It does not show on the hotel listing, but the Crowne Plaza was at the epicenter of civil protests 2-3 years ago. As such, the neighborhood is still very much boarded up and graffitied everywhere. It's very close to Lastarria but the immediate surrounding of the hotel is desolate.
Additionally, the photos on the listing are not up-to-date. While it looks like some renovations have been done to the entrance and common (eating) areas, the hotel is a bit shabbier than the photos let on. There was some mould on the ceiling of our bathroom and the wood on the doors was in bad shape from lack of bathroom ventilation. The rooms are in need of an upgrade. The bed was very comfy and clean, though.
We were particularly annoyed that the listing shows photos of a nice, well-equipped gym (which is a must for us when travelling). However, 1 of the 3 photos of the gym is clearly not at this hotel (the one with the pullies).
Lastly, the Expedia listing mentioned the pool would be open from November to April. We arrived Nov 19th and the pool was not open and did not seem to be in the process of opening shortly. I recommend you look at the Crowne Plaza website directly to see if it's open or not.
