Satisfactory on the whole, except that the air-con is still controlled at heat regardless the temperature in late April is 27 degree.

Good location close to Ikebukuro station. Not the luxurious stay of your dreams but quiet and good and nice service with a young traveling crowd around. I have stayed here 3 or 4 times by now because of the good points above mentioned and I like Ikebukuro, however, if you find slightly more luxurious for similar price, go for it as this time the damp […] smell in the bathroom did bother me a bit and I was longing for a view. The hotel is located about 4 minutes away from a JR station, so that right away made it convenient. The fact that it is in Ikebukuro, near many of the Tokyo hot-spots, made it even more so. The price is lower than average hotel prices. Thus it is more or less not expected to have full hotel comforts. However the lobby is kinda cramped and the fittings in the room kinda cheap. Other than that the service is ok, location is not too bad. Would look for another hotel for my next stay though.

I was a solo traveller and I stayed in Sakura Hotel Ikebukuro for 4 nights. I stayed in a single room with toilet & bath on the 5th floor. It's a small room, but clean and comfortable. It's located on a side street, so the foot/ vehicle traffic on that street is I stayed there from March 24 to 28, so the weather was fairly cold. The room had a heater, […] so it was nice returning to the hotel after a day of exploring. At the ground floor was the Sakura Cafe. It serves all sorts of drinks (coffee, tea, alcohol) and there's free wifi. The outdoor area was protected from the cold by a thick curtain of transparent plastic (which they pull open in warmer weather). Aside from that, there were soft blankets draped over some chairs in case you needed something to put over your legs for warmth :) A nice friendly touch to the cafe. The staff spoke excellent english, which is immensely helpful to travellers who are not very skilled at Japanese (like me) :-) Around the area are numerous restaurants with a wide price range. There are ramen, tonkatsu, curry shops nearby. Of course, there are convenience stores and vending machines, too. For shopping, the nearest mall is a O1O1 department store (and Tobu inside Ikebukuro station). The walk to and from Ikebukuro station is short and comfortable. I had one rolling luggage. Hotel is located just about 5 to 8 minutes walk from JR or Metro Stations and it is very convenient in exploring the nearby cities. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Thought the hotel room is quite small, but it is clean, tidy and comfortable.

It should provide free WiFi inside each room, so that we don't haver to walk down to the lobby for getting the wireless. The pillow was so small and not comfort.

We had a triple room on the 9th floor. We arrived very late (about 1am) and was greeted nicely and shown to our room. Location was great for this hotel. Very close to the station which was a good link to many places. There was a nice outside area which was part of the restaurant. Sat outside a few nights and got chatting to some other travellers. Had a bit of a nightmare stay here. The free train pic up is non existent. Called the no on website, no one speaks English and they say in broken English to get a taxi! When checking in we are told We only have breakfast for one person despite two of us booking in. We argue and they give us the second breakfast. First room we checked into had a rotten […] smell from the sink drain plus hairs everywhere so we changed room. Second room was cleaner but also v small. Economical if you stay 4 days & more you get 40% off. Will definitely come back again. Like the facility, cleanliness...

Staff were friendly. Hotel room is small and it would be good to have some shelves in the room for putting our clothes instead of placing them on the writing table.

Convenient, friendly hotel, just 3 blocks from a major subway and JR Rail station. Small room but quiet, good for sleeping. Friendly staff and guests - kind of a hostel atmosphere even though I had a private room. Free and fast ethernet internet with wifi on first floor. 24 hour cafe in hotel annex across the street. Great hotel. Had the twin room with the bunks. Was a little small for two people, but the price was right and the room was clean. The location was pretty good too, close to Ikebukuro Station. What more could you ask for?

This Hotel is cheap, close to the JR yamanote line, Is clean, has friendly english speaking staff, has a restaurant accross the street and i didn't find it particularly noisey. I Highly recommend this hotel and will book it again next time in tokyo

Enjoyed our stay very much. Staff were helpful, and spoke good English. We liked the outdoor seating area for breakfast (it was summer!). The atmosphere was friendly & welcoming

I booked a twin room for one night it wasn't bad. At first blush you think I'm not staying here, but it was clean and they have free Wi-fi downstairs or LAN hookup in the rooms. The staff was friendly and everyone spoke pretty good english. I wouldn't do a week or so here but 3 or less nights won't kill you.

