Baghirova in Rome

The place was not up to my standards there were no signs the lady was ok that met us at the door. It was not easy to find. It had a weird smell and I was not comfortable staying there so I stayed somewhere else.

This place promotes itself as offering 'Luxury Rooms' except luxury does not usually mean no hot water unless you can figure out exactly how to adjust the pressure, clean towels only every 2 days, clean sheets every 3, no English-speaking TV or new channels & terrible reception on the Italian ones. What they sold us as a 'suite' was one large room with a bed & sofa & lighting so badly positioned that it blinds you no matter where you sit. The proprietress was condescending, appeared to be homophobic & rolled her eyes at anything but the most basic question. We are an older gay male couple who have travelled broadly but never experienced anything like this before. Despite the failings, the room is very attractive with impressively high carved wood ceilings & the place ideally situated for sightseeing. It might be suitable for a 2-night stay but we were there for a week. Too bad it was such a disappointment.

Huge room with a ridiculously small bathroom. I am slim and could barely fit in the shower- which also barely had hot water. The sink had NO hot water so my poor wife would wash her face in the bidet :/ Also barely any closet. Given the enormous size of the room this was all silly.

Lovely charming hotel. If you are after a more intimate Rome experience than just your typical hotel that could be anywhere then this is for you. Perfect central location for walking everywhere. The lady that runs the place is very friendly and helpful. She organised an airport transfer and stored our luggage. The free breakfast in your room was lovely. There is not always someone staffing the desk but if we needed anything we just emailed and they got back to us really quickly. I would stay here again. The room was clean and the bed had a really comfy memory foam mattress - just what you need after walking on the uneven cobblestone streets of central Rome!
