Good safe location close to the center but so-so
The best about the Jaragua is its location, which is close to the center of Sao Paulo, and is in a relatively safe residential neighborhood. Nearby there is a really attractive street with nice decorative lighting with fabulous Italian restaurants. (For less pricey places take a short cab ride to 13 de Maio street.) Even closer is a convenient supermarket.
The design of the Jaragua hotel is a bit complicated as to go to the restaurant for meals you have to go down to the lobby and then go by escalator to the second floor (third floor for US people). I wish they had explained that at check-in. The breakfast was fabulous with a rich assortment of cold and hot dishes and things that you can order a la carte like tapioca, a healthy omelet type food (not pudding nor eggs). But again, we were not explained this and found by asking.
The hot water in the shower was plentiful which was great. The faucet in the facebowl squirted a bit, and was not that plentiful. The air conditioning temperature could not be controlled and we had to turn it on and off. The internet was very good at times but sometimes got cut off. The lights went out for a brief period once during our two-night stay. The restaurant would not deliver drinks to our room and it took a long time to get them at the restaurant. Brazilian time, I guess... Overall, I would stay again for the location and the price. It's fairly good but not a highly luxurious hotel.
