This motel is not bad for the price, and I suppose I would stay there again. Given the location right on University, it was surprisingly quiet,and the bed was comfortable. However, the room was tiny and the "free breakfast" was so bad we chose to eat out instead.

First to dispell a couple of myths from other reviews: the neighbourhood is not dodgy. There were single women jogging up and down the street at nighttime. Behind university ave is a residential area with families. Possibly 2 homeless in the whole area, but not dangerous. Location was central. 2 blocks from the BART which connects to almost everything. […] Second, the staff is great. I was kind to them and they were kind to me. And the room was great. Very clean. Hotel was the most affordable in San Francisco at the time so the bang for the buck is very impressive. Pillows of varying firmness on the bed to find whatever makes you comfortable. Breakfast isn't anything special, but luckily they give a fridge and microwave in the room. Trader Joe's a couple blocks away and you can buy organic and natural everything and stock it in your room. Highly recommend it for a great stay in the SF area. Only downside, some guests get up early and create noise. Street noise is minimal if anything . What a nice price motel and out of this world service. I stayed at the Hilton in Emereyville for twice as much with the same ameneties. This place is awesome and good breakfast and internet. new rooms and clean.

Excellent service and the front desk guy was very helpful. we checked in at 3am in the morning he was very nice and was very welcoming. he even carried our luggage in our room as well. This motel is very clean and newly renovated. Great service and good people. Good internet service as well

the first night there was hair under the cover once we got ready to go to sleep. we had to sleep on top of the covers because because we could not tell if the sheets had been changed or not------we had a very early schedule, therefore I did not have a chance to talk to to manager about it.So I thought maybe they would change the covers and sheets the […] next day as part of their service--no such luck--had to sleep a second night on top of the covers. Owners were rude and preoccupied w their own family matters to attend to basic hotel needs...such as check in and key issue. I felt like I was intruding in someones home. A waste of gate away time and money.

I arrived after hours. I had to wait at least 10 minutes for someone to answer the reception bell. I had to call... there was no answer. When the attendant came to the door he was surly and unwelcoming. Not a pleasant experience at all. The sheets and bed linens were well worn and flimsy. The room was just ok.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are very nice--updated, clean, comfortable. The hotel is close to UC Berkeley and lots of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Also, the staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly. My only complaint was that the walls were a bit thin, so I could hear my neighbors talking as I tried to fall asleep. Not a huge thing, […] but something to think about. Overall, the hotel is priced well for the area. The building is a little old (worn comforters, dented lamp shades, etc.) but was very clean. The staff was very helpful and the parking lot is a nice addition. The hotel is a couple of blocks from the BART which is convenient for public transit options. Mediocre, quite reflective of the price. There was no breakfast, by the way, unlike the advertisement, but we wouldn't have stayed for it given the overall impression. Great location, walking distance to BART and Berkeley. Not the place if you will have any down time in your room, we used it just for sleeping! Tiny bathroom but clean.

I was very satisfied with my stay at Super 8 in Berkeley. Though check in time was at 3pm, they were able to let me check in early. The staff is professional, courteous and friendly. The room was very comfortable and clean. The microwave and refrigerator made my stay more convenient as I was able to store some food items and ate out less. They provided […] a more than adequate supply of towels though if you are like me and need shampoo, conditioner and special soap--I suggest you bring your own. The hotel did provide basic face and body soap and a little vial of shampoo so there were some toiletries. The water pressure and temperature is delightful. Perfect for starting out the day or winding down from being out on the town. I was here for 3 nights while commuting from Sacramento to UC, Berkeley and I honestly can't complain. It's right along the bus line but if you are of the walking persuasion, you can tackle the distance from Super 8 to anywhere near UCB's campus on foot. Breakfast is basic but good: packaged breakfast strudel and Eggo waffles, cereal with milk (oatmeal and yogurt off to the side), coffee and orange juice. I would definitely stay again. Läs mer

Hotel is fresh and renovated. Simple but excellent value. Well located for most activities in special the ones related to UCB due to its relative proximity. I come back to it every time.

The Indian hotel manager was very snappy and argumentative. He is more concerned about the property than the comfort of his guests. As I was checking out, I heard him yelling at guests (a family of three) about how they should be careful with the door handle when closing their hotel room door. This small motel is not a resort destination, but it's a great, clean, inexpensive place to stay in Berkeley. It's not far from campus, on a major street. There was a lot of traffic, and our room faced the street, but it was quiet enough to sleep really well. Our beds were clean and comfortable, the bathroom was immaculate and we will gladly stay here […] again. Parking is off street and safe. We didn't try the breakfast because we had other plans. Early in the morning employees were polishing the exterior light fixtures and watering the geraniums. A very pleasant stay. Läs mer
