Detta är nog ett av de bästa hotellen som går att finna vid Waikiki Beach. Mycket trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Rena, stilrena och stora rum med sköna sängar. Rummet städades två gånger/dag och AC:n fungerade fint. Poolområdet var fint men om man ville till stranden fanns det gratis handdukar att ta med. Ungefär 5 minuter promenadavstånd till Waikiki […] beach. God mat på deras restaurang Morimoto och fina barer. Väldigt modernt. Enda nackdelen med detta hotell är vägljudet. Det ligger precis vid en stor väg och bor man långt ner är det nog ganska högt ljud. Vi bodde på våning 11 och hade utsikt mot havet från hotellets sida. Där var det helt okej ljudnivå. Så man bör nog inte välja rum mot staden om man gillar att sova tyst. Det var inte lyhört mellan rummen. Det är ett väldigt modernt, snyggt och fräscht hotell som ligger nära både shopping, restauranger och stranden. Atmosfären är ungdomlig och avstämd men ändå professionell. Modern, youthful and clean. Excellent service. The much written about change in ownership did not affect us in any way, everything was top notch. After being somewhat worried about what some people wrote in comment before our stay, once we got there it became quite apparent that a most of it was complete and total bull. Although not right on the beach, my room faced the beach, ocean and pleasure boats in the harbor. It was a lovely setting...away from the touristy hustle and bustle of Waikiki, but only a short stroll to the tourist area for the stores, bars and restaurants. I loved the all-white decor, as well as the beautiful decoration around the pool/bar area. The restaurant (Morimotos) was exceptional - fun bartenders and another beautiful outdoor eating area with lava rock fire pits next to the tables. I originally chose this hotel based on price but once we got there we were pleasantly surprised at how well thought out everything was, and how friendly and accommodating the staff was! It was the little things, all the little details that made the difference and the Modern just seemed to have thought of everything! Lovely hotel but you can here the traffic so loudly through the windows you'd think you were outside. Might want to do something about that. I've stayed in many Waikiki hotels, and never had this problem. otherwise hotel was great. Thank you.

The location is slightly outside of the main Waikiki beach. The room was clean and the staff service was very professional. The ocean view room is misleading, and Hotels.com should clearly identify this. We were allowed to check-in early which is a big bonus. Really classy hotel. The outdoor pool area was fantastic, and comfortable to relax at. I like it how no matter where you are in the hotel, there is always groovy music playing (not too loud). There were even speakers underwater in the pool! On top of it all, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

I found this hotel on the Hotels.com website. Looked very nice in pictures but the reality was a bit different, not so much though.... Great hotel, my wife and I spent 6 nights in the Modern. Very good modern clean rooms, great pool area, great location and value for money, nothing else to say!

This hotel is extremely relaxing. Everything from check in to check out was very smooth. After a 14 hour flight to get to Honolulu, I appreciated the refreshing drink they gave me upon check in The staff is very courteous. The Only problem we had, was leaving this hotel!! Cannot leave balcony door open at night at the construction noise on street below is LOUD. If you have air conditioning on and door shut, you should be okay. Otherwise, we really enjoyed staying here - the staff was outstanding, the pool fabulous and live music happy hour was completely enjoyable.

Great design and layout w/ a little to explore in hotel. Very freindly and expedited service upon arrival and checkout! Room floor staff stopped by maybe a little to often to check on things ( one reason is the ice maker is locked up and staff has to get it for you), only staff/service issue, but not a deal at all. Great pool areas! Good crowd (young, […] relaxed, vibrant, hip)! Drinks at pool levels are expensive though, only slightly higher than HNL average. Rooms are sizeable, simple, comfortable, clean, nice bathrooms and even the city side has partial ocean view w/ balconies. And finally, the only real concern we had before we showed up was location: however considering only a handful of hotels actually have a useable beachfront on Waikiki, walking a raised "boardwalk" for 2-3 minutes strait to the beach (no streets to cross) was really nice and convenient. Also, lots of stuff all around hotel. We had a couple of rainy days in the beginning of our trip, so we did alot of walking around and lobby lounging at other hotels, still probably go back to the Modern next time in HNL! Läs mer

From check in to check out, this was a great place to stay. While we generally gravitate towards B&B's or hotels with old-time ambiance, we took a chance at this very sleek and stylish hotel. For the avid shopper, which I am, the Modern Honolulu is very appropriate with just a short walk to the Waikiki shopping strip & the Ala Moana centre. Facilities are very Modern.

