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort, and ended up with only staying 2 nights and just had to leave 'cause the place was driving both of us crazy. I have been travelling all over the world (Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Egypt, Australia, USVI, all of Europe, USA, Nepal, India, etc.) and has never been this disappointed […] with a place i've booked on hotels.com. The photos must be heavily photoshopped, 'caused the placed didn't look anything like we'd seen online on hotels.com in the photos before booking. Really bad air in the room, mold on the walls, no wifi or internet as promised, fly's EVERYWHERE, disgusting breakfast menu and area, showerhead wasn't working in our room and couldn't be fixed, television didn't work and couldn't be fixed, no toiletpaper when we arrived, etc. We left as fast as we were able to and now staying at a 4 star hotel further south in Goa - and we pay less pr. night here then at Estrela Do Mar!!! I cannot underline enough that you should never go to Estrela Do Mar Beach Resort. You will be very dissapointed! Läs mer

we stayed for two nights with family but the maintainance is not good for service food other wise all we enjoyed thankq

The hotel itself was located in Calangute, within walking distance to the beach. The beach however, is not that pleasant (for females) and we took a long taxi ride to other, less populated beaches. The rooms were cleaned daily and were of a good standard. Our room was by the pool which meant we had to have the curtains closed all the time. TV reception […] wasn't great. Breakfast was good with a nice range of food to choose from. I would not recommend to stay at this hotel due to the poor service by the reception staff. One girl in particular was very rude and unhelpful. The staff were unable to give change when we bought something from the bar, could not give us information about taxi prices (conveniently they recommend using their taxi service out the front of the hotel but they are a complete rip off - walk up to the main road to find someone who will take you for a third of the price!). Also, the laundry service was expensive and took more than 2 days for them to return (after inquiring where our stuff was more than twice). Läs mer

NICE HOTEL CONVIENENT BUT NEEDS TO REVAMP RECEPTION STAFF AND NOT GIVE AWAY BOOKINGS

While the off season price was very cheap, it really wasn't much of a deal considering the shabby state of the property. There is much noisy renovation going on but it looks like poor quality patch ups so I doubt if it will improve the place much. Breakfast was mediocre.

Unfortunately I have to say that this place is undeserving of a hotels.com "top picks" status (and I'm not a particularly picky person -- I book and review very frequently w hotels.com and with near certainty I positively recommend my stays -- so this is unusual for me to say). PROS: location is good, between Calangute and Baga beaches in North Goa […] (unfortunately a lot of the shacks were not operational yet on the beach when we went). About an hour from the airport, and more than 2 hours from the exponentially better beaches in South Goa like Palolem. Food was great. Restaurant is cheap with tons of variety, and the wait staff is very nice. Breakfast buffet is filling and tasty. CONS: Room is no frills - moderately clean but with a strong mildewy smell. the front desk staff is at best incompetent and at worst crooks who get commissions off certain tours/taxis. They really really push the hotel taxis out front that cost at least 50% more than any other taxi you can get on the street. We asked about a tour to Dudhsagar Falls, a major attraction in Goa, and one receptionist told me to wait for the manager, who allegedly sold tours to the Falls. After I waited for an hour she said he wasn't coming, and then she called one of her friends' companies and quoted me a price that was more than double of that on a brochure I grabbed at the airport. When I asked her about that, she called the number on the brochure and claimed that the company couldn't take us tomorrow without 10 guests -- which was an outright lie since I then walked over to the very company and they said no such thing and booked us. One of the receptionists promised me 4 times that she would look into airport dropoff following a tour and just pretended that she had forgotten. The "business center" was "closed" 5 out of 6 times we asked to use it (the one time we did get in we discovered it was a narrow alley with lockers and one computer for guest use. The resort was undergoing renovations when my friend and I came, so the outside is not as nice. Either way - it's no resort, just a basic hotel. The rooms were okay - large enough, and the bathroom was fine as well. It sucks that you can't make calls from the bedroom though - you have to go all the way to the security desk to use the pay phone. Breakfast […] was pretty nice, though the toast is like bricks. The beach was directly behind the hotel, but it was dirty and not the best place to relax. There are some pretty good restaurants not too far away, which was pretty good. Jeg har reist mye og har sett mange hoteller i forskjellige prisklasser. Dette hotellet skal man uansett krav styre unna. Bildene stemmer ikke med virkeligheten, kakkelakker, rotter og mus er det mange av. Betjeningen stjeler fra kundene. Leker til barna til en svensk familie ble stjålet fra rommet. En pris på menyene, betjeningen krever andre priser. […] Betjeningen kom ikke tilbake med vekslepenger. Resepsjonspersonalet er ubeskrivelig ubehagelige. The access road to the hotel goes through a dumpsite. The ground floor rooms are damp and smelly from fungus and almost without sunlight. Behind the hotel lays a bare, garbage sprayed area, occupied by stray dogs and tarpaulin huts. Although far away from the main Calangute road, it says something about the noise surrounding the hotel that earplugs […] is offered in bulk from a large box. We stayed here for a week in January and we can't complain. The location was perfect - close to both Baga and Calangute and in walking distance from everything. Staff was friendly and the rooms were nice and clean. I would deffinately consider staying here again if I end up in Goa someday!

Der Service war sehr gut und hilfsbereit. Die Sauberkeit war gut; sie habe es probiert immer sauber zu halten. Gutes Frühstück! Gute Galaessen am Sylvester!

Chambres sales, travaux en cours, piscine sale, service minable, petit déjeuner très moyen de 7H30 à 9H30, nourriture passable

Vi hadde forhåndspetalt for tre uker. Vi orket ikke tanken på å være mer enn en natt og sjekket ut. Ledelsen nektet å gi oss pengene tilbake, men etter HARDT arbeide klarte jeg det, så om dette skjer andre må dere ikke akseptere å ikke få pengene. Jeg snakket med Indiske familier som var like missfornøyde som oss,og som også krevde pengene tilbake, […] så dette er ikke snakk om vestlige turister som forventer for mye.
