The location was fine and the hotel was easy to locate just of the A4. The rooms were adequate and had all of the essentials including an iron and ironing board. I arrived at 9.00pm and food was still available in the adjoining "Hundry Horse" pub. They serve food until 9.30pm. I did not have breakfast so can't comment on it. I would use the hotel a […] gain. The room was very spacious, with a large sofa, plenty of space for clothes, a nice ensuite. Tea, coffee & biscuits, iron & board, and tv were all provided in the room. The pub is in a separate wing so I wasn't disturbed at all. I didn't use it, but it looked like a nice beer garden. The hotel staff are very friendly and the hotel is located conveniently on major road routes. The restaurant served a good full english in the morning and the restaurant attached offers other traditional english meals, though I did not eat dinner there as it was mainly occupied by people drinking rather than eating. The room was nice and most of the […] visible spaces appeared clean. But it didn't take long to see it needed a good clean out in other areas. Pat the couch or chair and a plume of dust comes up. Corners or shelves were very dusty. Linens and bathroom appeared clean overall. My window opened up with direct view of the petrol station, which afforded little privacy, especially with people walking past right outside my window. Needed a sheer curtain to offer some privacy. Reception is not staffed regularly so you usually have to call the restaurant to get sevice. This is hit or miss; sometimes they answer, other times both lines were left ringing with no reply. Overall it was a nice stay for a night and if you need a place to stop off then it is not a bad place to be. I wouldn't spend my holiday here though. Läs mer

We liked staying at this hotel. As a disabled person I found the room very good with lots of grab rails in the bathroom. The hotel was completely accessible from the car park to the restaurant and to the bedrooms. We found the staff friendly and helpful. We had the continental breakfast which we thought was good value. We'd booked here as it was the closest accommodation to the venue for a friend's birthday party. Having read some of the reviews, we were a bit worried about what we would find... but actually is was fine. The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and continental breakfast was reasonably […] good. So, it ticked all the boxes we needed. Would I go back - yes... but be sure to try and get a late deal to make the price more reasonable... and do ask for room that doesn't overlook the Texaco Garage - although the double glazing was very effective and I wasn't bothered by any noise, it was a rather disconcerting sight when you pull back the curtains in the morning! Staff excellent - all of them. I've stayed over a 6 month period and so you see the highs and lows. The business should invest some money into refurbishment to improve room 22 !, With limited resources the staff do an excellent job in looking after you - better than some 5 star hotels I've stayed in ! They remember your name, what you like ( and don't […] like) and with a Hungry Horse attached, you get a Weds Curry night - bloke heaven ! Ideal for weekend family visits, but remember it's not a luxury spa and does not pretend to be one ! Stay and relax and go to you wherever you need to go - it's an ideal location to get to Ascot, Reading, etc., without being in the middle of it all. The free wi-fi is a brilliant bonus and the cleaning ladies really look after you - don't underestimate them, when you stay in hotels a lot, like I do ! We've stayed at the Wee Waif for a few years. This time we noticed it was a bit tired. It's fine if you are after a budget hotel, but it has slipped. Room ok....except for the underpants in the corner!!! Shower curtain filthy. Kettle didn't work. You get what you pay for.