For the amount of money I spent on lodging, this hotel fit my need and I was very satisfied. All the staffs on duty speak English very well. They can help you reserve airport shuttle, restaurant, and even find pubs that serve beer that doesn't break your bank. On site laundry are self-service, convenient and cheap. WiFi included although the signal […] got little weak at the highest floor. Dormitory room fits four roommates. But at low season, you may get away with one roommate only. Your experience varies depends on your roommate. The cafe across the street open 24-hours. There you can meet people from all over the world. The air-conditioner was out of order. I couldn't sleep at the first night. You have to check it before reservation.

I've stayed at this hotel a total of 4 seperate occassions but unfortunately this latest time was the worse. The room I had my 2nd stay this 3rd trip to Japan had a broken window handle so I couldn't open it up to let some fresh air in to a overly humid stuffy room because the a/c was busted. They turned off the bidet feature on the toilet (I've always […] had a bidet in the bathroom so suddenly not having one was kind of awkward) not to mention the tv was ALSO busted and took 2 days of my 3 day stay to fix. I'm seriously considering staying elsewhere in Ikebukuro next time since rates at Sakura have risen to almost comparable to those of newer more modern western style hotels in the area. Ikebukuro is one of the largest railway stations in Tokyo. There's a thriving neighborhood around the station that guests at the Sakura Hotel can enjoy. Lots of restaurants and shops, though the area doesn't feel touristy at all, which I like. At night certain areas, particularly to the northwest of the station, can be a bit sleazy. If you're into […] partying and clubs, this might be a good place for you. If you find the right exit (the large West Exit) out of the labyrinthine station, it's easy to use the map on the hotel's website to reach it in 5-10 minutes walk, even with a large bag. The best thing about the hotel is it's friendly staff. They were extremely enthusiastic and helpful, and their English was great. One front desk worker spent 10 minutes on the phone with a contact trying to help me find a local restaurant. The rooms are as advertised: very basic layout with little extra space, but the hotel met my requirements as a budget business traveler: fast Internet, easy to reach, hot shower and a comfortable bed. I stayed in another Sakura hotel in Jimbocho, and the Ikebukuro was light years ahead, in my view. Jimbocho felt much more like a hostel, while Ikebukuro was much more like a true hotel. Another note on location: Ikebukuro is on the JR Yamanote line, which offers easy access to the popular Shinjuku and Shibuya areas. For foreigners with the Japan Rail Pass, travel on the Yamanote line is free. From the airport, Narita Express runs all the way to Ikebukuro, but it's the last stop on the line and is served by fewer trains. Depending on your arrival time, it might be quicker to take N'EX to Shinjuku and transfer to Yamanote toward Ikebukuro, which is what I did. Läs mer

The hotel is in an excellent location, a few blocks from the subway, which is one of the main transportation lines leading to the centre of Tokyo, and the most important tourist attractions. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the staff is friendly and will help you with any requests, in fluent English.

This is probably a "quiet" part of Tokyo but at night the streets nearby are lively. Very comfortable area and the subway station is conveniently close if you don't have lots to carry. The hotel room is really small, but Japanese hotel rooms are small. The room was comfortable and expected from a Japanese lifestyle. 比较囧的一次经历，明明定的是双人房结果过去发现所有东西都只有一套，我和我朋友不懂日文，只能打电话给日本的朋友让他们和旅店交流，结果问下来说：不是双人房，是床的大小是比较大。但是我定的时候明明是DOUBLE ROOM！！！本来想换酒店的。。。后来旅店多给了套枕头，也就算了。。。

Hostelli ja hotelli ovat vastakkaisilla puolilla tieta melko hyvalla paikalla ja suhteellisen siisti ja rauhallinen vaikka huone olikin katutasossa. Talvella on melko kylma.

Somewhat hostel like feeling. Fridge is a definite plus as the cheap breakfast had very limited menu. -> We bought stuff from a local minimart and stuffed the fridge for the morning. Close enough to the Ikebukuro JR-station so it was easy enough to walk the few blocks even after a long day.
