Cheap prices, you won't stay much more comfortable for less anywhere. Not really a 4-star comparing to equivalents in Scandinavia, more of a 3-star. Clean. The service was good, the personel were nice and helpful. The rooms were stuck somewhere in the 90's what standard concerns. Noisy junction between two bigger streets, so it's hard to have the windows […] open at nigt and sleep (as the heavy traffic ends somewehere at 00:00 and beginns again 05:30). No aircondition, so you might want to open the windows. Communications to city are good. The tram M5 and M6 will bring you to/from Alexanderplatz in about 15min. Breakfast was ok, at least as we got it for about half the normal price. For the full price I'd say it wouldn't been worth it, for half it was an easy way to minimize extra trouble. Läs mer

Jag tillbringade fem nätter på Grand city hotel och hade en bra vistelse. Hotellet ligger en bit utanför centrum men när man väl fått kläm på spårvagnar och tunnelbanor var det ganska enkelt att ta sig in, ca 15 min och du är på Alexanderplatz. Receptionen vet och villig att hjälpa. Rummet var stort och rymligt och bra städat. Tv på rummet, dock är […] alla kanaler på tyska och vill man "hyra" film var det lite väl dyrt med tanke på att det var en gammal tjock-Tv med dåligt ljud. Tyvärr tyckte jag frukosten var väldigt dyr också då den tyvärr inte ingick i bokningen och valde därför att äta min frukost på något av alla goda bagerier där man får rikligt med mat föra nästan halva hotel priset. I liked the hotel stay on Grand City Central. Don't be confused as we been when we arrived and saw Holiday Inn. The two hotels are having the same Lobby and reception. But the staff was helpful and they gave us maps and sold us Fahrkarte (card for bus/metro/tram). Can really recommend this hotel in the cheaper-mid price range.

trevligt hotell med gångavstånd till spårvagnarna M5 och M6 som tar dig till Alexanderplatz på ca 15 min! Rummen var normalstora och bra städade. Hotellets frukost var okej, dock inte den bästa. Rekomenderas!

Hotellet var bra, men receptionen var skyltad i annat namn (Holiday inn). Receptionen erbjöd god hjälp med biljetter för kollektivtrafik och taxibokning. Hotellet ligger en bit utanför centrum, men det finns en spårvagnslinje bara ett kvarter bort, så det är inget egentligt problem.

Very serviceminded staff, close to tram, got unfornately a smokers room (smells!) since the hotel was fully booked. Nice rooms for the money.

Ett ruskigt prisvärt hotell, 15min med spårvagnen till Alexanderplatz, rummet var stort och allt fanns att tillgå. Området runt om fanns tyvärr inget att se, fanns väldigt prisvärda fik vid Alexanderplaz för frukost. Om man vill besöka IKEA så ligger det c:a 10minuter längre upp på Lansberger Allé med språvagnen och Döner Kebap ståndet vi spårvagns […] stationen kan varmt rekommenderas. Börja resan med en Hop on Hop Off buss så ni får ett begrepp om sevärdheterna i Berlin för de är många. Läs mer

The hotel is 15 minutes by tram away from Alexanderplatz, no big deal. You can find a supermarket up the street below ground, good prices and opening hours. The breakfast buffet was good, and very busy. If you want bacon, just ask for it and they will cook it for you while you wait, at no extra cost. Hotellet var till full belåtenhet och i förhållande till priset så kan vi inte klaga på läget utan tvärtom. Det var ett bra hotell kanske ett kylskåp på rummet skulle in.

Ett hotell i fd Öst-Berlin med nära till allmäna kommunikationer. Ett bra alternativ när man har bil med sig. Dyr frukost och dåligt med tillgång till internet och dyrt. Bra service, bra med matställen och ett schysst rum som var rent och hade det vi behövde.

The hotel was easy to find and the facilities looked promising. We had a lovely lunch whilst waiting for check in. The hotel staff kindly offered to hold our bags in storage whilst we waited, which was greatly appreciated. We were told we were going to have a double bed, but it turned out to be a twin room. When I informed reception of the discrepancy, […] they told me that someone would sort it out shortly. We waited in the room then one of the staff arrived. She proceeded to push the beds together and then asked if she could be of anymore assistance. I was confused. I asked if there was any chance of a double duvet and was told, 'no, I'm sorry.' It was a fairly surreal experience. The food and staff were nice, the room however, was a huge disappointment. I upgraded to a business room purely on the expectation that me and my partner could have a double bed and the pictures on the website. Being in a business room did have the perk of free wifi. As I took my laptop to finish off some work, the wifi allowed us to watch p**n for free, instead of paying extortionate rates for ppv; every cloud, I suppose. The room was clean when we arrived but cleaners never did more than pull up the duvets. Booked a queen bed but entire hotel was twin beds. Hot water fluctuated between scalding to cold. Room card failed or was taken by cleaning staff. Staff who were able to speak English had a UK flag on their name tag but few made the effort to actually converse in […] English. Mostly, everything was fine, with four notable exceptions. First, the curtains were sheer, which meant the room was drenched in sunlight by 5:30 AM. Be sure to bring your blinders if you value sleep. Second, the room was very warm. The windows only open a few inches and there is no AC. I can't imagine how hot it must be in the summer. The hotel was a good 3* hotel and excellent value for money. We would definitely go back again. Location was a 5 minute walk from two tram stops. Room was basic but clean and we had no complaints. There is a bar and restaurant on site and a few nearby.