Very nice simple decor. Great bed, pillows and sheets. Enjoyed musician in lounge. Comfortable pool area. Restaurant was disappointing. Food was very good but service disjointed and slow.

This is a fabulous hotel - the place itself is achingly cool without arrogance, the staff friendly and helpful, and the rooms simply awesome. The location is just off the end of the beach which means that the hotel feels away from the hoards (most other beachfront hotels suffer from lots of people walking straight past the sunbathing decks and feel […] busy) yet literally around the corner from the action. The Modern is a beautiful boutique property overlooking Honolulu Harbor at the edge of Waikiki. It is a real value compared with other area hotels I've visited in my many trips to Oahu. Of special note is the pleasant efficiency of its concierge desk, at least in the person of Ms. Oong, and Morimoto restaurant, which is housed in The Modern (superb […] Japanese cuisine). The property is close to the beach, Ala Moana Center (Hawaii's largest mall) and vehicular access is almost instantaneous to Ala Moana Boulevard -- which remains under seemingly perpetual construction. I stay in Honolulu a week a month. Have been at the Modern or more often next door for more than a year. First night this stay, room on the 7th floor of Modern, kept awake by disco music until 4 am. throbbing through floor. Next morning, front desk said that's our club. What about those of who pay for a room to sleep: response don't worry the club is […] closed until Thursday. Neighboring room said you didn't have it so bad, a drunk knocked on their door at 3 am and would not go away for 40 minutes until she regaled them how much fun the club was. Day 2, the hotel say you can get poolside breakfast and dinner with full service. Several times that I have eaten at the outside areas, the 3 guys and 2 girls who are supposed to be working from the outdie bar seem mostly intent on standing around looking too cool but not coming out from behind the bar. After 45 minutes with no service and watching a neighboring table get menus but not have order taken, I left, less aggravating to get room service. On other visits similar experience with delay and poor service at outside bar, had to go up to bar and ask to be served. Had to go back and ask for table ware and salt and pepper. The bartenders are ok if sit right at the bar. Who knows if you will ever see the roaming servers. The food is good, but not modestly priced so you wonder how they get by with more than half of the staff doing infrequent, intentive service Day 3 -- elevators lock up and shut down, eventually fireman coming out of elevators. Employee with radio says no problem, but you will have to walk back up stairs to room if you don't want to wait. She doesn't know where the staircases are. Other people are frightened about going back up. Elevators finally come back on. An hour later in the room the power goes off, cable system deprograms. Day 4 -- when you come down and need a cab, there is rarely one at the front. When they call for a cab could take 20 minutes. Other hotels have cabs in front so often better to wal Läs mer

This hotel is fresh clean and service impeccable from moment of arrival. Staff assisted every need with ease. The rooms were second to none in cleanliness, amenities and ohh that linen was sooo comfortable. The concierge was amazing in arranging alternate travel with the collapse of our Australian airline carrier. As a whole this hotel including nightclub […] is five star plus. Loved the location, close to Ala Moana Shopping, short walk around Hilton Lagoon to the beach, staff were curtious, opted for the "Stay and Play" option that allowed me to enjoy another full day before my 11:00pm flight, Ilikai lobby adjacent offered full service store or ABC across street, restaurants and Mcdonalds next door, pool area's are exceptional, […] overall very satisfied with the Modern. We were very happy with our stay at the hotel. Staff was very courteous and helpful. I told my wife at times I felt like we were in South Miami Beach. A very hip hotel for young couples and yet for someone who is in his fifties I felt very comfortable myself. A short walking distance to the beach restaurants, shopping and night clubs.

