Hotell The Viking Lodge and Ski Shop - Winter Park

Older hotel, comfy beds, half the price of other hotels. Rooms were clean, great central location downtown, friendly staff. Perfect if your looking for a clean, comfortable bed to crash for half the price of competitors. Also, clean hot tub, free ping pong, free billiards, and a relaxing new sauna. Great value overall

The best part: the hot tub. Nobody else seemed to use it. Clean and warm. Perfect! The bad part: the bed. Old and soft. No support at all. Neither of us could sleep. Service was wonderful, and the sale price was a good value, but the bed will probably keep me from coming back.

Great price, and very comfortable. Enjoyed watching it snow out my window! Outdoor hot tub was just right. (Don't want to make this review too good, or they'll raise the price!) The walk in the morning to get coffee was beautiful.

This place shouldn't be permitted to be a hotel, NOTHING WORKED! The shower would swing between way too hot and way too cold by itself, and the shower floor was so gross I put a towel on the floor to use it. The toilet took 5 flushes to flush, the sink dripped, and anytime the upstairs neighbors moved, it sounded like they were going to fall through […] the floor. There is NEVER anyone at the front desk, you have to go talk to the boy in the connecting T-shirt shop, who by the way, is also housekeeping and maintenance. But if it's past business hours, you're on your own. Need towels or a blanket? Good luck. Lock yourself out? Breaking in shouldn't be hard, because the door to the room didn't even close and lock securely, anyone could have gotten in with a credit card or butter knife with ease, except housekeeping, they only come when you check out. The heat hardly worked and couldn't keep up with the cold, especially at night. I only made it a couple of nights before I checked out 4 days early, and found a decent hotel. I would've left earlier but I already purchased a 2 day lift ticket. Not only is this hotel a waste of any money you spend on it, it'll ruin your entire vacation too. Its HORRIBLE. I paid over $100 per night for the stay, and it just wasn't worth it. They overall quality in the stay was average, and would be fine for a much cheaper rate. A friend and I stayed in a standard room, which had two twin beds, small fridge, VERY small bathroom, and a sink area outside of the bathroom with a mirror. The owners were very friendly, however […] they do not provide cleaning services unless you request it. We could never get a hold of anyone at the front desk, so our room was never cleaned. Room was entirely too small. TV was a 12". Did not have room for suitcase in room. No central air. Nobody was around at 7am to turn in room key for check Out. The room was called a standard double but was tiny,barely enough room for 2 people to enter and crawl on to the bed. There was trash from the previous occupant on the dresser and the bed looked like someone had taken a nap on it. Bed and pillows were awful. stayed 3 nights and no entered to make bed or provide clean towels. Neat old, lodge style hotel. Rooms are basic and small, but why spend time in a room, when you are right on the main street? It was clean and the bed was comfortable, and that's really all I needed. My son and I stayed at the Viking Lodge 4 nights. It's a very homey place. The owners, and you'll probably meet them right away, are very friendly. All of downtown Winter Park is with in easy walking distance. The place is a little run down, but in a great way. Our room had fake paneling from maybe the late 1970s, but huge wooden beams holding up the […] ceiling of beautiful pine planks, and a really cool old hotel dresser. Room was clean; great deal for the location; staff were friendly and helpful. Very unique place due to location and the ski shop attached. It had a breezeway to lock up and store skis. WiFi did not work in the room but it worked fantastic in the lodge and there was plenty of workspace in there. Very pleased with the location, convenience and price.

Although I rated the Lodge overall "OK", it is a great place to stay if you want a place to lay your head and for the price. It is overall clean and is a rustic "lodgy" look. The room was hot at night but there is a fan to help cool you off. You are in walking distance of everything which is extremely convenient!! The room was pathetic, tiny, (about 7'x7') primitive and not been updated in 50 years. The one window opened into a hallway with no light and filled with dust-covered junk. I can do "primitive" but to charge full-price for such a broom closet was unconsciable.

Hotel is okay but needs to be updated or renovated. found a previous occupants hat and underclothes ina dresser drawer. Bedside table was broken and placed in a position so that you didn't notice until you put something on it and it fell. The area is great with a variety of restaurants nearby and within walking distance.

Shoulder season is very slow for locals and hotel had minimal staff available, even for check-in. Recommend calling in advance to confirm rooms, check-in times, etc. Hotel.com should post phone info for hotel w/ confirmations.

Good place for a true Colorado ski experience. It's not JW Marriott, its functional and clean with cedar walls, cedar ceiling and comfortable bed and nice hot shower. Only negatives were 1) the hot tub was not functioning (critically important after a log day skiing) and 2) the TV was bogus - need to invest in some new flat screens.

Just stayed at this hotel and it was a great experience. The owner was so friendly and if you have a pet this is the place to stay. No extra fee for a pet or deposit. The beds were comfortable and for the price you can't beat it. The location is right next to several restaurants and shopping.