Felt the springs in the bed. Old Box TV, Old brick of a remote control, generally depressing interior and feel. Old furniture. Room was not the same as photo displayed on expedia booking. Location is ok but not the best, and old depressing apartments around everywhere. Stay in West Berlin. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Was excited to stay here as the photos suggest a better look and feel. Got a good price on expedia so I took it. Wifi is an extra 10 Euro per day. Upon arriving, it is a bit out of city centre, but easily accessible with buses, taxis, etc. The new restaurant is about the only cool and new area. And good food. The rest is like 30-40 years old, that […] old depressing look and feel. Carpet in my room is stained. Room, bathroom, sheets and pillows are however clean. The tv must me at least 25 years old and the remote is super retro old at least 30 years old. Interior design is not appealing at all. New tones and colour could do a lot to these old rooms, and get rid of carpets. thats so 80's and full of dirt and bacteria. Surrounding area is the same, old and depressing buildings. A good location, just 10-15 minutes from the centre and tourist attractions. The location made it easy to get about Berlin. The staff were very helpful and appreciated our attempts at speaking German. If you need anything explain fully to the staff what you need and they are very helpful but you do need to explain what you need to get the best answer. […] We asked about Internet and were told the price of wifi but when we asked if there was somewhere nearby to check our e-mail were directed to a free Internet suit. Their was no double bed, just 2 twin beds pushed together and the pillows were uncomfortable (although at checkout I did find out there was a pillow menu). The hotel is actually two hotels combined - the Grand City East hotel and a Holiday Inn Express which share the same reception, which confused us a little. The three towers of the hotel are connected via a maze of shopping centre tunnels. Rooms were very warm. Rooms were cleaned daily. Bathroom was modern with plenty of hot water.

Great for location, hotel needs an update but ok for the money. Bit scruffy - total shabby chic ' ish, but the closeness to the u bahn and shopping is so good you will be happy to stay. The hotel is very nice and clean and a great value. Only a 10 minute tram ride from Alexanderplaatz(city center) or Berlin-Nordbahnhof (Berlin Wall). The tram stop is a 2 minute walk from the hotel.

We stayed here for 7 nights of a 3-week interrail trip accross Europe. Having our own room and shower was a luxury after several nights in youth hostels, but we didn't expect the hotel to be in such a remote location, nor were we aware that it had recently become a branch of the Hotel Inn chain! The hotel is part of Holiday Inn group - so quality of the room is Holiday Inn Standart - good and the room was clean and comfortable. But at night by check-inn the receptionist told us they aren't available smoking free rooms....if we pay more they she can give us a superior room.. After while fighting was smoking free room available...no comment... […] The breakfest is in the hotel little bit expensive in compare that this hotel is like 10km outside from downtown. Lovely Holiday Inn run hotel - similar standard to what you would expect to a Holiday Inn in the UK. I'm quite confused by some of the reviews left by other travellers who had a negative experience - but with around 1500 hotel rooms, I guess not every room would be exactly the same. But our room was lovely (on 11th floor) - only thing we felt was missing […] was tea/coffee making facilities, but that's a really minor point. The staff were fantastic - so helpful and kind. Everyone we spoke to who worked there had exceptional English which was great for us, as we (shamefully) know very little german. We ate in the New Orleans bar in the hotel - and the food and service were absolutely amazing and the menu provides a real variety of food at reasonable prices. The M5 and M6 trams from round the corner of the hotel go to Alexanderplatz which is one of the big main areas - and it is easy to change here for other trams or u-bahns to take you to other desirable locations such as Potsdamer Platz. We took the S9 train from the (Schoenefeld) airport to Landsberger Allee then got the M5 (or M6) tram to Weissenseer Weg. We bought a 3 day travel ticket from the hotel which included travel for 72 hours on any bus/tram/u-bahn/s-bahn and entry into all of the museums on Museum Island for 32 euros each- which we considered to be very good value. We absolutely loved Berlin - and although we found it quite complicated to find our way around (public transport - although clean, and reliable, could be a bit confusing and things weren't signposted very well) we hope to return again to explore more of this wonderful city. Can't wait to go back and wouldn't think twice about staying at this hotel again. Excellent value for money and an all round positive experience. Läs mer

This hotel was very clean, the staff was very friendly. It was alittle out of the way. It was hard to find the entrance. It was actully the Holiday Inn. To the center city was only a 15 euro cab fee. There is also no air conditioning.