If this is not the best place in Waikiki/Honolulu/Hawaii for a hotel stay then it would hit top 5 easy! We were greeted warmly at all points...from Henry and gang outside the door through to massage therapists and the best concierge to assist with our plans. The conciege made it easy for us to make plans of our own but assist with directions in getting […] there. Some hotels we found wanted to sell or upsell a package to make extra dollars. The Modern is also close enough to the airport for a taxi ride for under $35. They were there to make life easy without making decisions for you. All staff were professional and made one welcome, which we did experience in many hotels but not as smooth as this, it was seamless and made our stay so much more memorable. It seemed they were doing there tasks as if it was very important that guests were treated right. We had the best stay! The room was ideal, facilities just right on from the pool and beach, gym, and then the loccation was just what we wanted...not too close to have the noise of all Waikiki banging at your window, but so close it was an easy walk. The Ala Moana Center was only a few minutes walk the other way which afforded us the opportunity to buy other things, which make the certain stores look limited and expensive for groceries. They charged me $50 for my two pound puppy to stay that was not disclosed on Hotels.com. My iPhone charger went missing when I valet parked my car. I made a report and the parking attendant and I searched the car and my overnight bag just in case it got misplaced. I made a report with the security guard. All of this at 6:00 am when I was rushing to […] leave. I called the next day and asked to be reimbursed for my charger. I spoke with the security guard who sent me to a manager who said he had to call me back and let me know what they could do. Four days Later and no call back. Ridiculous. Hte bed was nice but the rooms are small. The prices are silly for an old property that has w new prom dress on. The pool area is great if you want that. Never going back. This hotel is one of the few hotels and resorts in Honolulu that have been updated. Rooms are hotel style but very comfortable and very clean and plenty of room.

Stayed for 5 nights. The room has 2 full beds; (we are 3 in the room) clean, has small ref and free internet. No microwave nor coffee maker. This place is in the outskirts of Waikiki and to get to Waikiki we walked along the beach by the Hilton Hawaiian Village and Hale Koa. We have a view of the harbor, city and partial view of the ocean. I prefer […] this location than staying in Waikiki. This is a better than average hotel but not a luxury hotel. I was happy with our stay for the price that we paid except for: 1. Our paid reservation not in the hotel's computer but we were accommodated anyway. 2. Assigned on the 15th floor near the elevator. We stayed at the Modern for one night as a stopover on our way to Maui. It's a gorgeous hotel with very comfortable and clean rooms and a beautiful pool area. The hotel lets itself down on service though. In the afternoon, we came down to the pool and said that we wanted drinks and snacks and were told a server would be with us shortly. We waited 25 […] minutes before anybody came. We then ordered 2 drinks, fries and chips and salsa. It took more than one hour for the food to come - and this is stuff that requires almost no cooking! There was no apology or explanation for the wait. We had the same trouble when trying to pay our bill. We actually gave the waiter our money and while waiting for change he (for the first time) came and asked us how were were doing and if we needed anything. The Modern Honolulu delivered far more than we were expecting. It's seemingly very recent transformation from 60's cinder block to stunning modern contemporary beachside chic is beautifully handled. Large airy minimally styled spaces, restrained colour palette, roomy bathrooms, great views. Service was uniformally top notch from reception to poolside […] to concierge - all of whom seem to love their work. Food by the pool is delicious. Located next to Hilton lagoon - and only minutes from waikiki beach. We found the location ideal - as it's on the edge of waikiki rather than in the middle of it - so you can escape the madness and crowds. Hotel was very very good. Only complaint was that the room was near the hotel's air condition system so it was extremely noisy/loud. I would recommend a room above the 8th floor. Initial check-in staff was not very friendly or helpful when I requested a room above the 4th floor even though I told her this was a very special occasion for us. The front […] desk personnel afterwards were very helpful and accommodating unlike the first person we encountered. The hotel amenities and service were outstanding. The only issue was one of the bathroom's light was not working and the 9-5 pm housekeeping was not very good and did not refill the bathroom toiletries unless asked. They did, however, replace the towels. The evening housekeeper was excellent, even filled our ice bucket and gave us two bottles of water. It is with great reluctance that I write to share what an amazing hotel this is for fear that it will become overcrowded and impossible to book in the future! There is nothing like it on Waikiki or probably in Honolulu, period. Congrats on a cool concept, superb staff, and amazing amenities! I will only stay here going forward.
