We took a chance on staying at the Ivy Hotel while attending a conference nearby. There was a big convention going on at the time we were there and all of the bigger hotels were full. I was a little unsure about the Ivy because the price was so reasonable... but it was a very pleasant surprise! It is hidden just off a major intersection but close to […] a bunch of nice restaurants and some fabulous shopping. The hotel is small, but the rooms are a really nice size and really nice. Nicer than some 4/5 star rooms I've stayed in... the bathroom was a dream - it had a huge soaking tub and a rain shower head. The staff was super-nice and helpful. The staff at the Ivy was great. For being a small hotel, they offer all the amenities of a big hotel. I thought it was great when I went to the front desk to ask if they had a business center - she said (basically) I'm your business center - and printed the paper I needed and an extra, just in case. I booked this hotel for a nearby conference. I was a bit worried after reading some if the reviews. I found it to be quite enjoyable. It was a nice treat to return to cookies and a cake pop. Went to Chicago with my husband for a mid-week vacay during spring break from school. Great location, but don't know if I'd pay full price for the hotel as a whole. The Service: First off, the bartender, Jeremy is super sweet and nice. , it was pretty awesome that our room was ready when we were there two hours before check-in. Any other time we walked […] by, the staff seemed like they were half asleep or couldn't be bothered to be energetic. . Not a huge hotel if that's what you're looking for.. The hotel smelled like a spa...loved it. . We had a standard queen. Thought the room would be bigger with only five rooms per floor. pillows were great. The window was small and in the corner and looked out onto the alleyway. The bathroom was very nice. The amenities included were good. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The shower was a rainforest type...the water pressure was great and the hot water was amazing. Everything about our room felt NEW. It felt like we were coming back to a home after a long day of walking. The gym was not open, but they gave my husband a pass to another gym a couple of blocks away...he said he liked our gym at home better. MISCELLANEOUS: I had read that the temperature of the rooms was hot; yes, it was ont he warm side, but that is fiiiiiine by me...I get cold easily. .we did think the towels were very thin and little rough.OVERALL: It was a nice experience. This was a great location and a really nice hotel. I travel a lot for work so get tired of the big box hotels, this was a nice change. Very chic, stylish room. Only disappointment was that the room service stopped at 10pm, but the consistent, friendly staff we saw each day more than made up for it!

Disappointed that despite description there is no Onsite fitness center. You get a pass to a center a few blocks away, which is not feasible in 17 degree weather with no coat appropriate for workout attire. Signage in hotel still points to 3rd floor fitness center, which doesn't exist. Very misleading and disappointing.

I chose to book a room at the Ivy for a number of reasons: the very high guest rating, the assumption that with only 5 rooms per floor it would be quiet, the description of the queen room as having a "deep soaking tub", the description of all rooms having a lake or city view and presence of a rooftop deck. Not one of these reasons came to fruition. […] On seeing that our room only had a glassed-in shower, I checked with the front desk to see if we could switch to another room with a bath. I was told that only King rooms had baths. I had booked a room on an upper level to ensure that we had a good view, but our room's "city view" was of a wall approximately 3 feet away. The only way to see outside was to sit in the very small space between the closet and the edge of the window. Among other disappointments (the roof terrace was closed until April, the towels were like thin gym towels, uncomfortable bed, etc), the LARGEST problem was that this was the singularly NOISIEST room I have ever stayed in. It seemed that there was constantly someone in the elevator lobby vacuuming, making a racket with a cart, or otherwise creating a disturbance. The walls were thin enough that we could also hear the people in the neighboring rooms. Even when no one was around, the room was very noisy with sounds of the air vents/ducts cracking as they worked. We have been to Chicago many times and this was our least comfortable stay ever. My hubby and I love this boutique hotel. The rooms are always clean, comfortable and affordable! Two blocks East of Michigan Ave. so that you can be close to your destination. Love the room darkening shades, the comfortable bed, and can't wait to check out roof top lounge when it is open for the season.

Where can I start, well first the lobby looked incredible and the guest service was awesome. My room actually looked like the pictures it was spacious and I wasn't all cramped. I tell you what I stayed at the trump and other very high end hotels and this ranks up there with them. Great room for an amazingly low price...

Was very pleased with the ivy, not what you expect from the outside but when you get inside beautiful rooms, very modern. Love the bathroom, very comfortable bed seperate living area. Great location everything in walking distance. Highly recommend

Went here for our anniversary, having mentioned this would be a special night, no special accommodations were made to my surprise after reading other comments I others receiving a little special something for a special event. Everything was B+ and as always we enjoyed Chicago. The hotel policy of charging our credit card for $250 until our check-out was something we had not encountered before in Chicago. We stay at many hotels for our many visits and this was a first. The staff spent time and trouble trying to educate us as to why this was necessary. Spent a night with my fiancé as a 4 year/valentines day getaway here. I loved everything about the room. The staff was also very helpful and pleasant. Make sure you drink a Diablo from the front bar!! The only complaint was I was woken up twice from the cleaning crew in the morning. They were shuffling around in the hallway.

We loved it here. I picked it because we could see the water from our room, and it was stylish and the price was right. It was a little on the pricier side, but we didn't want to stay someplace with a small bath or generic room, and the location was tough to beat. awesome boutique hotel in heart of downtown/Magnificent Mile area. Love the modern style of the hotel, rooms and the awesome spa bathroom, too. Great use of technology as well (to lock doors, draw shades, etc.). Would recommend this to anyone that likes sharp, modern, boutique-style hotel in this area of Chicago.

I got a room to get ready for my surprise wedding, and everything could not have been better. The staff was accommodating, very generous and well-organized. The room was in excellent condition and provided more than enough room for three people to be in the bathroom at the same time while getting ready. Hotel was amazing. The view was the best but I wasn't exactly there for sightseeing. Walking distance to many great restaurants and stores. The only problem was there was no room service after 10 pm. Other then that awesome hotel great style a magnificent rooms
