Avenue Hostel

The room was too hot. There is a fan on the ground but the temperature doesn't change much.....several person in my room cancelled their stay because of this heat...... Since other condition is so nice, it's pity in my opinion.

The location of the hostel is good staffs seem to be nice but it is a very cheaply run hostel in a rundown building. Only two fan for sixteen bed hostel is crazy. The operator have no sense to add several more fans for a small price. No soap or any kind of body wash for shower. Although there is breakfast but choices are very poor. I wouldn’t recommend this hostel to anyone.

EXCELLENT LOCATION!!! Mere steps from the tram, great restaurants, Street food joints. Hostel had great vibes... Breakfast everyday, right on time. Offering was simple; hard boiled eggs, cereal, toast & jam, juice & coffee.... Front desk very helpful, very friendly Rooms were clean and large. Plenty of space to stretch out, ou6t your things, etc.... All around great hostel

From the number of guests they have, they really knows how to deal with the needs of budgeted travelers. Yet, I'm surprised by how clean the premise is, considering so many people was there. However, my room was switched without prior notice.

Do not stay here if it is a hot summer month, this hostel is listed as having air conditioning but it does not. I'm not one to complain for minor things but my top bunk in a room of 8 was so extremely hot I could not sleep more than about 30 minutes before waking up and feeling sick. It was hard to breathe level hot. Fans are provided but they of course don't reach the top bunk, and there is not enough air coming in from the windows (many of which face inward towards another building). I had to ask to change rooms in the middle of the night and the new room wasn't packed like sardines with bunks so it was slightly more breathable but overall I was only able to sleep a total of 4 hours over two nights because of how hot and stuffy it was. Basically made my short stay in Budapest unpleasant (there were no other affordable rooms available last minute so changing hostels was not possible), and on top of that several of my belongings were stolen, and it's not clear if it was other roomates or housekeeping. It's hot everywhere, but they should not post air conditioning when there is clearly no A.C., and no room should be wall to wall bunk beds with little ventilation.
